Nerissa appears to have been destroyed, and Irma, Taranee, Cornelia, and Hay Lin think they have nothing to worry about. But Will is not so sure. the Battle with Nerissa seemed too easu, and that has made Will Nervous. She finds herself slowly pulling away from the group and goes to seek advice from an unlikely source. The results are disastrous as her whispers of doubt allow an old evil to return.
Ah, W.I.T.C.H. So much of my childhood was spend obsessing over the series. The books. The comics. The cartoon. The merchandise. You name it I was into it.
So why only the three stars if I loved it so much?
Well as time went by, I grew disinterested in the series. I went along with it mainly to see how it ended. I simply wanted to know what the final outcome was.
Surely that is not enough to merit three stars? You loved it!
I did, but that was because I was a pre-teen with very low expectations. This came before my vampire-loving period, so you can imagine what my standard was like. Don’t get me wrong, they’re not bad books – they’re simply not something I can go back to now that I’m older.
Thoroughly enjoyable at the time, but not quite so much now.
Whispers of Doubt Will finds herself falling asleep during class. Cornelia invites her to go shopping after school. On the way to a print and frame shop, Cornelia asks why Will snapped at Hay-Lin about taking the diary to Eric’s grandfather. Will tries to explain she’s been in a mad mood ever since she found out she was being watched. She tells Cornelia even the heart has changed. It now weighs a ton and it’s red hot inside her. Cornelia says maybe that’s what’s causing her bad mood. She says she’s been feeling weighed down and exhausted. Cornelia says call her when she feels that way.
Cornelia asks if the saleslady has a print of the Sheffield Institute and she says she has one in the back. When she shows it to them, Cornelia says it will the perfect gift for Mrs. Rudolph’s retirement. The lady says it dates back 50 years. Cornelia asks Will what she thinks of it and Will thinks she hears the sales woman say she doesn’t think she cares about what she’s going through (meaning Cornelia). Cornelia asks Will what she thinks of the photo. Will tells herself Cornelia does care. Or does she? Will thinks that at the moment Cornelia *doesn’t* care about anything but the gift because it will reflect good on *her*. But then she brush’s this off and finds she can’t find the money for the gift. Luckily Cornelia has it. (This part wasn’t better explained than in the graphic novel). Will thinks she’s a wreck and must be the stress of being the Keeper.
Yan Lin tells the Oracle events are repeating themselves. But in the end the Oracle knows that Will will just have to handle it. He asks her to keep her distance and she says as he wishes. But she decides he didn’t say she couldn’t talk to Hay-Lin. He hears her but knows he can’t do anything about this. Hay-Lin meets up with Eric (as the Oracle watches). Hay-Lin and Eric are thinking the same thing. Hay-Lin is thinking of how she wants Eric to ask her to the party. Eric is thinking of how to ask her. Hay-Lin is thinking maybe she should ask him. He seems uncomfortable and she takes this as he might not be happy to see her. The Oracle is thinking if only humans could read each other’s thoughts. Eric’s grandfather says he’ll need more time to decipher the diary and Hay-Lin is disappointed.
The professor says the diary contains information about a missing star. The star appeared in Jan over a month ago. Hay-Lin tells him it’s important that she and her friends learn the truth. He says if the star is out there, he’ll find it. Hay-Lin is then dismissed. Eric looks away and she wonders if he’s embarrassed by his grandfather’s dismissal or did, he ask another girl to the dance. So, she decides to leave. Eric says nothing. After this, her thoughts turn to her worries for Will. She then has a thought. The last time the star went missing was a decade ago. This was around the time Will was born. That can’t be a coincidence.
She calls Will and (even tho Will doesn’t want to hear it) they agree to meet up. She sees Matt and asks him for a ride. Will thinks she hears the saleswoman saying something. Cornelia notices but then sees Matt arrives and tells Will. Will asks the saleswoman what she said, but the lady isn’t saying anything. Then she asks Cornelia why Matt’s flirting with her friend. Cornelia says they’re just playing around but Will says that Cornelia should talk to her and she leaves. Hay-Lin comes in and asks why Will left and Cornelia says she doesn’t know what’s gotten into her. Then Hay-Lin starts to hear Nerissa’s Trill again.
Cornelia and Hay-Lin decide to meet up before the party (with the others) to talk about what’s going on with Will. Then Hay-Lin could also tell Cornelia what she found out. In her room that night, Will thinks about how she heard the saleswoman tell her that Cornelia was luckier than her (because she could get the blue blouse she’d picked out and Will couldn’t because it cost too much). Then she hears the saleswoman say don’t trust those who say they’re your friends. Don’t trust anyone. That’s when she ran out of the store. Then when she goes back and hears Cornelia making plans to talk about something without her there. Will makes a decession that maybe she needs to spend some time alone. Tomorrow things will change. For here out, she’ll just have to solve her problems alone.
Yan-Lin visits Hay-Lin in a dream and reminds her of their riddle. Which is stronger the oak or the reed. Hay-Lin says she’d say the oak but she knows she’s probably not right. Yan-Lin says she would answered that way too years ago. The oak resists without bending but sooner or later it breaks. So, the reed is the answer. The reed never breaks. Hay-Lin figures it out. Yan-Lin knows it doesn’t make sense to her now but it will in the future. She advises her never let her memories slip away before leaving. After this Hay-Lin hears Nerissa’s Trill. She yells to her grandma, she’s there and she’s listening. Yan-Lin sends her back and she finds herself on the floor in her bedroom. Nerissa is very much alive and is planning on a surprise attack. Being beaten in the dream world tho took something out of her and for now she has to rest. Shaggone warns Nerissa that since Hay-Lin can sense when she’s near that he’d better stay away. She tells them the other girls won’t take the warnings to seriously. They’ll keep working on Will. We find out it was Shaggone speaking through both of the sales women. Nerissa tells them she might not can take the heart from Will but in the end, she’s give it to her herself.
Mrs. Rudolph calls Taranee and Taranee asks if she’s going back home. She says she can’t go back to her world unless they help her. All the portals are closed. Taranee says she’s got her and she’ll talk to everyone tomorrow. After they hang up, Mrs. Rudolph is thinking about how much she’ll miss them, but they can visit. She hears a noise but doesn’t see anybody. Then a heaviness drapes itself over her and she can see an image in her hallway mirror. The man has blue armor and shaggy hair.
At the party, Hay-Lin tells them Nerissa isn’t defeated and she tells them about her dream. Then Cornelia brings up the issue of Will. Irma says they should just talk to her. Cornelia says it might be something Nerissa did. Irma says she’s blowing it out of proportion. She might just be in a bad mood over something they don’t know about. Cornelia says they should keep their eyes on her (but without her noticing). Little do they know Nerissa is there and listening. Will is also listening. Will thinks she doesn’t know what they’re trying to find out about her but she’ll find out. Nerissa is pleased with Will’s paranoia.
When Will turns around there’s Matt coming to say hi before his set. Matt makes a comment about Hay-Lin making up why she left and says he thinks she’s in love with him (with doesn’t do anything to help Will’s insecurity). Then Matt is pulled away by one of his band mates. Nerissa takes in Matt. Then she sees Will slump over on the ground. She thinks about how love was also Cassidy’s downfall. She realizes Will is in love but she doesn’t know how to tell Matt. She thinks about how love makes people suffer and how this time the pain from it will be unbearable.
Irma is talked into dancing with Martin and is about to be asked to dance by a cute guy in her homeroom when Mrs. Knickerbocker comes up and asks Mrs. Rudolph to say a few words. She keeps it brief and thanks them for the party. Hay-Lin notices Will isn’t having fun. She’s hanging with a boring girl named Edna. Irma realizes Cornelia might be right. She then gets fed up and goes over to Will. She catches up with her at the refreshment table, but while the guy goes to get them more orange soda Will walks off. Irma goes after her, but can’t figure out where Will went.
Will runs into Mrs. Rudolph outside and asks if she’s leaving. Will says she’s just getting some fresh air. Her teacher asks if she’s alone or with her friends. She says she has to talk to her. It’s urgent. Will asks if something’s happened. The teacher leads her into the school. She tells her she’s in serious danger. The teacher says Cornelia and the others are setting a trap for her. Will is outraged. She’s there leader. They’re nothing without her. Then she realizes she’s sounding like Nerissa. The teacher tells her her friends are dark forces (imposters). She says there’s no time to explain. They’re looking for her and they’ll be there any moment. Then her teacher disappears. All of a sudden there’s a black out.
Mrs. Rudolph comes up to the girls and tells them Will is waiting for them inside the school. When Taranee tells her after the dance they can discuss what they talked about on the phone, she acts like she doesn’t know what she’s talking about. Taranee warns the others somethings going on. She tells them about Mrs. Rudolph. Irma agrees. First Will avoids them and now she wants to talk. The power comes back on. In the hallway, they find Will. She tells them she’s not in the mood to play games and they won’t be having fun in a minute. Will shoots out a blast of energy at Cornelia. She tells them her sixth sense told her about them and she got confirmation.
She shoots a blast at Irma. The blast sends her flying down the hallway. Will tells them she doesn’t know who they are or who sent them but she wants her friends back. She knocks them all down. Then sends a bolt at Hay-Lin. They all take off running. Taranee wants to use her powers on Will but can’t without the heart. Will throws out more energy and it hits Taranee in the back. Cornelia says they should fight back, but Hay-Lin stops them.
They drag Taranee into an empty classroom and barricade the door. Hay-Lin now realizes her grandmother’s dream means they have to be the reed. Will uses an explosion to blast open the door and send furniture flying. Hay-Lin tells them don’t respond. Will yells at them to defend themselves. Then there’s an explosion of white light. Hay-Lin has placed them all in a bubble of energy. She tells Will they aren’t there to fight them. The bubble extinguishes it. They focus their powers and it makes the shield stronger.
Will keeps attacking the bubble, but the bolts are absorbed. Cornelia tells her someone hacked her mind but if she concentrates, she’ll know their telling the truth. Will realizes its true and her rage fades. She then starts to cry and crumble. The others let the bubble dissolve. But then Mrs. Rudolph appears and tells Will to attack them. As Cornelia stares at her in disbelief, Hay-Lin again hears “Nerissa’s Trill”. Will confronts Mrs. Rudolph and then her body drops. Shaggone appears and says he has to go. He sends out a blast that sends some of them flying across the room ( Cornelia and Taranee) but Hay-Lin gives them an air cushion to fall on.
Will is upset and angry with herself despite her friends telling her it’s not her fault. She hears a voice in her head tell her she’s not worthy of carrying the heart. She confesses she’s tired and the weight of carrying the heart is too much for her. She tells them she knows what she has to do and runs out the door. Irma gets angry and starts to run after her but Will blocks them all in with a wall of energy. Will sees Matt and ends up telling him the truth about EVERYTHING! She even shows him the heart. The Guardians use their powers to break free from the wall. Matt seems to take the news well and asks to touch the heart. He turns out to be Nerissa who takes the heart.
My Thoughts: I really can’t say I blame Will for telling Matt. She was in a vulnerable place. But I am surprised tho that after everything that *just* happened she wouldn’t be more cautious. She’s just seen a man RIP HIMSELF OUT OF HER TEACHERS SKIN JUST SECONDS AGO. Not ONCE did she think umm maybe this might not be Matt. But at the same time she’d JUST also questioned her friends, I guess she didn’t want to make the same mistake twice. Still,…. I’m just saying

Nesmím zapomenout ani na Elyon, i když udělala pár nesprávných rozhodnutí, samozřejmě i další důležité postavy : Věštce, Caleba, Joela, Orube, Cedrika, Matta, Luka, Erica, babičku Hay Lin.... Rozhodně to byla má nejoblíbenější dětská série, at už komixy nebo seriál. Doporučuji všem mladším slečnám. ;)
Read this yesterday but forgot to update. Poor Will though. Some would say she is quite dumb but she is still a kid. Nerissa is formidable indeed, I love the whole previous guardians storyline. With Kadma and Cassidy and the others. If only we had comics for them.
This was an interesting continuation of the story, Will is being tormented by Nerissa and she is starting to doubt her friends and herself. This was an interesting development for the characters and very interesting for how Nerissa gains the heart. This was very enjoyable, really good re-read.
In this installment of the series, the girls believe that their nemesis, Nerissa, has been defeated, and a sense of relief settles over them. However, Will is plagued by a nagging sense of unease. She can't shake the feeling that their victory was too easy, and this growing doubt starts to drive a wedge between her and the rest of the group.
Seeking guidance and reassurance, Will turns to an unexpected source, but her decision sets off a chain of events that leads to dire consequences. Her doubts unwittingly create an opening for an old and malevolent force to resurface, threatening not only their newfound peace but the very essence of their world.
The story takes readers on a journey of suspense and discovery as the girls grapple with the consequences of Will's actions and strive to confront this revived evil. It's a tale of trust, the consequences of doubt, and the enduring strength of friendship as the group faces new challenges and obstacles on their path to protect their world from the returning darkness.
I loved this series! All of the different girls had their own individual personalities that made the series more enjoyable to read. Also, of course the cool magical powers was a plus. I loved the character relationships and adventures the girls got themselves into.
It was really good! The magic of friendship has such transforming results1Nerrissa apears to have been destroyed , and Irma ,Taranee , Cornelia and Hay lin think they have nothing to worry about . Will isn't so sure . The battle with Nerissa seemed to easy , and that has made Will nervous . She finds herself slowly pulling away from the group and seeks advice from a unlikly source . The results are disastrous , as her whispers of doubt allow a old evil to return ... a great book , WITCH (!) doesn't even tell you the auther !It tells you who adapted it but that isn't much use is it ?!
I used to like these series. Now, I don't think they're so good anymore. I got up to number 12 or something like that, and they've gone up to #26 or something... and they're still coming out!! I'm not really interested into them anymore, but I used to be.
