How to Kill a Wizard

Rate this book
Fact: Some people need killing. Fact: Sometimes it is hard.
“It’s so horrible. He controls her mind. She follows him around like a slave, he dresses her how he wants, uses her for sex, and has her cooking for him. She’s a slave, she doesn’t know me or anyone, and she’s happy about it, because of his magic,” the boy said.

Some people needed killing, Gunnolf had always believed that, still he was a mace-man , a thug for hire. He didn't kill wizards, he certainly didn't kill this one, Yolland the grand, head of their little school. At least he had a chance unlike this angry boy and he was pretty sick of his life, it might be his last chance to get the gods to notice him.

"50 gold and if i die trying you pay the Carthian temple for me. I want two bulls sacrificed in my name."

This PG15 tale involves a sellsword, an untrained female mage, and the local magical establishment, and takes a full day to read.

Unlikely pairing with a singular goal. A mercenary who has to make his living as a common any way he can. He is pulled into a deadly game of life and death by the young, rich, ruthless noble with magic. He can only defend himself when the young men with magic put a guard under their spell and make the two men fight to the death. Gunnolf is now running from the law. Mena is a young girl who comes from a family who once had magic but now has none. But Mena discovers that she does have some magic and tries to save her mother’s life. A young lad hires Gunnolf the kill a wizard. Gunnolf seeks the help of a powerful witch, Grella. Meanwhile escapes her family and decides to find the witch. Gunnolf and Mena finally cross paths. They both hate wizards and make a plan to destroy as many as possible, but especially Yolland, a powerful mage. The adventures bringing Gunnolf and Mena together are thrilling and filled with sadness and tension. Their lives are full of twists and turns. A must read to find out if they can defeat the powerful wizard and if Mena’s life dream comes true. Great story!

I started this book without a lot of expectations, and after the first few chapters, I was still debating whether I wanted to keep reading, but I’m so glad I did.
While there are many times that the author’s writing felt redundant or inexperienced, the premise of this book is captivating and I was excited to learn more about the characters.
I feel that this author has a lot to offer and I would love to see him expand on and really flesh out his world building in a more mature way. I would also love to see the dialogue less forced as I absolutely loved the character dynamics being played with in this book.
This is a fun tale and I cannot wait to read more from this author!
