After inviting a vampire to live in her basement and stopping a cult from summoning an ancient evil, Josephine Nicolson figures she’s seen it all. But that’s before her small Alabama town becomes the hunting ground of a bloodthirsty monster.

The local sheriff is convinced that a wolf or a bear is responsible for the grisly deaths, but Baron Dragomir Blasko is sure the sheriff is wrong. He believes a werewolf is stalking the community and that he is the only one who can stop it

Enlisting the aid of friends old and new, Blasko and Josephine set out to find the beast before it can kill again.

NO BITING ALLOWED

This is an up to date "Vampires in America, especially in the small southern town of Sumter, Alabama..howdy folks!! Can you believe "Alabama" home to the band "Alabama" how quaint..
Baron Dragomir Blasko of Romania, who emigrated to Alabama where he resides in the basement of Josephine Nicolson..don't this beat all?? This is first time I've read this type of Vampire's living arrangements and Josephine provides much needed nutrients(blood)for his well being. The understanding was "no biting" of the town folks. Humdinger of a life style, right folks.
Now it's started ripped bodies, shredded beyond recognition. There's a new stranger in town who calls himself a "spiritualist" who opens the spiritual door so that spirits may speak to their love ones😁😃. His name is Francisco LeSauvage who has a dark shady past. Josephine figured that he's trying to undermine the town for his own sinister means. Baron Blasko suspects someone is a "Werewolf" what a hot mess! Baron Blasko smelled the off body odor floating around the town. Both Blasko and Josephine sense that something sinister will soon arrive in their sweet magnolia town.
You'll will enjoy reading this tension, scary Vampire, Werewolves packed town. The spiritualist is turning persons into werewolves. Biting, shredding just a gosh darn mess folks. Yessireee boop a real big snotful of teeth with yellow eyes not your everyday neighbors, right folks??! Or are they? One never knows!! Oh yes 👍can't forget "Anton," Baron Blasko servant akin to Count Dracula's servant "Igor." Folks you must read this series and once you do, you'll want more..Yessireee no doubt you'll want more!!!

not what I expected

I saw an ad for this series online and thought, I like paranormal stuff and I like mysteries. This is the third book and I must say that I’m hooked. The first few chapters of the first book almost made me rethink reading it but I’m so glad I did. These books take place just a few years after the Great Depression in a small Alabama town. Murders, summoning ancient monsters and werewolves have this small town jumping at shadows. The Baron is a vampire who loves solving murders and Miss Josephine is clever and well connected in the community. Together they help solve the murders and keep the town safe. There is no sex or strong language but depictions of the murders scenes are at times graphic. These books are fast paced and well written.

There is a savage killer in Semmes County and he doesn't just kill, he rips the bodies apart, spilling guts and blood all over the place. And when the Baron visits the scene of the crime, he detects the odour of a beast that he has encountered before. Blasko believes that he is about to meet up with an old arch enemy but he doubts if anyone in Semmes County will believe him if he lets on who the killer is.

Another brilliant Baron Blasko mystery. I really enjoy these books, cleverly written and although set in a different country and time, you cannot help by identify with the characters. Totally recommend and cannot wait for book 4. I received an ARC and this is my honest opinion.

Good book.

A Werewolf is murdering people, and Josephine and Blasko are determined to destroy it. Who is the mysterious medium, and what are his real intentions? We get to learn more about Blasko's past. There is action. There are some twists in the plot. The plot kept me guessing who is the Werewolf. I like this series.

Enjoyed reading works from a new author.

I like the era the story is based in. I enjoyed reading southern vampire stories. The great depression, and prohibition as part of the story that shaped the town in the story.
