Beautiful does not mean safe...or good.
Bree Cadman is a normal 17 year old girl until the day she's marked by the Wild Hunt. Rescued by a madman and his peculiar, talking Hound, she finds herself flung into the lovely - and deadly - realm of Faery. In seeking a cure for what's been done to her, Bree's forced to confront the strange truth about her own past as well as face the terrible future predicted by a Seer.
And what about the two very different Fae lords she finds herself involved with? Are either of them seeing her, or just the face of her long dead ancestress? With the realm at war all Bree has to do is save her madman, save herself and save Faery - and get home - before her parents notice she's missing.
So. Not too much pressure, then....

Addictive

The story hits the ground running and immerses the reader into their world straight away. It has everything you could possibly want from a story and then some. I shall be looking for the rest of the series :)

A very creative and imaginative wander into a parallel universe of the Fae, Seelies and Unseelies.
This isn't my usual type of novel so I wasn't quite sure how I would find it, however I fancied a try and it's also by a local author who I heard about during a recent book/literature festival week. I'm pleased to say that I was mightily impressed by the depth of the creativity and imagination that is expressed by creating this alternate world: language, locations, time, people, races & politics are all adjusted and tweaked to uphold the transition our world into the world of Fae.
Sometimes, I did find the multiple names for the same thing a little confusing (e.g. Cooshie, Cu Sidhe, Guest, Hound all for the dog) as they were sometimes introduced in quick succession, but by contrast the names for Leiloken are introduced in a much more drip-fed manner and therefore easier to keep track. On occasion, I felt the writing 'jumped' a little between paragraphs rather than flowing easily, however this may just be personal preference.

On balance an enjoyable trip into a different world, where it's clear to see the author has fantastic imagination to create this land of mystery and wonder. Readers will certainly be able to escape to another place.

I'm not much of a reader, so when I was round at a friends house they let me read Fated on one of their devices. They had been telling me about how amazing a read Fated is for days. I read a few pages and was hooked, so had to buy it for myself because I needed to know what happens, and I was not disappointed. The characters jump out of the page, and they seem so life like. The story is amazing. When reading Fated I was whisked into the world of Faery, and taken along on their adventures for the ride. The language used is superb, can't wait to get stuck into book two(Stormbringers).

A very enjoyable book to read. Excellent fantasy book, great if you like modern Arthurian fantasy. Although the book was written with young adults in mind, it still works well if you're 40 going on 14. I disagree with the other reviewer about the grammatical errors, I read that part again just to check and I disagree, I think that the author's intent has been misunderstood.
I like the characters, I like the setting and look forward to reading the rest of the series.

I started reading this book a couple of weeks ago. I have a tendency of collecting books but struggling to read them, but I got hooked right into this. The pacing is excellent, the characters clear and vivid, and the imagery superb. I'm still reading it at the minute, not too far in, but I'm enjoying it so much I had to let others know haha! I've already got two of my friends reading it. Would definitely recommend!

This isn't a genre I'd usually go for, but the premise is quite intriguing. However, there were a few grammer and little mistakes here and there. Wish it was edited better.
