Every woman has her breaking point. Has Scarlet reached hers? In this beautifully crafted tale of redemption and renewal, Scarlet must choose between staying in the shadows of weighty family secrets, or stepping out into the light, and thus risking it all. Can she do it? And will Jackson be a part of that journey?
The thrilling conclusion to the heat, humour and heartache of the Scarlet Lies Series.
Lani Young is an international bestselling author of YA fantasy, contemporary romance and literary fiction. The 2018 Pacific Laureate, her work is inspired by the diverse mythology of Oceania and the richness of her cultural heritage as a Samoan and Maori woman.
When she's not writing (or reading), she's baking cookies, talking to dogs, and trying to do triathlons. She lives in Samoa and New Zealand with her Ironman husband and four children.
A beautiful and wholesome conclusion to a series that had me giggling, sighing, and snapping my fingers with a "YESSSSS!" the entire time. I also love plot twists and story reveals so all the "secrets" this book revealed was a huuuuge relief to my anxious heart.
I love and absolutely ADORE Scarlet and firmly believes she deserves every happy ending - with or without Jackson (preferably with him though, haha!) She is such a strong and hard-not-to-like character because even though she is aware of the things about her that her family deem to be imperfect and not that of a perfect daughter, Scarlet is resilient and strong and brave and truly deserves only good things in life.
I am so grateful to have read the series because I needed a good book to read and the fact that it was written by a female Pasifika author automatically makes an all-time favourite.
This last instalment was worth the wait. I want to embrace all the Scarlet's of the world, especially of Samoa for the silence they have to endure. I still want to throw hands at Scarlet's mother for obvious reasons, but thank you Lani for giving us lapoa femme fatales hope that that there is a #notjasonmomoa for us all. Five star rating because this series is worth it. This tale of love, culture, religion, tradition, rage, lust, hope & laughter gives us an inside look into PK' s (Pastor's Kids) & the ridiculous expectations imposed on them to lead a righteous, perfect and transparent life. As long as you're writing Ms Lani, know I will always be reading. Thank you
This book is everything & more. There is raw content that brings the characters to life. So much of the fa'asamoa is exposed not in a way that discriminates the race but in a way that draws in appreciation and understanding. I've never related to any fictional character more. Thank you Lani for this wonderful piece, no, for this masterpiece. Malo lava!
This book was worth the wait. My favorite parts were when Scarlet began to speak up and against things that she did not agree with. A great book to encourage people to use their voice and stand against things that are questionable.
RIpped through this series after ripping through Telesa after not being able to find it all on my apple iBook app then finding it on kindle, and it was a nice more adult entertaining read... Lani has this way of making you enraged one moment with her storytelling and then in hysterics the next, Scarlet is like that loyal best friend who is always there for you and would shelf all her issues to help her family instead of putting herself first... I loved her character development and how she faced all her demons and really got to understand her true worth, she is a role model for all women, especially Pacifica, who loves her family and her culture. I think my absolute favourite theme from this series (even more than the romance with Jackson) was her relationship development with her sister Naomi, I was so pleased that she finally confided in her and they could repair their relationship, as a mother of 3 girls I enjoyed reading about their fights and disagreements, but how Naomi ultimately turned to Scarlet during her time of need was my favourite part.. and the food... I relate how she loves her food and makes no apologies... Yass girl!!! the family secret really rocked me and I was in tears not only at the injustice of how Scarlet was blamed but because these are unfortunately stories we know are a reality.. scarlet can teach us that we are not broken and we should always know we are worth so much more

I’ve been waiting for years to find out what happens next in Scarlet’s story. It’s a bittersweet moment when you finish reading something you don’t want to end, but need to know how it ends!
I laughed, cried, opened my mouth in shock, rolled my eyes then laughed some more. I love how the writing just pulls you in, you feel like you know the characters and cheer for every success, especially every witty comeback! I stayed up all night reading until I finished. I had so much FUN reading this series.
I have enjoyed reading all three books about Scarlet. I truly love the way the story ends. I had to keep reading each book to find out what happens between Scarlet and Jackson. I also enjoyed learning about the Samoan culture. Very well written and great characters.
Great finish to a fun series of books. Just know going in that each book is not a self contained story but literally the next book picks up right where the previous one left off. Scarlet is an adorable heroine and Jackson is a very attractive leading man.
I’m a fan of every book I’ve read by Lani. I utterly adore the Scarlett series. These books are my happy place; I honestly laugh til I cry with these stories, the characters are SOOOO familiar, we all have THOSE sisters and THOSE aunties.
I absolutely loved this book! The ending was perfect! I read a ton of contemporary romance and I’ve never read a Pasifika adult contemporary romance before this series. There’s so much I was able to relate to in this book. I can’t wait to read Tamarina’s book!
