There is no way to describe the feelings that accompany a life-threatening diagnosis. If you've been in that position, then you know what I am talking about.
Inspired by the stories so many have shared with me, and my own personal journey after being diagnosed with cancer, I always knew I wanted to share my story and hopefully make a difference in even just one person's life.
This book was created to positively impact the lives of people who have been diagnosed with cancer, and their families, in some small way. If even for a moment they can go to that place of hope, believe that a positive outcome is possible, and maybe even find a way to smile, then we will have made a difference.
Cancer remains a challenge and a menace that needs to be eradicated. Being diagnosed with this life-threatening disease is a challenge to accept. Most women get very depressed and lose hope. Tracey Ehman has done a wonderful job in this book by using her own life and the life of other women to bring hope to a lot of women leaving with the same kind of pain all over the world. I wasn’t so comfortable buying this book but then, I’m glad I did in the end. Slowly, I began to understand the need for sensitization of women living with cancer to proceed with early treatment. Above all things, this book encourages women living with cancer never to lose hope but live their life happy and fulfilled. There are a lot of ideas to be drawn from this book. It is the kind of book that will enjoy a family reading for over a long period of time. Researches are organized every day with the hope of finding a cure to the Disease. It is therefore important for you to keep an open spirit and enjoy every.
I never want to know the heart dropping feeling of sitting in front of a doctor and being told that I have cancer and could very well die from that terrible disease. The Silver Lining of Cancer: 13 Courageous Women Share their Inspirational Stories After a Life Changing Diagnosis is a collection of accounts of that very event and how thirteen different women chose to handle it. With a name like "The Silver Lining of Cancer" you can imagine that the stories are overwhelmingly positive and you would be right. Some accounts are more detailed than others, some more heart wrenching than others but all are inspiring in their own unique way. The author herself, Tracey Ehman, received her own devastating diagnosis and managed to not only beat the disease but create a vehicle for others in the same predicament to focus on positivity. I believe whether or not the disease is beaten physically, it can always be beaten mentally and that affirmative state of mind can make any outcome better.
The Silver Lining of Cancer: 13 Courageous Women Share their Inspirational Stories After a Life Changing Diagnosis by Tracey Ehman is as the title states a compilation of personal stories shared by women who have been given the terrible diagnosis of cancer. Some stories are quite brief, while others are a little more detailed, but all serve to show how we can overcome and even thrive after such a devastating illness as cancer. This is an empowering, positive, and upbeat message that will resonate with everyone, not just those who are recovering and struggling. These stories offer hope, and with courage and resilience, these stories serve to show us that we can be strong in spite of dealing with cancer. A must read for anyone facing this challenge, along with their caretakers, spouses, and family members. Highly recommend.
This 13 of the most heartbreaking and beautiful stories I have ever read.
This is one of the most moving books I have ever read in my life. I have seen a side of cancer that I wouldn’t wish on anyone. One where there was no coming back because within a month of diagnosis my mother was gone in a blink of an eye. She fought the fight like these women did but she lost. Reading these women’s stories revealed a whole different side of cancer where there is beautiful hope, strength and courage. These women fought the biggest fight in their life and they won. They are fierce and amazing and so inspiring. I honestly think this is the best the book I have read in a long time. There is nothing more beautiful than a strong and fierce woman!
This is one of those books that after you finish, you put it down and just let yourself feel for a few minutes. It left me with bittersweet emotions. The heartbreak of hearing about the devastating part of this diagnosis to the hope that these women carry from their battle with it. It’s just really hard to put into words what it does for me as a reader let alone them as a survivor. Bravo to these ladies for being brave enough to share their stories. I’m sure it’ll help someone during the dark moments of their own battles. Even without a cancer diagnosis, there is strength in hope for anyone going through a tough time.
When I first saw this book, I was skeptical if I should get it and I am glad I did. If you are like me, then you know at least one person with cancer. My Great Grandmother has breast cancer, 7 of her daughters had it as well, 1 of her sons has Leukemia. Cancer tends to run in my family, so when I saw “The silver lining of cancer”, at first, I thought, “yea right”. However, I am glad that I got this book. The 13 women who have opened up into all their struggles, their setbacks, their victories (even the little ones) and their fears are heroes to me. The fact that they are battling this disease and are keeping their heads high and attempt to live a full, rich and fulfilling life is amazing to me. It is easy to read the stories and use their courage and make the most out of each day. There is no message here other than be positive, keep your head up high and believe. Take that away from this book and you will feel as inspired as I did.
