This was a fantastic novel, particularly by a first time author. The characters are big, vivid and very believable. A basic story we’ve seen before of a gay girl in love with her ‘straight’ friend. In this story the lesbian is actually a formerly married bisexual with a wonderful ex husband and sweet children. Her best friend, unfortunately, is married to a rotten abusive prick. She tries to support her friend in the sham of a marriage, but when things get particularly ugly she is there to offer respite and eventually win her heart. Trigger warning that there are some descriptions of some of the physical abuse, but in spite of that, the book held my interest throughout and a happy ending made the journey all the sweeter. I look forward to more from Feri Tyler. So nice to see more women of color represented and participating in the lesbian fiction community. #diverselesfic
