This is the first cookbook I have ever straight up thrown away. After faithfully spending 2.5 months cooking my way through it and being disappointed with recipe after recipe, I had enough. Into the bin.
My dad read this before I could even get the chance to look at the book. My dad is very happy with the recipes he found and is going to try one tomorrow. I can’t wait to loo at the book myself and find recipe is lien since I enjoy cooking! My dad quotes “I like this book. It allows me to be creative when it comes to trying a different way to prepare a meal which I look forward to doing.”
Assuming that Tasty is a group of writers or blog, this book didn't have any cohesive thread running through it - no central voice giving you background on the recipes or how they were developed. This book groups the recipes by cooking method, which is practical, but I found it to be kind of a loose hodgepodge. There aren't pictures for every recipe, no nutritional information and little if any background. There were a few good recipes, mainly for the slow cooker and sheet pan.
Worth checking out for weeknight inspiration if it crosses your path, but I wouldn't go out of my way to check it out.
Maybe this book is okay for people who are just beginning to learn how to cook. The recipes are mediocre at best though... There’s nothing wrong with simplicity, but there is if the food lacks interesting and/or depth of flavor. I tried one of the mexican, Indian, and Thai recipes, so I feel like I gave it a fair shot.... they each received “meh” reviews from my partner and I. If I can’t find recipes in a book that I’ll make over and over, then the book isn’t worth it.
I like tasty. But this recipe book did not have many recipes I wanted to try. Enchilada rice and a French beef stew were the top of the list. And there was a better than takeout section that looked great with a sheet pan crunch wrap and arroz con Pollo. Pictures were great. Directions were clear. They even had a few Meal prep versions were you make one dinner and how to serve the leftovers different ways. But again not my "every day" style cooking we would serve in my home.
Great cookbook designed for the most ambitious but skill-deficient at-home cook. I only wish that there had been a section devoted to substitutes and changes that can be made to make the recipes slightly different and less vegan. So far have tried two of the recipes and they are both simple and delicious! 10/10 recommend.
Pictures of recipes? Yes. Commentary on recipes? Yes. Nutrition facts? No. Recipe Style? American with lots of different influences. Any keepers? A couple.
Not my favorite Tasty book. Still has fairly short and simple recipes, so that's a plus.
What I liked the most about this book was the inclusion of meal prep ideas; like 1 single recipe being served in 4 different ways (i.e. - over a salad, or in a tortilla, or mixed with rice, etc.). The photos were mouth watering! I will definitely be taking some recipes from this book to my kitchen.
Tasty Every Day... an exceptional collection of weeknight recipes sourced from Asian, Mediterranean, and Mexican cuisines. Inspiring images and multiple side dishes are provided for meal prep options. Recommended for everyone: from millennials starting out their cooking journey to seasoned empty nesters expanding their palettes. Classic dishes with new interpretations.
Cooked the entire cookbook in June 2020 during the quarantine. It is a solid place to start cooking but not everything is good enough for a true foodie. A solid 4. IG:foodiefromtucson for pics and reviews
Bought this cookbook impulsively because I love the Tasty videos that pop up on my social media. I recently moved into a place with some friends and we've been trying to cook more at home. I figured this cookbook would be a great help for that. I've flagged a few recipes I think will be good, but we haven't tried anything yet. I'm hopeful that this will become one of our favorites to use.
