OMG I love Ian Mackenzie...... so fucking much!!!!!!! This book was like coming home, but like years later. OMG I melted at all the kids being so grown. I love their personalities and I really really REALLY hope we readers get books for them. Ian still made my heart melt in this book. I loved every minute and I can't wait to get more of this world. This was a cute Christmas read for anyone that loves the Mackenzies and the McBrides. Great book!

I loved this novella, that brought together the whole Mackenzie clan for an intriguing Christmas season. This book not only gave us more insight into the next generation of Mackenzie's..but also gave us an update on our favorite couples from this series. As usual, Ian and Beth are at the center of it all...I absolutely adore them both, and Ian will always be on the top of my favorite hero of all time list!! I am also loving the fact that we are getting to know Ian's son Jamie! My fingers are crossed that one day, he will get his very own romance! Ian's children, are just as interesting as he is!!
It was a heartwarming read, and it had a little mystery thrown into the story.

All in all, a wonderful Christmas treat for the fans of the quirky Mackenzie family! I highly recommend it to all the readers who love this series! Happy Holidays!! xo

First of all, this book is a bundle of two Mackenzie holiday novellas. A never before published entitled A Mackenzie YuletideA MacKenzie Clan Gathering. Therefore, if you already purchased A Mackenzie Clan Gathering (it was released in 2015) – I advise you to only purchase A Mackenzie Yuletide, which actually is sold separately by the publisher.

** A Mackenzie Clan Gathering **

While I loved that Ian, sort of get a second book - yes, this is mostly about Ian, more than a decade after he married Beth, and how he dealt with a robbery at Hart's Kilmorgan Castle as well as the appearance of Beth's former brother-in-law, who wanted to cure Ian out of his madness -

.. but I felt that it was a bit lack of emotion. Maybe because it *IS* about Ian so there's a sense of detachment about it? It's not exactly a romance story (Ian already got his girl). We also get different point of views, mainly Beth and Fellows...

It's still a good book though, because it gives readers a chance to see Ian as a father.

** A Mackenzie Yuletide **

It was December 1898, and the whole Mackenzie clans – husbands, wives, children – gathered at Kilmorgan Castle, the Mackenzie manor house, for another Christmas and Hogmanay celebration. We have the kids trying to capture a ghost – first seen by Mac Mackenzie. We also have Ian trying to track down a necklace to be given to his wife Beth, and he lassoed in some other people including his half-brother, Lloyd Fellows and Hart’s best friend, David Fleming.

It was chaos *laugh*

There were so many of the Mackenzie brood, I wonder if I must start writing a note to keep track of all the sons and daughters of the ‘original’ Mackenzies. But it was quite fun returning into the clan – especially that Jennifer Ashley started to write from the kids’ perspectives too.

Such as Jamie, Ian and Beth’s son, the oldest of the “new” generation (discounting Daniel, whose Cameron’s oldest, and already a teenager when the series start), or Megan, another daughter of Ian and Beth, as well as Gavina (Cam and Ainsley’s daughter). They seemed to have developed their own strong traits, and I could imagine the series being expanded into this new generation as well.

There was an interesting revelation about the ghost too, and I couldn’t help thinking how would that be played into future books.

Truly amazing to see how far Lord Ian Mackenzie has come. The series started with his story. Without a doubt, Ian has always been my favorite character and has remained to be throughout the entire series. :)

This book is almost a bridge to the second generation of this series (if JA is compelled to keep it going). We see the children of the original 1800s couples as more developed characters. Daniel being the oldest of this generation and married to Violet. Ian remains the main character longtime readers love, but it’s wonderful to see him with his kids more than just the glimpses we got in the intros of the books that took place in the 1700s.

A fun Yuletide tale with The MacKenzies & McBrides at Kilmorgan castle. Ian searches for treasure while Mac, Eleanor, Daniel, and Violet hunt a ghost — Everyone is present in this short story as the saga of these two families continues.

I do love the Mackenzies. And all their brood is growing up. This story wasn't all that interesting to me though and that makes me sad. I think I'm in a bit of a reading funk though. So... Happy reading!

A MacKenzie Yuletide is an all new MacKenzie Family novella!

As usual, the MacKenzies descend on Kilmorgan Castle to celebrate the Yuletide season and Hogmanay. Mac is up in his studio painting when a noise disturbs his concentration, he goes to investigate and finds a ghost! But as he approaches her, she disappears, unconcerned, Mac goes to bed and mentions it to the family at breakfast. Some of the children, decide to build a ghost trap – no sure if the ghost is in fact a ghost or if it is another break in attempt.

Uninterested in ghosts, Ian is consumed with tracking down a necklace that he wants to give to Beth for Hogmanay, but the trail he followed has hit a wall and he calls in his half-brother Lloyd Fellows, a chief supervisor at Scotland Yard to help him.

Ian’s son Jamie is also trying to find the necklace in hopes of impressing his father. He gets his cousin Gavina and his father’s valet Curry to help him. Jamie and Gavina are pulled into the ghost hunt when Jamie sees the ghost after Gavina breaks in to Ian’s study.
With mysteries to solve and all the MacKenzies in attendance, this will turn out to be a very interesting and exciting Yuletide!!

I loved this novella, it was entertaining, well written, interesting and a lot of fun. Catching up with all the MacKenzies and seeing their children growing up was heartwarming and satisfying. And as always, I loved reading about Ian and Beth, they truly are one of my all-time favorite fictional couples and I never get tired of reading about them. This was a really wonderful read and while it is set at Christmastime, I didn’t really consider it a “holiday” read.

*I am voluntarily leaving a review for an eARC that was provided to me by NetGalley and the publisher.*

This was a fun one to read. I loved how the Mackenzie clan was all gathered for Christmas. While they all were together, they all were off doing their thing too. I loved Ian spending time with his kids and showing them how much he loved them in their own way. Loved how the older kids are starting to spread their wings, to show their how they are grown, yet they still want their approval. Then we had the ghost. It was fun to see them all prove if the ghost was real or not and what they did in the end. Overall this one was full of surprises and found me smiling while reading.

FINAL DECISION: For fans of the Mackenzie series, it was lovely to see all the characters that we have known and loved with the kids grown up a bit.

THE STORY: It's the holiday season for the Mackenzie family when Ian Mackenzie is trying to track down a necklace for his wife Beth, and a ghost seems to have invaded the Mackenzie household.

OPINION: This was an enjoyable book that is really for fans of the series because there are no real explanation of the characters or their histories. That is fine for me because I love these characters and am happy to spend more time with them especially because we are introduced to the next generation of Mackenzies (who we might have seen as small children but here we get to see their personalities). There is a plot, but I didn't particularly care about the resolution of the mystery. I just luxuriated in getting to see who these characters are now.

WORTH MENTIONING: After this novella, I'm hoping that we are going to get books about the younger Mackenzie generation.

CONNECTED BOOKS: A MACKENZIE YULETIDE is book 11.5 in the Mackenzie & McBrides series (or the Mackenzie series). It should be read after the Victorian era books in the series because its really an update about those characters.

STAR RATING: I give this book 4 stars.

A MacKenzie Yuletide is a super cute and fun holiday novella that takes place in December 1898. Mac is up late one night painting while the rest of the family is asleep but thinks he spies a ghost in the attic, a lady in white. The entire MacKenzie family is all together at Kilmorgan to celebrate Christmas and Hogmanay. While some of the family want to help Mac find proof of the ghost, Ian knows ghosts aren’t real and instead focuses on trying to acquire the perfect Hogmanay gift for Beth…which a couple of their children get involved with too.

I just always love seeing all the MacKenzies together and this read was such a delight! And omg my heart over seeing all their children growing up and getting older…this has me so excited for the next generation of MacKenzies reads. This was such a heartwarming read with updates on the couples and their children, holiday cheer, and 2 mini mysteries packed in! We also get appearances from David & Sophie Fleming from the previous book in the series.

A fun/cute filler novella. Mackenzie and McBrides come together for the holiday season. We have 2 mysteries. One involves a roaming ghost. (Who can this be?) The other is a missing necklace Ian is trying to find to buy his wife Beth. It's appeared and disappeared since the time it was dug up at an archeological dig. Ian is determined to find it.

We get a glimpse of all the kids, mostly dealing with those that are teens an older. We also see how much Beth is still the love of Ian's life.

Cute enough with a “ghost” and another robbery, focusing again mostly on Ian and Beth. It’s possible that they’re her most popular pairing but I’d love to have seen more of Mac and Isabel and Cam and Ainsley or even Hart and Eleanor. I did like the bit of Daniel and Violet and David and Sophie. All in all, it was cute and fine. I know Jamie will get a story but I’m a bit sad she stopped writing and none of the rest of the next generation will.

I read this book because it appeared on a list of books about Scotland I requested from the digital library. I wanted something fairly short so I could finish tonite. It filled the bill although the story seemed a bit disjointed and it assumed knowledge of the characters I did not have

This is a read for those who like long epilogues of their favorite characters living in a perfect world - they're rich, beautiful, in love with their spouses, no marital issues and have lots of sex. The ghost and the mystery of the stolen necklace are ho hum; even Ian who is the most interesting Mackenzie has nothing new for the reader.

These encore novellas are saccharine sweet and full of nothing. Especially the holiday ones. What useless treacle.
The competing small mysteries also overwhelmed this very short novella.

This is a good Christmas novella, in the Mackenzies series. It gets 4 stars from me.

I liked that this story contained all of the Mackenzies, their spouses, and their children. It provided an update on what was going on with all of them. It should be read after Rules for a Proper Governess.

I won't give spoilers, but I love how hard everyone worked together to catch their "ghost", and how Ian's children helped him find the perfect Christmas gift for Beth.

Some of what happened while they tried to catch their ghost was pretty funny. I won't give spoilers on exactly what they did, but I loved the part on how two of the boys triggered the camera.

I loved that Ian worked so hard to find the perfect gift for Beth. Ian is such a sweetheart, and always tries his hardest to make Beth and his children happy. He is my favorite Mackenzie!

My rating system is below.
1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it.
2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws.
3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating.
4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one.
5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.

Mackenzie Family and Clan ngumpul lagi..

Si Ian sibuk koresponden sana-sini buat nemuin kalung yg hilang diperjalanan dicuri ntah siapa. jadilah Ian dibantu Megan sm Fellow dan Curry berusaha buat mecahin teka-teki pencurinya.

Disini juga Jamie sm Sepupunya Gavina anaknya Cam. juga niat banget nemuin hadiah yg sama. smpe nyuri2 masuk ruang kerja Ian... ngehasut sepupunya yg laen buat ngerusakin "jebakan hantu" buat pengalih perhatian...

Ian kayak biasa. selalu lovable...

More fun with The Mackenzie family!

We are back with our beloved Ian and Beth Mackenzie and the rest of the family. I'm this story, again centered around Christmas, we get to see how the children have grown. The legacy of the Mackenzie's are moving into what will be the next chapter. Ian has, (IMO), shown the biggest change. He seems better able to cope with others in a more personal level. It seems his understanding of human interaction has gotten much better, although, he still doesn't meet the eyes of most people. I love how he is so protective of his family. Also, how he is with his son! If you fell for any of the Mackenzie's in other stories, you'll enjoy reading about the family in this one. Just to short for me! Can't wait to see how the new characters come into play!
