James Hunt's passion for writing began at an early age. While his journal of yesteryear may never be the work of great fiction, he's been working hard every day since then to bring pages to life. James has well over a decade of writing under his belt, but his professional career in literature didn't take off until 2014.
James currently lives in Orlando, FL and when he's not pounding away at the keyboard you can find him at the theater or somewhere outside enjoying the beautiful Florida weather.
The Sleeping Girls (previously titled: The Dressmaker) - This is my first read by this author and I was not impressed, nor did I like the book, the writing style and the serious lack of editing, which interrupted the flow of the story continuously. The characters are OK and very human but don't expect a field of wildflowers on a sunny spring day. There are major problems in many of their lives and this is the seedy, dark side of life. The female rookie cop was likeable and evoked pity and support from me; she was trying to survive and rise above her past. Her character gives this book a higher rating than I would have given it otherwise.
Since the writing style is so Hollywood and with the constant interruptions, I had a hard time giving this book a chance. I tried but quit at 38 percent and skimmed the last two chapters, although I did not care how it ended. I will not be reading anything more by Mr. Hunt, since I personally believe he will never make it as one of the big boys in this genre, even if he starts editing. I found this book on Booksprout. 3*
A junkie cop saves the day. She breaks the rules, violates the most basic civil rights, sleeps with an informant and they still want to promote her.
This is not a badly written book and it certainly held my interest. But the identity of the serial killer was a disappointment. He revealed himself; no great police work here. It became more and more preposterous. It didn't generate a whole lot of sympathy for the victims or for that matter the heroine. Too much calling uber and shooting up. Hard to believe that no one noticed she was high as a kite most of the time. Did think the portrayal of addiction was convincing but not Office Susie Q.
Such a riveting story, full of suspense and action. The main character was very well written, giving a life like personality that you couldn't help but have empathy and passion for. All the UPS and downs, the eagerness to want her to succeed. The only downfall of the otherwise very well written story, was at times it seemed as the author, not knowing how to proceed looped in information that was given over again, or he simply wanted the audience to fully embrace the the emotions the charter felt, either way it was repetitive. Lastly, the ending was a bit lack luster. B+
Riveting thriller with a surprise killer that I did not foresee right off the bat. I loved the books protagonist. A smart and driven vice detective who is chasing demons of her own. The plot however deals with characters involved with hard drugs and prostitution in a realistic manner so it might be a bit much for some readers but it's not over the top. I am looking forward to additional books from this author featuring this character.
A very good story that I enjoyed very much. It did need a bit of editing but it did not distract from the story. I enjoyed the characters, especially the main character. I hope to see more from this author.

I had downloaded this book on my Fire, but never got around to reading it until I had a long airplane flight. Initially I thought I would watch in flight movies, but got hooked by the narrative and didn't put it down until I finished it. The conclusion was a surprise, and overall the book was well written.
Well I enjoyed the book and the people were special but there not much of a ending or is this a series the women in the book seam to be to wimp and I know that nursery hard then what you put the nurse out to be
Well I don't have 20 words to put sorry it still need more to submit the review if your done that is that

This book was okay to read but whoever was the editor\proofeader should be fired. There are so many typos and grammatical errors it irked me to no end. I feel that if you're going to publish a book it should be proofread well, and this book certainly wasn't. \
I gave Mr Hunt and his book a five star rating because the story line was thrilling and was refreshingly different. I also loved that he didn't put what I call filler junk in it like the blade of grass was blowing in the wind. Great 👍
A female cop is working undercover to bust the drug gangs but she has a bit of dirty history herself. Great book . I'm hoping there will be a continuation! ⭐⭐⭐⭐Four stars
This was a good beginning to what I see as a series. Getting to know Suzie, her growing abilities as a good cop, her relationship with Charlie, and her on going battles with addiction, gang retaliation and the bosses. Great start. Look forward to learning more.
This is a very well written story, this author has done an excellent job in wording this story, in which any of its might find ourselves in. Great characters, will throughout plot and a happy ending. Great job!
I liked the story....liked the characters. The only part I disliked was the fact that while undercover, the main character resumed the use of heroin and once her assignment was over, her supervisor seemed to overlook her addiction.
The book kept you on your toes until the end. The main character although flawed still did her job and had purpose. Loved tho twist as to who the killer was. Nice happy endin.
Hard to figure how a junkie cop keeps her badge but good read. Liked the lead character. Kind of a slow read making me want to skip parts. Kind of forgot who the bad guy was in the story because he really wasn’t a big part of the book ??? Overall surprise ending.
This is a great book. The characters are well developed and it’s a great story. It kept me coming back to finish as quickly as I could. I highly recommend it
I liked the character of Susan, because as flawed as she was, she never gave up. The only complaint I had was the editing in parts of the story could have been improved.
Because of all the bustle of the holidays as well as health issues, this took way to long to read. I really did enjoy it once I was able to take the time. If reading this series you might just really like this one.
