Unlucky in love and overwhelmed by the aftermath of a breakup, Sarah Thompson impulsively bought a lottery ticket...and won. She promised herself that winning the lottery would not change her. Now that she doesn’t have to worry about paying her bills, Sarah can do more to help people in their small town. When men show up at her job, at the town's favorite pub, with marriage proposals, Sarah finds herself out of a job and at odds with her friends. All she wanted was to be comfortable in her small town. Now she feels like she doesn’t belong.
Every day for four years, Gavin Bloom has sat at Sarah’s table for lunch. He had a crush on her but had been too busy working in his law career to do anything about it. Before anyone could get to Sarah, Gavin took her on as a client and offered her some free advice. Watch out for anyone who tries to get close to you.
As they spend more time together, Sarah sees a side of Gavin that melts her heart. Then again nothing can happen between them. She’s just a waitress and he’s a lawyer. When the lines between friendship and romance blur, Sarah is torn between following Gavin’s advice and listening to her heart.
She’s had a lot of luck. What she wants is love. Is it fair to ask for a little of both?
Merri Maywether writes heartwarming small-town romances filled with second chances, found family, and happily-ever-afters.
Now retired from her career as a school librarian, she spends her days sharing stories, buddy reading with her community, and writing tales where cinnamon-roll heroes and strong heroines discover love in the most unexpected places.
When she isn’t writing, Merri enjoys Montana mornings, coffee on the porch, and celebrating the little moments that make life feel like a love story.
This is a nice, clean romance involving two thirty-somes who find love that develops from a long friendship. Although the premise is that she wins a huge lottery that actually turns out to be a minor part of the story. It is really about finding the right person and having the right priorities. A pleasant read. I won a copy of this book in a Goodreads giveaway for this honest review.
I loved this. I read the sample then purchased this book. The writers descriptions made me feel I was in a movie with them. Wonderful scenes. Love the underlying theme. It is more blessed to give then receive!
