In the thrilling conclusion to the Enter Darkness series, Brad must race to save the lives of those closest to him, as well as find and reconcile the previous events with his father. It’s impossible to know who to trust, and as technology gives way to nature, and human advancement gives way to natural instinct, will only the strong survive?
It’s a new dawn, and a new tomorrow. Can Brad save those he loves most? Can he even save himself?
This is the fifth book in the Enter Darkness series.
( Format : Audiobook ) "Did she ever get back to Kansas?" The fifth and final instalment of the post apocalyptic serial, Enter Darkness, finds Brad still looking over irritating and deceitful Anna, who had been shot in the leg by his father before leaving with the two children and all remaining supplies. Despite her protestations to leave her, Brad naturally stays with Anna, wrapping her sound before, together, the set off in search of Sammy and Martha, lacking almost anything with which they might survive (including, it seemed, common sense).
This started as a terrific series, different from most, but this final episode and the one preceding it, just didn't have that feeling of honesty present in the earlier onds. Nevertheless, it was a quick and easy read and great!y enhanced by the narration of Andrew Wahrlen, who's pleasant voice read text and conversations briskly, with good emphasis and intonation. Without his fine performance, I would have had difficulty bothering to listen to the end.
My thanks to the rights holder of First Light, who, at my request via Audiobook Boom, freely gifted with a complimentary copy. As previously mentioned, as a whole this was a most enjoyable and different post apocalyptic series, well worth reading even if this, the series finale, is less inspiring.
This is the fifth book in the series. It is almost my favorite of the series. I have been waiting and waiting for some happiness and luck for poor Brad. He has really had it tough for the last five or six months. I thought finding his father, Lee, was going to be a blessing but he also changed with the times. I was shocked and surprised at what happened in here...well actually through the whole 5 books.
I loved this series. Make sure you read them all to get the full effect of the devastation and loss of humanity. The author did a good job keeping me interesting in the storyline. Loving and crazy characters were written well. I enjoyed listening to this series
Andrew B Wehrlen did a wonderful job on this series.
I decided to read this final book just to finish the series. Overall, the series has been mostly readable, though I found it hard to engage with the characters. Anna was pretty awful; she was too erratic and untrustworthy, though this final book did provide some historical context for that. Brad was more likable but for the most part, he was inept and tepid. Lee was just evil and crazy. After all of the set-up from the previous books for a climatic showdown in this one, it was underwhelming. The confrontation was predictable but it ended randomly and not through the decisiveness of anyone. The very end of the book is rainbows and unicorns.
You made me so happy for Lee to be alive and then crushed that down quick! Great story of a reluctant hero. I would love to see this story continue and the new community thrive even if it is 6 years later. Brad and Anna finally get some peace and love! Andrew did an amazing job narrating. He is one of my top two favorite narrators.
I was voluntarily provided this review copy at no charge by the author, publisher and or narrator.
This series of books takes you through a roller coaster of human emotions and reactions to the end of the world as the characters know it. The author has cleverly woven the different aspects of people's reactions to disaster, whether good or bad, and each book cleverly leads you to the next instalment and the main characters journey through dark times. Is there redemption for the world? Read this brilliant series to find out.
Loose ends were tied up and the series was ended. Lackluster at best. Prepper fiction needs factual details..... When the lead character takes someone's pulse with his thumb, all respect for the writing is lost. No wilderness or survival details. It's too bad because the first 3 books were great.
I had to wait a long time for the last book but it was worth it. Everything is wrapped up nicely. One thing I always find poorly done in these books about the post apocalypse is the characters have no problem with birth control. Before the 60s that was a challenge for all couples.
Really good series of books. Fast paced . I liked the character's Brad and Anna. I thought they were likeable and complex characters , you are rooting for them to get together. It was full of just enough physcos for you to dislike and hope they came to a horrible end. If you haven't read this series you should !!
Fifth and last installment of a post-apocalyptic series. A very poor conclusion. Seems forced. Too much philosophy and exposition. When the action finally gets going, too many fortunate coincidences take place. Contains a 5-year-in-the-future epilogue to say they all lived happily ever after.
Everyone has been working hard to make it in this new world. Loved ones long gone, New communities have began and ended. Horror and evil still lurking around every corner. As one evil ends, New life and hope begin.
