The sight of brightly colored eggs scattered across the grass and baskets overflowing with candy can mean only one Easter is upon us. But in a culture focused on the pastel glories of the season, many forget the true meaning of this sacred day. When focused on the excitement of the Easter bunny, it is all too easy to overlook the Lamb, the Son of God, who sacrificed His life so we can overcome our sins and afflictions. Gospel instructor Ron Millburn draws on scripture, prophetic counsel, and personal narrative to invite readers to remember the Savior this Easter holiday, for there could be no greater reason to celebrate than the Lamb.
I love the way the author uses scriptures, prophetic counsel and personal experiences to help the reader remember the Savior at Easter. Particularly touching was the family acting out their personal experience beginning with the preexistence, the adults' births, a mission, marriage, births of the children, and finally their deaths and reunion on the other side. I read this part to my family this past Easter.
This was a gift to me at Easter that I thoroughly enjoyed. The author said "when you focus too much on the pastel glories of the season, many forget the true meaning". He tells us to celebrate the Lamb not the Bunny. In the end tells of his own life with a wife and 6 children and how they acted out coming to earth then returning back to Heavenly Father. Little did he know that 20 years later his wife would actually go back and leave him with some children still young.
This is a great, quick read to remind us about the true meaning of Easter. There are wonderful connections and ideas related to Jesus Christ's atonement and resurrection in this book that I had ever thought about before, and which made me more grateful to Him for those things that He did.
