Europe is on the road to war. The year is 1933 and John finds himself in Paris, once again forced to flee for his life. But when he discovers that his pursuer Ronald Bell is dead, he takes the chance to return to England.

But with the baggage of a dead man and his old friends looking to force him into their service again, John realises he can’t start a new life now that he’s a rich man. Torn between saving his own skin and doing the right thing, John has to fight both his friends and his family.

James Farner is a professional writer and draws upon his love of fiction and his love of stories that span generations. His signature series Made in Yorkshire was born out of a desire to find out ‘what happened next?’

At the end of every good film, book, or TV show the characters disappear and that’s the end of them. James isn’t alone in the desire to find out what happened to the characters afterwards.

This is how Made in Yorkshire appeared. Starting from 1953 and driving on to the modern day, James explores the different eras of Britain through his colourful cast of characters.

Prior to writing fiction, he enjoyed a career as a freelance writer. His writing has appeared online, in magazines, and in a variety of other publications.

When not writing, he can be found sketching, watching sports, and playing the tin whistle.

Love, love, love this series!

This is a fantastic series, and this final book was as good as the rest!

This book about a young man who rises from the slums of an industrial English town at the beginning of the twentieth century continues as John has returned from self-imposed exile in France to his hometown. It is now 1933 and Germany's fascist movement is wheeling its way into England and having its insidious effect on John's life both personally and in business.

I love the fact that John is not interested in politics but understands the machinations of the fascists as they use blackmail to gain access to his town a use his son in the process.

I understand this to be the series finale and wish it continued as there are unanswered issues with regard to his hometown, family, friends and business associates.

Oh well! Can't have everything! I will definitely highly recommend this series to readers of historical fiction. I plan to read more book/series by this author in future.
