"Disappointing"
This had everything I dislike in a cozy mystery. Bad language; a cliff-hanger ending to entice me to buy the next book, and a plot that beggared belief. When the writer painted themselves into a corner... oh, how fortunate the character had worked as a 'such and such' in their teens so they knew the correct procedure to follow. At least that gave me a laugh.

The title caught my eye and an added benefit was that it is free on Amazon. It is a story of two flaky best friends, Dora, an accountant, and Evie, a serial job changer. Dora gets into trouble when she suspects money laundering in the company where she works and investigates. She decides to put the evidence on a flash drive but is caught by the owner. Before he realizes what she has done, she slipped it in an envelop for Evie containing a birthday gift and someone took it to be mailed for her. But he threatens Dora with a gun and in a struggle, it goes off, hits him, and Dora flees. The same day, Evie is fired at her job at the dry cleaners. The two work together to keep Dora hidden from the son of the owner and his long reaching arms. But they trust the wrong person and the book is a long action packed story of trying to recover the flash drive and stay alive. This is a funny, almost silly, saga. It is different from other cozy mysteries that I have read with language and content even though in a light presentation. I was surprised and may not read the other books in the series.

To be continued! I detest books that are to be continued. The author could, at least end the current story lines. In addition the amateur detectives suddenly have whatever skills are required to get them out of every situation: martial arts, a handy weapon, a friend suddenly showing up or whatever. I was very disappointed in this book.

This was a very simple cozy mystery. It was only okay. The book had several typos, which bothered me. The ending was so fast and abrupt that I was surprised! This was a free book, but it still should be a "finished" book. I won't be reading any of the other books in this series.

I finished this book and I am angry! I hate books that leave you hanging so that you buy/read the next in the series. They should come with a warning! I was willing to overlook the numerous typos because I was really enjoying the characters and the story but I was furious by the time I came to the abrupt ending. I was going to praise this book and say this is what I expect and enjoy from a cozy mystery, not anymore. If the, in this case authors, are not confident enough in their writing that you will read the next in the series then there is something wrong. It's not a soap opera or a tv series that needs to end with a cliffhanger! My opinion is that each book should stand alone on its own merits. In case you can't tell I will not be reading the next in the series even if it's free.

Me, My Best Friend and the Mailman
This is a humorous cozy mystery. Two best friends Dora and Evie work to solve the Money laundering mystery and prove Dora's innocence in the murder of her boss.
Along the way they enlist the services of Billy the local mailman, Luke the cute chef and wannabe boyfriend for Dora and Evie's small dog Sunshine. They escape obstacles along the way, trust the wrong people and get into some pretty tricky situations.
It was a cute story and I enjoyed reading it. The only problem is it ends with a cliff hanger for the next book and in order to find out what happens you have to read the next book.

2.5 stars. It was ok but I just wasn't that engaged and the characters felt a bit flat. Plus certain characters behaviours and motivations seemed random. Then, after all that, the story ends without a resolution. And it is for that grievous sin that I have rounded down rather than up. If I have said it once I have said it a thousand times - if you are writing a story, write a complete damn story.

This is quite possibly the worst book I've ever read. Cozy mysteries are generally somewhat unbelievable but this book takes it too far. I didn't like the writing, characters, or plot.

A new category of cozy mystery this month led me to this book.
Dora accidentally discovers the truth about her employer which leads to all kinds of trouble for her from murder to kidnapping to rescue and fleeing Dora with her best friend Evie try to uncover all the facts.

Cliffhanger
Cute cozy, in its own way, but a little sophomoric on the behavior of the main characters. Had I known this was a true cliffhanger book, I would not have picked it to read. Deanna Chase (one of this book's two authors) is a much better writer than this book reflects, and has other, much better series. Disappointed overall, especially with the fact of the book being a cliffhanger. That's never OK, and the series isn't worth $5 per book to find out what happens next.

I love the author(s) I can't stand the plot nor the characters. I love the Maine series so much more than this.

This series has promise. I like the 2 main characters and it looks like the following few books will be the continuing journey to finish the case from the first book. My only criticism is that there was a bit too much focus on romance since this is a murder mystery, however I feel the book is very much a set up for the series so perhaps later books will focus more on murder.

Was quite disappointed in this book. I read many different series, but a serial is much different than a series. This was a serial book. And I don't like serial books. I don't watch soap operas, serial movies and don't read serial books. I only read stand alone books. I have no desire to be left hanging at the end of a book and wait until the next book comes out to ascertain how it ends. Needless to say, I won't be following any more books in this serial.
And, while I am at it, the writer might invest in hiring someone to proofread. The sentences that need words added in order for them to make sense are numerous.
It is a shame, because the writer has a good imagination and with a little time and effort and PROOFREADING could most likely write an exemplary book.

I love a good mystery with lots of action and humor but a little romance sweetens the pot. Meet Dora who is an accountant who discovers a laundering scheme. After finding the scheme you have a murder and then the plot thickens. Add in a corrupt cop named Brian with cohorts in crime. And let the action begin. Now let’s meet Luke at an interesting shop who has an interest in Dora and well you have mystery, romance with lots of action and plot twists. You must include the really smart dog, Sunshine , and her owner Evie who happens to be Dora’s best friend and cohort in this adventure.

This was a fun story, with well developed characters, a bit of humor, and a bit of intrigue.
I had two major problems with this story.
1) There was no major mystery solved in the story.
2) At the end of the story, the story just stopped! There was no ending, and there was no sense of closure.
I have read many books from this authors other series, and this is very unlike her. I will probably read one more story out of the series, and then make a decision as to whether I will continue with it or not.

I just found too many farfetched situations in this book. If something isn't believable it just hits me the wrong way. I managed to finish the book but I won't be reading the rest of the series, although I might try another book by its author depending on the genre.

The worst book I’ve ever read that I will absolutely recommend to everyone I know.

This was a very entertaining, fast paced, and enjoyable read. And just like with the previous series, the authors had me hooked immediately. The writing is flawless, the plot is fantastic, and the characters well developed, amazing and lovable.
There are two main characters here, best friends Dora and Evie, and although there is a hint of romance for each of them, the romance is not the focus of the story. The focus is on suspense and the chain of events caused by some snooping with good intentions, and a series of unfortunate follow up events. Not everything is what it seems and not everyone is as nice and naive as they present themselves.
Dora is a more reserved of the two, she is an accountant and a very observant individual. She is driven by the need to do the right thing and help people. Evie is a free spirit, incredibly charming and has a heart full of love and devotion to her best friend. Then there is Sunshine, the cutest smartest little dog.
There are several other interesting characters in the story, Billy the main delivery guy, Luke the mysterious chef, Brian the cop, Marco the shady entrepreneur, and Trace the rock star. They are all interesting, either lovable or irresistible to hate, and well developed.
Unlike the previous series, which consisted of standalone stories with a couple of major themes spanning throughout all the books, this one has a clear cut cliffhanger and a continuation of the story in the following book. I really like that. I can't help it, I love a good cliffhanger.

Like all cozy mysteries, entertaining to read. Loved Sunshine, but who doesn't love a cute pet in a story. Dogs are smart, smarter than we sometimes give them credit for so I loved having a pet in this story.
Dora is an accountant who finds a discrepancy in the books so decides to snoop a little in the office of the boss' son. Thinking there is no way her boss knows about the discrepancy, she saves a copy of what she finds on his son's computer onto a flash drive and gets caught by her boss. Unfortunately for her, he isn't as unaware as she thought and pulls a gun on her. In the ensuing scuffle, the gun goes off and her boss is killed. She does what most people think about doing, she runs, but not before she decides to mail the flash drive to her friend Evie. Unfortunately, things don't go as planned. Marco, the boss' son, believes she killed his father, and wants revenge. The cops believe she killed him too so with the help of Evie, her best friend and owner of sweet Sunshine, she is forced to prove her innocence. From one escapade to another, where they find themselves caught between the money launderers and their associates, bad cops, and having to save a kidnapped mail carrier, with some being saved of their own by a hot chef, these two find themselves way over their heads, but somehow one step ahead of the bad guys. There were definitely some funny moments and a lot of miraculous saves because sorry, for most of us, the damned alligator would have won, for 2 women completely out of their element...even with Evie's jack of multiple trades skills.

I guess this is what one calls a "cozy mystery." It was cute, with fluffy characters who become amateur detectives, for some reason do not call the police when things get especially dangerous (I mean, really, why would you call the cops if shots were fired?).
Dora (the smart one) and Evie (the looker) are besties from kindergarten and find themselves in a pickle.
Dora has accidentally shot and killed her boss while Evie has gotten fired, yet again, from some dead end job.
Together they try to find a way to keep Dora from jail. Dora swears it was an accident but the fact that she fled the scene is not something that innocent people (should) do.
Cute situations arise and of course, they worm their way out of them (there are at least 4 books in this series, they cannot die in the first installment, come on!).
Evie has this (annoying) dog that understands English and is able to respond (in dog) to questions and commands and other people's conversations.
Here is the only bad thing (probably good for book sales but...) this ends without a true ending. I mean we the reader know who did what to whom and why but we do not have supporting evidence because it ends before it is collected. So Dora is not exactly exonerated and the "bad guys" are not exactly convicted.
It just ends....but the ending is the set up for the next book Mischief in New Orleans.

1. The voice used for Evie was unbearable. I wanted to high-pitched wannabe sex-kitten comes to mind. (Audiobook from the library)
2. Too many unclear things followed by unbelievable things.
3. Nothing got resolved

Normally I am a paranormal romance or sci fi romance reader but it read Lucy Quinn last series and was hooked! So I had to see if she could get me again. Lol OMG she did
The story is about Dora who is an accountant for the restaurant two to mango it's the perfect job maybe just too perfect. Her best friend is Evie and that girl has had way to many jobs . She also has a love interest named Trace who is a rock singer.
As things get crazy Dora gets attached to a great guy named Luke and there is a sweet mailman Billy that gets pulled into all this craziness lol oh and bad guys don't forget them. Lol
I can't ready tell you more because it will just spoil the fun for you so I'll let you read it. And OMG I am so hooked on this series too. Awesome story. Great characters! It's got mystery, action, drama, betrayal, humor, and so much more. Don't miss it. I couldn't put it down and can't wait for the next book to come out. It's an adventure.

If you enjoy mystery and merriment coupled with intriguing locales and unforgettable characters, this series is highly recommended. Dora and Evie are BFFs with a sense of adventure and a knack for trouble. After Dora discovers illegal business dealings by her employer’s son, she becomes the primary suspect in the employer’s death; and with the help of Evie and some colorful assistants and villains sets out to prove her innocence. From a strip joint, to an adult emporium, to an alligator farm and then on to a senior center, the journey proceeds with ever increasing urgency and laugh out loud situations. Now as the book ends, the two friends are on their way to New Orleans In search of a flash drive, hoping to finally obtain the definitive evidence to show that Dora is no murderer. I expect Bourbon Street has some surprises for the determined duo and I intend to be along for the ride.
