All my life, I've never fit in. Since the accident, I went from foster home to foster home until I just ran away. I thought life would always be like that. Scraping by, barely living. That is, until I was chosen. The Ravanas saved me. They brought me to The Fort so I could become a part of their world. Wanted. Secure. Training to be their human guardian was the only way they could let me in. Except, it's also the most dangerous. Now, we all have enemies--even me. Together, we must fight to keep the bond between us, or lose the most precious gift I've ever received.
E. M. Moore is a USA Today Bestselling author of Contemporary and Paranormal Romance. She's drawn to write within the teen and college-aged years where her characters get knocked on their asses, torn inside out, and put back together again by their first loves. Whether it's in a fantastical setting where human guards protect the creatures of the night or a realistic high school backdrop where social cliques rule the halls, the emotions are the same. Dark. Twisty. Angsty. Raw.
When Erin's not writing, you can find her dreaming up vacations for her family, watching murder mystery shows, or dancing in her kitchen while she pretends to cook.

2nd re-read: 3.5 It was cool to re-visit the world. I like the action/badassery, but I am not buying the insta-love. Also, if they wanted her as a partner. Why couldn't they just ask to turn her like Natalie did with Alex?
While I enjoyed Ariana getting stronger and finding her place in a new world, I just had too many problems with this story. The Prince’s seem obsessed with her, they all fall in love so easily I couldn’t even tell you when it happened or why honestly. The characters were all so bland and one dimensional that it was hard to tell the Prince’s apart in any deeper way than the superficial names she had saved in her phone. There was no real reason why she was chosen and while I feel that it has something to do with the accident and maybe something like her being a half-vampire I really just couldn’t care enough to find out. If the Prince’s wanted her why couldn’t they have her changed like others in the book did, at the very least why wasn’t this a question Ariana asked herself. It was an easy enough read but everything was superficial and not fully fleshed out, will not be reading the next one.
This of was a very good lighthearted romance that sees Ariana A girl whose became an orphan when her family was killed in a tragic car accident. One night Ariana is kidnapped and brought to the vampire world we're she is to be trained to become a guard to the 4 vampire princess Christian, Nikolai, Stephan and Connor. Each Prince is very unique with a side of mischief that draws you to each and as their connection grows so does the story. This was a lovely beginning to the series it was a little quick in sense that she meets these vampire princes and are drawn to them straight way but I liked that idea, and that there are 4 to begin with. Who doesn't want four vampire princes to cherish them. But the 5 of them will have to keep on their toes as there are those who want to see the old way stay as they are and Ariana and her princes are right smack in the middle of it
2.5⭐️ Let me start out by saying that if this is your first E.M. Moore book, you shouldn’t take this as her standard of writing. If you loved it, yay! But if you didn’t, I recommend picking up the Heights Crew saga for an amazing experience.
Was this even written by E.M.?!? If I didn’t absolutely love Moore’s later books and go have a look at reviews for the next book in this series I would’ve given up before halfway. The spelling and grammatical mistakes, and repetitive sentences were really hard to handle and I’d recommend to the author to have someone comb back through to edit these. I ended up skim reading a lot of the book due to this and mainly focusing on dialog sections. 😅
I suppose it was a typical YA book with forbidden love, a lot of dramatic events for effect and soo many questions that aren’t answered in the first book, but the suspense was more annoying than exciting as we got barely any answers.
I’m excited for book 2 though to get these answers I desperately need!
Ariana (FMC) has had a crap life, and with every bad she has tried to stay positive and not question the “why’s” that life has thrown her way. However, after being kidnapped while running, she might just be to the point of breaking. She was taken to become a bodyguard for Vampires…yeah that one was a shock for her also. Vampires are real and they use human bodyguards…what?? This story has its moments of odd, but it truly reads so well that the characters and world build beautifully. But once again she fights back and shows that she is an amazing young woman. This is a really good slow burn with lots of tension in a Vampire/Human story. TW/18+
There are so many plot holes and pretentious writing that I found myself thinking why am I wasting my time with this book. It does not get better at some point. The relationship is forced, does not develop, or moves at space steps. There are no decent explanations for what is happening, the world-building and everything else. Honestly, I don't know what was the reason for the book at all? The no sex and touching? The insta love>? Then you are chosen but why nobody knows? There are so many questions and not a single answer that makes sense.
3.5 stars. This was a fun, quick ride. I love Ariana’s stubbornness and how it’s tempered with just the right amount of self doubt. I usually prefer a slower relationship development, but this time the near instant connection was still enjoyable, in part because you get the feeling there’s a lot under the surface we don’t know yet and this wasn’t quick or instant for the guys. Mysteries to be revealed in future books I hope. Plus I’m always soft for overprotective LIs and lots of hurt comfort.
This is a slow burn RH book and it's perfect for those just starting in that world. You follow Ariana who quickly gets taken from her human world to a world of vampires. She is forced to train among people who have spent their whole lives waiting for an opportunity to guard some of the most prestigious vampires. Like I mentioned, this is slow burn, and I really enjoyed the build up of tension between the princes and Ariana. It was also fun to watch Ariana evolve into this girl who can quickly stand up for herself.
A girl gets grabbed off the street and taken to a facility that trains humans to guard vampires. Turns out, 4 princes specifically selected her. She then becomes besties (more?) with the princes even though they can't be more than friends? Guard/Guarded? But there is zero explanation (that I recall) of why. Why her? Why were they watching her in the first place? Why even have human guards?? And there is zero reveal of anything. You don't have to give everything away but none of this made any sense.
I really liked this story. It's very similar to Vampire Academy except instead of Dhampyrs, its human guards. The storyline is easy to follow. The council is full of stuck up old people with archaic ideas and prejudice. There is conflict brewing on the horizon and let's not forgot that it's against the law for the characters to be together.
I wasn't completely entranced by this book, but it was a really easy great read.
Ariana hasn't had a easy life. She lost her mother in a tragic car crash and bounced around in foster care. She ran away and has learned to survive. Her world flips on its head during her night run and nothing is same again. She decides to choose her destiny with the help of her 4 hot princes. Things are not easy but she is willing to push herself and accomplish her goals. She plans to fulfill her goals and theirs.
I liked this series. The characters and storylines were interesting and intriguing. I liked the different take on vampires. Things started to fall apart for me when the FMC never questioned anything! I also don’t like the insta love concept. I don’t know if the author is continuing with these characters, but I felt like too much was left open ended. I would have liked a more concrete ending.
Overall a pretty solid book. I would’ve liked the conflict and the end to be drawn out a bit more but I understand that there are still a couple books left in the series so the author needs to have some kind of overarching plot which seems to be that (I’m trying not to say what is is because it’s kind of a spoiler).
When I first started this book I couldn’t figure out where it was going. I never expected it to turn out the way it did. It was a pretty good story though but I am still wondering why she was chosen. Hopefully it will be in the next book. It’s a really good read and I know other readers will enjoy it too.
I really enjoyed this. I’ve never read any vampire books and I just knew I wouldn’t be able to get into it. I was wrong. This series was recommended to me by the author during a live in her Facebook group and she was correct in knowing I’d love it. Can’t wait to read the next one.
I liked the book. The story was good but a little to weird. Humans who trans to protect supernatural creatures? It was a bit out of the world for me. The reason she was chosen remains a mystery, although I believe it has something to do with her mother’s death. The guys are amazing!!
I love this story, I just wish it was edited better. The grammar made it painful for me. I love the story so much though I try to forgive the poor grammar.
