THE NEXT CHAPTER IN THE SHADOW DETECTIVE STORY BEGINS.
A supernatural assassin haunts my city, sworn to a mission of vengeance. Skilled in the deadliest martial arts, bound by the blackest codes of honor, devoted to the cruelest of masters.
In ancient Japan, they called him Akumo, the nightmare ninja. An agent of darkness who spread death and destruction across the land. Now, four centuries later, Akumo has found a way to return from the grave and terrorize the modern world.
Countless souls have already perished under the monster’s hungry blade. And now it’s my turn.
Can I stop an undead ninja from resurrecting an unspeakable evil? Or will I become the latest victim of the dragon’s curse?
A Japanese display is at the local museum . A myth has come to life . Death comes to the 3 people , last of their samurai lines, and the ninja wants their dragons .
This was an awesome story of the Shadow Detective. Loosing everyone he loves and is supported by, Raven is lost and fearful. Without his Mentor, he feels he is nothing and hides from the world for several months. Cyon has the solution, but Raven won't take it. Cyon wants out of the sword, Hell Breaker, and is willing to do what he has to do to get his wish. He offers his help but Raven doesn't like his solution. Now an evil Ninja awakens and a blood bath begins. Benson, the cop , calls in Raven, but the Ninja is unstoppable. A story that keeps you enthralled as magical dragons rein terror at the museum. Raven, Benson and Cyon are on the run. Will they run out of options as dark magic is on the cusp of winning. A must read.
I'd forgotten how great this series is. Mike Raven gets tangled up in another demonic mess. William Massa's writing style has you sucked in from the first page! This latest book is exciting and will have you hooked until it's finished! I'm looking forward to reading the next one!! Highly recommend reading this series and all his other books. You won't be disappointed
After defeating Morgal and completing his life's work, Raven is left to reflect on the true cost. However, evil still controls the Cursed City and he is soon facing a new threat. A new chapter in the series, as Raven and Cyon continue to battle the darkness.
This may be my favourite so far. However, the bar seems to be constantly raised with each subsequent book!
The story sprints off at an amazing pace, barely time to catch breath. The delightful Witch Hunter turned demon, Cyon, is always a thorough treat. I never get bored of him!
I have always found the love interest, Archer, to be pretty unlikable for some reason. So naturally, I love a book where she doesn't appear. It's not that I mind there being a love interest; it's just I find her a bit tedious and annoying. Personal preferences, of course.
I loved the set up here - a kind of Night at the Museum gone wrong. I can't wait for the next one.
Another enjoyable Shadow Detective book. It loses a star, however, because it is so short - more of a novella than a novel. Still, it is fun following the trials and tribulations of Raven as he fights the dark side of the Cursed City, now without the help of his friend and mentor, Skulick, and his love, Archer but with the usually unwelcome help of the demon, Cyon.
Loved Raven and Cyon as a team. They never let me down. This one had more serious undertones if you ask me and the author wasn't afraid to have a decent body. Always a fun read. Is it June 30th yet?
What a great read. What is on the short side of a series of books on the short side, but it's gripping, one of the most enjoyable, well paced, picks up some loose ends from the previous book, and moves along nicely. Not just your normal haunting or demon, this has a Japanese leaning. At the end a nice lead into the next book. There's still the issue with the Crimson Circle which I hope will be addressed again soon.
This takes place just a couple months after the last book. The events in hell took its toll on everyone. This was a crazy story and left me wanting more!! A very quick paced story and gave us some possibilities for the future.....i hope!!!
Dragon Curse is the tenth book in the Shadow Detective series by William Massa. The author came up with yet another interesting plot in this book that took him to the edge of the skills of Raven. He really struggled in this book, especially missing his mentor, now not having his demon with him anymore and totally under prepared! The odds were totally stacked against him so it was interesting to see how Raven would get himself out of this mess.
The book was as it is this authors style on the faster side, which is perfectly ok. It is rather action packed with something happening almost at all times giving you only some time to breath, again perfectly ok since I don't like being bored.
All in all this was an entertaining read and I will definitely pick up the next one in this series. This one was definitely very stand alone.
