When dragon-shifter Trystan wanted to come out of hiding and help the humans in World War II, his fellow dragons turned their back on him.
Now, his ex-commander is at his door asking for help. But does she really need it or is there something deeper going on?
One thing’s for certain, Trystan believes that if you can help, you should.
But what will his aid cost him?
You’ll love this stand alone short urban fantasy story following Trystan from the Rune Witch Mysteries because it’s full of magic and adventure that’s hard to put down.
Victoria DeLuis is a short story author and novelist, who loves reading – everything – and writing paranormal cosy mysteries, light urban fantasy, supernatural romantic suspense, and the occasional sci-fi.
She was born and raised in South Wales, where she still lives with her husband, daughter, three overlord cats and a doting dog. This offers her a rich heritage and mythology to use in her stories.
A short story about Trystan who was a dragon in exile for many long years from the Silure Dragon Clan. If you’re familiar with the Rune Witch Mysteries series you will recognize his name, but this book delves deeper into his character. You will also realize his deep and trusting friendship with Thomas and Summer (also of The Rune Witch Mysteries). Plus your eyes will be opened to the true nature of Megan, the daughter of the Clan leader. This is a great story to supplement the other books by Ms DeLuis. It is very well written with clever twists you never thought would happen. Thoroughly enjoyable.
This surprisingly great paranormal thriller features Tristan, a dragon shifter who has been exiled from his dragon clan because he sympathizes with humans and wants to help them. Now a stone very valuable to the dragon folk has been stolen, along with some jewels, and Tristan is approached to assist with the recovery. The search for this amazing stone is what sets off the adventure, and the plot will twist and turn leading to a totally unexpected resolution. The only reason I deducted one star is that at some point the human characters who help Tristan seem to steal the show and become too instrumental in the unraveling of the mystery. Go ahead and try Exile. It will please in many ways.
There is a problem when a dragon goes bad and mistreats her counterparts with lies and hurtful deeds. This is a lovely tale of good and evil among Welsh dragons. I will remember and re-read it!
Dragon-shifter Trystan, has been exiled from his dragon clan since WWII, so he is surprised when one of them ends up knocking on his door to ask for help.
This is a short (novella) story, set in the same world as the Rune Witch novella series, and features a few of the characters from those books. Fast paced, and filled with action, it sets the scene for some hopefully forthcoming future stories featuring the hero.
And enjoyable, quick read for urban fantasy and paranormal mystery fans.
Another fun entry in Deluis’ Welsh fantasy realm. Great to see the world expanding further, and I hope to read more about the society of dragons in future books.
Trystan is at home when he gets an unexpected guest. Trystan will have to figure out what she really wants. This is a look into Trystan, whom was first introduced in Rune Witch Series. You will learn more about this mysterious dragon. You will learn more of his past and much more. I am looking forward to more featuring this character.
I recommend reading this book, you will enjoy the story. You can read this even if you haven't read Rune Witch series. I recommend reading both,
I really loved this short novella! Although I received Exile for free as a subscriber to Victoria DeLuis's mailing list/newsletter, the standard of the story was just as high as her Rune Witch Mysteries books.
I loved getting to know Trystan a bit more; he's my kind of hero, gorgeous inside and out. Despite the reduced length, the world building transported me into this tale, the mystery kept me engaged and the pace of the reveals felt just right. We had met most of the characters before as part of the Rune Witch Mysteries but this story added a further layer; I feel I know them even better.
The only reason that I rated Exile 4 stars rather than 5 stars is my reluctance to give 5 stars to books of less than 90 pages long.
