Breeding Season #4

Bred by the King

Rate this book
Can love exist in a lawless world?
It all happened so fast ... the virus, the mass deaths, the collapse of civilization. The government insisted Ashley was unique, so she was branded, permanently marked as a fertile woman. She considered the so-called blessing to be a curse. Every man left alive on the planet wanted to use her as a breeding vessel. She wanted no part of becoming a baby-making machine.

Draven knows how to survive. After spending most of his adulthood in the Marines, the transition to the hostile new world felt almost seamless. He created a kingdom from the ashes, keeping up walls to protect the people he chose to allow inside. It isn't until Ashley shows up at his gates that he realizes what he's missing. He wants the curvy young virgin to give him an heir. What he doesn't count on is falling in love...

Sam Crescent is passionate about fiction. She loves a good erotic romance and so it only made sense for her to spread her wings and start writing. She began writing in 2009 and finally got that first acceptance in 2011 by Total-E-Bound.
She loved creating new characters and delving into the worlds that she creates. When she’s not panicking about a story or arguing with a character, she can be found in her kitchen creating all kinds of havoc. Like her stories the creations in the kitchen can be just as dubious but sometimes things turn out great.

This is the fourth book in the series and I didn’t enjoy this book as much as previous ones I found it hard to finish this book.

The world is in disarray after a virus and women who are fertile are marked and command a high price. Ashley is one such women, after she escaped from a group of men she meets Luanna who tells her of Draven’s Kingdom. Unbelieving of any place being safe all she can do is hope. However when they arrive she finds that she can have more than hope. What she finds is a place safe and protected and a man who will keep her safe but could Draven want her for more than to breed and love her for her?

Draven is determined to keep his settlement safe from the horrors occurring in this new world. Once he sees Ashley and her mark his world changes at first he wants her to breed and to keep safe. But when she looks at him he sees his future, can he convince Ashley that he wants her for more than to breed and show her the love he has?

It’s an ok read but I honestly can’t say that I would read this book again.

I enjoyed this one wayyy more then the last book.. atleast our man wasnt a asshole.. so score for us!! This was a fast pace quick read. I enjoy when sam teams up with Stacey their books together are good..

The world is a fuck up place a virus spread out infecting people and certain woman who can't have children.. and the ones who can are marked and hunted down due to being fertile.. Ashley thought her blessing with the tattoo is a curse now.. on the run from savage men, rapist she doesn't have time to rest. Helping out a woman in need she tells her about a place safe for woman and children with no other opinion she tagged along. Draven is a strong headed ex military man also very OTT who goal is to keep his kingdom safe from rapist and other drama.. they taken strays and other woman who were fertile and once he sets his eyes on Ashley he wants to protect her give her everything even when she pushes him away thinking he is only after one thing to breed her which he does but doesn't he wants her mind, body and soul.. and he'll prove it to her, things never come easy and he takes his time showing her he isn't like the other men.. he wants a life with her and when people try to steal his girl all hell breaks lose.

I'm sad it didn't give us a epilogue :( i wanted to know if the cure helped build a new world..

Low angst, no ow/om drama, no cheating, dramaish, sexy times, virgin gal and a celebite guy (1 year)

What the hell??

I love Sam crescent books, there quick and fast and easy to get into. But this was not it, one ☝🏾 the girl she met is a backstabbing b****. She literally threw her to the wolf first change got.

And don’t even get me started on Draven he’s practically doing what she don’t want to be done to her. But once she meets him, it’s a different story that’s just…. baloney.

I did not like this book and will not be picking it up again. Im just disappointed 😔.

I was hesitant to try this because I did not like Bred by the Alpha, but the blurb sounded more interesting, and had better reviews... and I'm totally scribd binging... It was better, because it had more of a plot, and action to keep it moving. It’s still a novella length, so there’s limited page time to really develop a ton, but looking at this solely in the SF-smut genre…it’s an ok/3star read.

Book is set in futuristic earth; there’s been a virus that has killed a lot of people, and made most of the females infertile. Everyone has been tested and the women that were deemed “fertile” have been branded, and are used for govt. payoffs, basically kidnapped and raped.

Before the book starts, she’s already escaped twice when she meets another woman on the road, and both decide to try to get to Draven’s Kingdom, which is a compound created as a safe haven by a former Marine. Draven is smitten right away but h is weary from all the attempted rapes from previous men. It takes a while for them to get together, but once intimate… it’s still pretty crude and smutty.

Bottom line- Not bad, but not awesome. Ok for a Scribd freebie. There’s no epilogue, but the last chapter FF’s 10 months with a HEA and hope for the future.

I think out of the 4 books in this series so far, this has been my favorite. The world is in chaos and fertile woman command high prices. Ashley wants nothing to do with this but being a fertile woman, she's wanted. Escaping from 4 men, she makes her way in the world and picks up a friend, Luanna. Together they make their way to a settlement where woman and children are protected. Arriving, Draven, the head of the settlement notices Ashley and instantly wants her, but she is very leary of men and refuses him. I loved how she didn't give in to him and how he took his time to try to win her over. The story is intriguing as to what would happen if society as we know it fell into destruction. The secondary characters in Luke and Luanna were great!! They helped the story and were instrumental in it. I'm hoping that we will see their story or stories on down the road. This was such a good book. I highly recommend it!

Despite good writing and storyline, I wasn't drawn into the story. I liked Draven. He was a force. He for sure is someone, I want at my back, if world changed like in the story.
And lucky for Ash, she has him. Not sure how she survived until Draven. Sure she's a fighter, but Ash still was too soft for after apocalypse world.

A deadly virus has been unleashed into the world killing the weak and the young. Fertile women are a rarity so therefore they are rounded up, marked with a tattoo, and expected to help repopulate the earth. Ashley is fertile and before she and the others are able to be transported someone kidnaps them. She escaped and has been running ever since trying to hide and evade the men who want to use her. When Ashley saves Luanna from being attacked she tells her about Draven’s kingdom, a place where they can live in safety. Draven is a former military man who has managed to create a safe haven within an old mansion estate. Trust doesn’t come easy for him and he’s very particular about who he lets within his walls. He has promised the women they will be safe with him and he will not be made a liar. Ashley and Luanna arrive at Draven’s seeking shelter and everyone is surprised to see an actual fertile woman after thinking they were all gone. Draven hasn’t had any interest in a woman since this whole thing started but that all changes when Ashley shows up at his gates.

Bred by the king is book four in the breeding season series. This story is short, mixed paced and an enjoyable read. I read this book in one sitting and was satisfied throughout. I found the first half of this story slow paced. As the story progressed the pace picked up. I found the writing style easy to follow, the characters likeable and the storyline interesting. When a virus spreads and fertile women become wanted, Ashley needs to find a safe place to hide. She soon finds safety in Dravens kingdom/arms.
I liked that Draven didn’t rush Ashley. He knew that he needed to earn her trust. I really liked Draven and Ashley as a couple. They were cute together.
I liked the addition of Luanna in this story and hope she gets her own story at some point.
The storyline for this book is easy to follow and it is an intriguing and entertaining read.

I didnt start with the first book in this series, I didnt like the sound of it or the ones that came after, so I started with this one. It seemed like something I could believe with the whole post-apocalyptic world.
I was expecting a predictable story with a controlling alpha male and strong, stubborn woman. I guess Draven is strong and controlling, but Ashley turned out to be a silly girl suffering from Stockholm and incredibly insecure.
Not much of this book was good. It's very easy to read through, but dont expect much, even the smut was meh.

Nope sorry I tried God did I try to finish the book. For me Sam is an instant buy but this book.....nope. It’s set in a dystopian world where people have been killed by a major virus and only “fertile” women hold any value. So much value that hoards of men hunt, kidnap, and try to rape them. So our heroine and her non fertile friend head off in search of a place they have heard is a haven for women and all others. Yup they get there and the ruler immediately had our h delivered to his quarters and when her friend questions his motives.... well he grabs her by the throat, presses her again a wall and tells her basically to butt out, like it or leave. That’s where I couldn’t go further. I’m so disappointed in this book.

An Interesting Fetishization of a Post-Apocalyptic World Scenario...

After being pleasantly surprised by the first book in this series. Then being very disappointed by the next two books. I wasn't holding out a lot of hope for this one. However "Bred by the King", the fourth installment in Sam Crescent and Stacey Espino's Breeding Season Series offers some literary redemption, with its darker, grittier, post-apocalyptic theme.

Here, we are presented with the story of Draven and Ashley. Draven being a former soldier, hardened by the collapse of society after a virus wipes out much of humanity. A man fighting to maintain a safe haven, leading a small group of survivors in a community he creates from nothing and fiercely protects. And Ashley, a woman captured and forcibly marked by the government because of her fertility. Something very rare as most infected are rendered infertile, leading her to now be viewed as a commodity rather than a human being. A woman running for her very life after escaping and finding her way to Draven's sanctuary with the help of an unexpected ally.

What follows is a somber, and at times startling story of societal destruction and moral decay. A suspense filled story world imbued with bleak and desolate emotional landscapes. Here the authors present a more thought provoking tale. A story that, despite its panty melting scenes, will give you pause and make you truly ponder. And as you ponder you will slowly realize the fact that the story told within this book isn't as farfetched as it may appear.

Is it a romanticized, fetishist rendition of an apocalypse tale? Well, this is within a series focused on breeding and hea's, so yes, yes it is. Is it also simplistic in some places, a bit far fetched and over the top in others? Again, as with the other installments in this series, yes. However, the thematic tilt of this one is far more multifaceted and complex than the others. With more care taken with the character development and laying out of the larger story world. Making this one definitely worth the read.

Bred By King, a novel written by @authorsamcrescent and @staceyespino comes out strong enough to buckle your knees and tumble off. Part of Breeding season, this time we have an obsessive marine who wishes to plant a baby into the woman he has his eyes on. But this ain't a normal girl. He'll have to work his ass off to get this one. Building his kingdom, he gets to play the role of King until Ashley falls into his lap and now, he wants her. No, he needs her. The game of want soon turns into unexpected love and our hero will make sure that she belongs to the King and is bred by him!

I love this book, there's the filthy dialogues and dirty talks. There's want and Lust like a big elephant floating around the couple. What I really loved is Ashley never gives into Draven easily. He maintains her distance and keeps her walls highly built. She makes him work for her, to show her that he ain't planning to just impregnate her but actually feels for her genuinely. I enjoyed this book.
It was short and fast paced. There was a intensity to lure us in, nice and smooth! 🌟🌟🌟🌟/5 Starred Read.

this one was definitely worse than the first book of this series. the beginning of this story was very abrupt and the world building lacked. like if you’re going to set it into a dystopian world at least try a little more. also, dude wtf you’re so contradictory and not better than the rest of his men and the mmc was definitely lying. the chemistry between the main characters was also lacking. additionally, he is not even a real king but rather a self announced one because he thinks he’s better than everyone else. with that being said the title is very deceiving as i was expecting a real king from royalty. there’s also mistakes within the book such as going from luanna hating him and planning to leave to her saying how great it is there like what? also wtf they are literally looking for food and end up fucking while they literally only have a week left before they can’t feed everyone anymore.. and he’s supposed to be the leader (because he’s better than everyone else remember!) like do better asshole.

My Favorite Genre is Apocalyptic Romance

This was a good book to help pass the time. I liked the back story of how the apocalypse took place and the fall out people experienced. I felt the best friend characters were not as well fleshed out as the mains and that is a shame it would have really brought together all elements of the story perfectly. At times these characters felt like after thoughts.
I thought the King was interesting. I appreciated his devotion to his kingdom and the woman he choose as his queen. Many aspects of the story felt like they have been influenced by the Handmaidens tale, so if you’re into that you will likely be very into this story. The h is a young fertile woman fleeing an uncertain fate. In these times, not many woman are fertile so she has faced repeated attacks and kidnappings(no rape) however, many other woman have not been as fortunate-including her best friend. That’s how they meet, she stops an attempted rape and her and the other woman take to the road in search of a kingdom she hears women and children can be safe in.
The story did have some suspenseful elements. I freely loved how suspenseful it could be.

Their world was a mess. Virus destroyed most of mankind but there were those few that were marked. So, we have fertile women marked and being hunted. Ashley just happens to be one. She didn’t want that mark but was given no choice. Now she needs to find a safe haven if there was one. Draven has seen war and has created a place for those that need protecting. There is no way a fertile female will ever land on his door step. When Ashley finds his kingdom, she hopes she is safe. At first I didn’t like Draven He seemed to follow a different set of rules then what he told his men. But as you read on, you start to understand why. Ok, it did seem wrong but when you have a rare item, you need to keep it safe. And the safest place was with Draven. Things never are relaxed when temptation is brought in. He allowed Ashley to set the pace. Their world had its issues. They fought them together. And I honestly didn’t trust her friend Luanna but as like Draven, she trying to keep Ashley safe.

God I hated this book!

It was so unbelievably creepy to me. The authors were definitely channeling the “Handmaiden’s Tale”. Mind games and manipulation. I hated that story too. Also, unless you are going to back up a post apocalyptic story based on a virus then you need to add more details on the science part of it. Like if they could round them all up to test and tag them then why wouldn’t they then harvest the eggs for mass implantation to get way faster results on repopulation? It just seemed like an obvious thing that should have been mentioned.

Either way, I will never read this story again as it creeped me out just like that other story did and just like the book referenced above I felt the manipulation more then any romance. It was creepy and icky in my opinion.

that star, that single star that I'm giving is for luanna, she's the only bitch i respect in this house.

where's my luanna book she deserves it

okay so.. the book as the same style as the others, obviously, but i was annoyed multiple times with the guy. and that's a lot because all the guys in this series are basically the same.
maybe it's on me, maybe it's my fault for having expectations and having hope i could enjoy it.

perhaps the only things i can say that i liked, it's that the plot–yes, it has a plot–was creative. like every scenario was unique and that takes imagination and creativity. even the ending surprised me because I didn't thought things where going to change.

anyway luanna supremacy.

A hidden haven

This book fits perfectly with the other books in the series. We might have found ourselves in a post viral world where only the strength of the leaders can keep the rest safe, but it does not diminish the passion and protectiveness of this strong alpha male. These ladies really couldn’t have picked a better person to be king. Between the leaders, the ladies, and the world they have created these two authors have proven once again that they are an unstoppable writing team. I am absolutely looking forward to the next book they send our way.

Boring

I did t really like this book. It was boring and just not for me. The world was a bit stale and the interactions were stiff and strange. The steam was a bit rushed and cut off 2/5. There was some dirty talk but it was super minor. Wouldn't read again and I'm not sure I would read this author again either.

Make the Best out of a Difficult Situation

A different dystopian future tale and a scary reminder of our present pandemic driven lifestyle. Two people driven by different motivations and viewpoints on life find one another in a world gone mad. Not a real deep plot but it does show how a crisis and war-like conditions bring out the best and worst in people.

Good tale!

Sam and Stacey wrote another great and unique story. It wasn't overly long, but they packed a lot of lunch into it. It was quite enjoyable, as most of these two writers are. I've to expect a good read, and story from them.
