Vlad is not looking forward to his vampire cousin, Lupus, coming to stay. Lupus can fly brilliantly, turn into a bat in the blink of an eye, and he has an annoying raven called Claw. He’s supposed to be teaching Vlad how to be a proper vampire, but all Vlad can think about is how to stop him from following him to human school! Soon, Lupus has all the humans charmed too, and Vlad is in despair. But the school play auditions show who really has talent, and who is the one with true friends. Vlad is in for a surprise…

This might be my favorite book of the series so far! Vlad's cousin comes to visit from Transylvania - at first Vlad doesn't like Lupus at all - he's the vampire that his parents wish he was, the kids at school all think Lupus is amazing, etc. - but the two young vampires soon learn that first impressions are not always what they seem, and end up becoming really good friends.
Just so much to like about this book and about the importance of peers in our lives. I really enjoyed the whole thing and I loved the way Vlad and Lupus became friends and helped each other. Also my 5 year old loved the book too. She's super into spooky things and this book is perfectly spooky but not scary.
