Another fun episode! 😊 All the quirkiness and funny business I want in a "cozy" mystery ... and, as an added bonus, there's puppies! 😝

When someone leaves puppies all over Pineapple Port Charlotte believes the puppies are linked to the death of a wealthy philanthropist. Could someone have killed him in order to sell his purebred puppies? If so, then why give them away? Charlotte is determined to get to the bottom of the mystery. Meanwhile, Mariska is reeling from the sudden death of her neighbor Alice. Frank finds Alice's death a bit suspicious as if she was poisoned. If this is the case, then Mariska is the chief suspect! It all comes of doing a good deed at Christmas. Mariska is convinced Alice's troubled granddaughter is at the root of the murder and is determined to ferret the information about of the girl one way or another.

The cozy parts of this book were well done. I like the quirky residents of Pineapple Port a lot. The fight in the pool at water aerobics was too funny as was Mariska, Darla and Charlotte breaking and entering. I absolutely adored the puppies. They're so cute! I just have some problems with the accuracy of the puppy rearing plot. If their mother died giving birth to them and Mina was responsible for taking care of them did she feed them? Puppies aren't born with teeth. How are they going to learn things puppies need to know like doing business and manners? Kimber didn't have another female or couldn't find one? Where is the male puppy daddy? His breeder probably would have helped out. They seem to have teeth and be weened already but did these puppies have their shots already? Are they wormed? All these questions tell you how much I cared about the plot.

There are two mysteries in one. The mystery about Kimber was tight and I didn't guess who until it was revealed and shown the killer's thoughts and actions. I was sad because I didn't want it to be that person. Alice's death was a little easier to figure out how she died but not exactly why. The conclusion is heart-warming and probably not all that realistic.

Charlotte has grown very sensible and intelligent since the first book. She's actually quite good at figuring out how to put clues together and picking up on small details Frank wouldn't find interesting or important. Mariska is a main character again. She's so funny even though she's worried about being arrested for murder. Mariska is also warm and generous and I can tell how much she enjoys nurturing young girls who need a mother figure. Darla is only given a small part here but she's a hoot. I can't believe one of her ex-husbands was a con and now she's married to a cop!

Frank has to defer to another sheriff in the matter of the dead philanthropist. This man is awful. He's sexist and disrespectful of Charlotte. UGH. She was way too tolerant of his behavior. The dead philanthropist, Kimber, was not a nice man. He was a horndog when he was younger and well. He didn't like to be around his own nieces and basically ignored them. He treated his own sister horribly in most people's minds. Then he developed Alzheimer's and complications that made him bedridden but still irascible. Mina, the housekeeper, like Mariska, has a lot of love to give but she seems a bit detached from the reality of her situation. She puts up with too much. Her twin nieces, Gemma and Payne are spoiled. Gemma is sweet and shy but completely naive. Payne is too worldly for her own good, spoiled and bratty. She does live up to her name. Mina lets them get away with too much. Lyndsey, Mina's ward, is like another niece to Mina. Lyndsey, however, is treated like a servant. She's a Fanny Price without Mrs. Norris to beat her into submission and without Edmund to help be her guiding light. Lyndsey's story is truly heartbreaking. Todd, the stable boy, is a disgusting pig, typical of teen boys.

In Pineapple Port the main characters are reeling over the death of a lovely lady. Alice was generous and kind to all she met, including her granddaughter. Crystal had a tough childhood and is a difficult teen. Her boyfriend is super bad news and a bad influence on her. Crystal would end up like her mother if not for her grandmother but she doesn't seem to appreciate that yet. Like Lyndsey, her story is also rather sad.

The puppies are all so incredibly adorable! I want to love them up but I don't want one with tiny little sharp teeth and accidents where they shouldn't be. I'll leave THAT to the breeder but I really really want to play with them and have puppy kisses. Charlotte's beloved Abby was quite put out at the fact her Mama brought home a PUPPY! How dare she! Abby doesn't have enough to do and I think it would have been good for her to have a puppy to keep her on her toes.

This series isn't my favorite and my Kindle Unlimited subscription is a limited trial so I will move on to other books and possibly return to this series later.

I love Pineapple Port!

Charlotte and the residents of pineapple port are some of my favorite to read about. There is no end to the hilarious antics they get up to. I did miss Declan and Charlotte having more scenes together but it was a cute puppy murder mystery!

The stollen and the pups

Awesome. A terrific read that has two mysteries running alongside each other. One is the death of an elderly resident after eating some stollen and the other is the death of a rich businessman. The first death is caused by a nut allergy. Who poisoned the woman? She had suffered for years from lupus and had always had someone in to help her bake. Knowing the helper, she knows she didn't do it but it could have been her granddaughter or her druggy boyfriend. Will they find out the truth? The other death seems like an accident, a fall that led to death. However an autopsy shows that the nan had been hit after the initial fall. Yorkie puppies, DNA paternity reports and a lot of money. Who killed him and why?

This story covers two mysteries … who killed elderly resident Alice? Was it or purpose? Or was it a tragic accident? Then there were all the Yorkshire puppies coming from - left on the doorsteps of several Pineapple Port puppies residents!! Is there a connection to the death of the wealthy philanthropist? It’s always fun to join Charlotte as she unravels the puzzles presented!

This time Charlotte has 2 murders to investigate! Mariska is a suspect in one so Charlotte is working double time to clear here. This is by far my favorite pineapple port book so far! Who doesn’t love Yorkie puppies?! There was plenty of drama, mystery, humor and action! This book was very well written and a few red herrings. I didn’t figure out The Who dun it until almost the end! That’s what I love about these books. Most author you figure it out right away and the rest of the book is boring! Not his author, this book or this series! I’m always looking forward to the next book to see what the ladies of pineapple port are up to. I highly recommend this book and this series!

Another good one

One sad but happy mystery and one bad but sad one. After stumbling onto a mystery when a Portian dies of what appears to be poison, Charlotte becomes aware of another as she finds clues to the first mystery. The first seems innocent enough. When yorkie pups are found on the front porch of a handful of residents, Charlotte temporarily holds onto them as she tries to find their owner. In doing so, she learns of another death that eventually leads to a murder case for Charlotte. When the owner of this pups is found dead and the housekeeper becomes the main suspect, she hires Charlotte to find the real killer.

Poor Little Girls and Purloined Puppies
This book is the 9th in a series that is best read in order, but each book is complete in itself. In this story, our core group is looking at 2 separate mysterious deaths and a stolen litter of Yorkie puppies. Besides cute puppy shenanigans, the story deals with a suspicious death in Pineapple Port plus the murder of a very wealthy man. The plot has some fun twists and turns that lead to some interesting clues. These are clean mysteries with no gore, bad language, or overt sexual activity. I have been binge-reading this series and have enjoyed every one!

I received this book as a gift from the author - I suggest signing up for her newsletter as its full of fun stuff, freebies and contests. Plus its really cute.

I've read this whole series, and its very enjoyable. This one did not disappoint - I do sort of wish her own terrier had had a bigger role cast, but oh well ;-) ( shes a Wheaten, and Ive been dealing with a Jack Russell (bad) experience, my own 11 year old girl ran amok last week but life is back to normal now, thus my thought process ;-) the story line keeps you involved, and the style of writing is exciting. I'm a fan!

I purchased a copy of the complex cozy mystery Pineapple Puppies: A Pineapple Port Mystery: Book Nine - A cozy dog mystery (Pineapple Port Mysteries 9)by Amy Vasant and this review was given freely. Smarmy self entitled male characters, jealousy, greed, mental illness and the cute antic of puppies are combined in this poignant novel of love and loss. Charlotte with a little clandestine help from Declan, Tilly,Darla and Mariska solve two death cases loosely interconnected by six Yorkie puppies found on the doorsteps of their community.
Complex, poignant and entertaining.

Someone is leaving adorable puppies in boxes at strangers' doors, who doesn't love a cute little puppy. Turns out most of the Seniors in Pineapple Port who are all giving the puppies to Charlotte to deal with and return to their owner. Well, when the puppies tie into a suspicious death there is no limit to the number of suspects. Charlotte is trying to figure out who took the puppies and maybe murdered their owner. There are multiple plot twists and turns and more than a few surprises but in the end the puppies are returned, and the murder is revealed. Great read.

Puppies, puppies and more puppies

Poor Izzy and Abby have to put up with puppies taking v attention away from them, poor babies! Love this series, with real characters in real situations. This was a mess of a murder, more like a murder gone wrong by a bunch of not-so-smart criminals. Very enjoyable and waiting very impatiently for next book... Maybe in Summer Snoops Unleashed??? The first "shops' collecting is where I found author for the first time

Pineapple puppies:a pineapple port mystery/any vansant

The author still dekivers. Loved the pineapple series of charkotte, declan, the boyfriend the clan in the pineapple port community ,whom adopted Charlotte after her grandmother passed whom was raising charkitte after her parents died. The story involved kidnapping of pupoies, a dead millionaire, a dead resident of pineapple port, add the chaos and you got an interesting story.

i guess I should have realised how "light this would be" from the cover. It was truly a silly little romp. Lots of drama and read a lot like the young adult books of the 1980s. Not badly written but definitely a holiday/pick up read. It was not gripping but it was a nice enough wander. I don't know that the author is for me but I didn't openly dislike it. It was actually a shame the puppies didn't play a bigger part.

This extended family is extremely extended!

I love the Pineapple books. Especially the young girl the whole association "adopted". She was too young to live in the retirement area, but when her only relative died, she was well taken care of. Now the girl is helping each of them as needed

Hormones and Murder

A complicated family dynamic, a litter of Yorkshire Terrier show dogs whose mother died bearing them, twins who rode horses in competition, and murder. Charlotte is a newly-minted P.I. who is trying to figure it all out. Good story. Very interesting with a dash of humor.

Pineapple Puppies: A Pineapple Port Mystery: Book Nine by Amy Vansant

Every time I read one of these I am convinced they cannot get any better. Yet they do, every time. These characters are like family. I relate to each one in a different way. And the mystery unravels itself a little more on each page. It only needs more Declan to be perfect.

Absolutely loved the book, as I do all of the Pineapple Port books. I have now read all of the books available in this series, enjoyed each and every one of them and hope I do not have to wait too long for Book Ten.
I highly recommend this series to any and all who like mysteries with a bit of comedy and romance as a side dish. You won't be disappointed,.

This is another great book in this series. It involves two separate suspicious deaths and a missing litter of pedigree puppies who turn up in a strange place. Charlotte is helping with both cases, which are in two different police precincts, even though she is only actually hired to investigate one.

Puppies Everywhere

Two mysteries for the price of one. Number One, where did the Yorkie puppies come from? Someone has delivered them to residents of Pineapple Port. Number Two, did one of Charlotte's extended family kill Alice? Charlotte is frantically searching for the truth. After all, old ladies don't kill their friends.

Always great and this time with puppies!

Mariska, Darla, Frank, Declan, and Charlotte among others have an amazing time dealing with crime, murder, and a little romance in the retirement community of Pineapple Port. Throw in sundry animals both domestic and Florida wildlife, and the series makes a pleasant read. Ready for number 10.

Confusing bloodlines

Charlotte stumbles into not one but two suspicious deaths and a mysterious case of puppies being left on doorsteps. What happens can only be something Pineapple Port could have experienced. Solving the cases means clearing one grandchild and tracing the paternity of another child. Keeps you guessing.

I love this series

This author quite frequently makes me laugh out loud. I’ve read several of her series and love them all, but Pineapple Port is probably my favorite. I did miss Declan’s ex-girlfriend in this one. Can’t wait to read the next Pineapple Port mystery.

Loved this series

Puppies, killer stollen, a hunky stable boy, this book has it all. Charlotte's latest adventure is as fun to read about as her previous foibles. Hope we haven't seen the last of her.

A Great Mystery

This book was all about the mystery for me, and it was a great one. The relationships between the murder victim and his household were grim and sad. I was morbidly fascinated with the story. Could not put it down.

Cute cozy!

Charlotte gets involved in two deaths where foul play is suspected. She is now a private investigator. Six puppies are left with six of Pineapple Ports residents and could be a clue to both deaths.
