“The Patriot Diaries” is a series of stories about a patchwork family with strong military ties. In the countryside near Nashville, Tennessee, this story is about life after service and reveals the challenges of the ones who support their heroes through it all. These are stories of second chances, rekindled loves, and adding to the family – one perfect stranger at a time. We continue the series with "Best Prayed Plans." Sergeant Valerie Ammert is selected to sing “Bring You Roses” in front of the troops with a country star. However, just before the performance, a mission Valerie is on ends in tragedy. Feelings of guilt overtake her, and songwriter Parker Grant ends up saving her from humiliation by getting up on stage and singing her part with her. Aside from his songwriting, Parker has worked diligently on The Patriot Brand and now has been volunteered to help with their church’s Christmas program. When Sergeant Valerie Ammert accepts the invitation to The Patriot, he finds himself thinking about a life outside of Nashville. But can Valerie get past her feelings of guilt enough to see the possibility of a relationship with Parker? And can Parker step away from his support role in his family? Meanwhile, Lydia Alan finds herself wanting to enjoy the company of Chief Justice Reginald Brooks, who is involved in the development of The Patriot Brand. But when the long-lost father of her children, Charles Alan, who abandoned them a lifetime ago, shows back up and reveals exactly why he left, her relationship with Reginald gets tricky. Is Lydia truly over the love she felt for Charles once upon a time? Can she trust Reginald not to abandon her in the same way? And is Reginald’s commitment to her and her patchwork family enough to carry them through Charles’ surprises?
