Like every hero, he wears scars. Mine are worn across my heart. The same one that pounds in my chest whenever I look in his eyes. Everything that happens fast is in a heartbeat, right? That's how long it took to think I'd die. That's how long it took for him to walk back into my life. The question Is a heartbeat long enough to fall in love? HEART-MELTING - UNCONDITIONAL LOVE - FIREY ROMANCE
DISCLOSURE - On a volunteer basis I reviewed a free pre-released copy via the author.
An unconditional love page-turner read with engaging credible characters, suspense, action, comical moments, and vivid scene descriptions that pull your heartstrings. There are a few heroic deeds, fiery passionate romance and a heart-melting HEA for the hero and heroine.
Prone to panic attacks Myra locked herself away in her home for years due to guilt and loss. Byron a courageous firefighter and friend from her past has kept his desires for her hidden. When Myra puts a call into 9-1-1 Byron comes to her aid. They face quite a few challenges before rising above the ashes to reach their happy forever after.
Engrossing memorable storyline that kept me invested in the characters until the conclusion. The romance is sweet and steamy. Byron and Myra are a perfect match; their chemistry shines with much devotion. Backstories give insight into each character's past. Unconditional true love finds a home in this story. I found this to be a most gratifying read.
Myra needs someone to melt the frozen state her body has become since the death of her husband, Ian. Bryon has guiltily stayed away from his best friends wife through all her years of torment while he dealt with his own confusing feelings- until a 911 call puts them back in each other's worlds than it is crystal clear he is the one who needs to add some heat to hers while she adds splashes of color to his.
Talk about a story that has it all! Heartache to heart mend, the perfect blend of reality and fiction, sexiness mixing it up with the sassy and everything in between! I hearted these upfront and center characters and how they handled the good, bad and uglies of life- another fan the flames of love and desire out of Pine Grove story that I did not want to put down!
Byron and Myra .... though flawed by life circumstances.... they overcome their obstacles in this fairytale like romance! Sweet, sexy and hot as hell passionate sex!
This book is a bit different from Eddie’s usual style. He continues to evolve his style and, for me, this book is so much better. He paints the picture with descriptive adjectives and you get a better feel of the emotions with the characters. Eddie also deals with a mental health subject matter with understanding and grace. The scene in the hospital, which is not related to the mental health issue, had me crying with laughter
I loved this so much!!! I'm so happy that Myra got her story. Byron was once a fixture in her life, until they both lost Ian. She withdrew form life and Byron couldn't bear to be near her. 10 years later a 911 call brings them back together, and Byron can't let her slip through his fingers again. At times this is heartbreaking, but it's also a tender, sweet story about acceptance, forgiving yourself and moving on from the demons of the past all wrapped up in one smoking hot (pun intended) love story! It's just so good!!!
I loved how real this story felt. How Myra completely withdrew from life after such a tragedy and how she pushed everyone away. That Byron let himself be pushed away because of his feelings for Myra feeling like it was a betrayal. I appreciate the highlight on anxiety and panic attacks as they are more common now than ever in society. And absolutely adored them coming together and fighting for their love.
Absolutely beautiful story! This book was a little different than what Eddie usually writes but I was not disappointed. More one story of bravery and survival despite crippling panic. I would recommend this book to anyone. There a also a few very hot sex scenes! I love where this series is going and once again I can't wait for Dan to get his own book *wink*
Eddie Cleveland never cease to amaze me with his bare and unfiltered descriptions of personal losses, human insecurities, adult love and second chances. And From The Ashes is no exception.
This is a sweet, heartfelt and intriguing story filled with heartwrenching moments and wonderful characters.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book.
Eddie Cleveland has the ability to let his readers experience the journey of his characters right along with them. In From the Ashes, you get heartache, drams, humor, fate, hope, love, plenty of steam, and then it all wraps up with a great HEA.
I volunteered to review an advance reader copy of this book.
I loved Byron and Myra’s story! I could not put it down and finished it in one sitting. Eddies books never disappoint. It’s funny, sad and sexy all rolled into one amazing book. Thanks for another great one Eddie!
Panic attacks and anxiety are really a thing people deal with some worse then others but it's all The same great book to read good story and a lot of love
From the ashes is the story of Byron and Myra. This is the second book in Eddie Cleveland's series about firefighters, this story takes up where Forged by Fire finishes. Both Bryon and Myra are well developed characters and their backstories are well designed and have been designed to mold the characters into what they are in the present. Loved the book and look forward to reading the next book in the series. This can be read as a standalone but it is best read in order.
From the Ashes was a Fantastic read. Eddie made his character Myra seem so realistic with mental incapacities that became hard to deal with after suffering a tragic loss. Byron, a big burly man knew he lived her for so long he did everything he could to be with her. In the end you had me in happy tears for the both of them. Thank you Eddie.
Quite simply, I thought that this was a beautiful romance. It is the second book in the Forged by Fire series but it is a standalone read. I will say that characters are introduced and reoccur through the series and some previous events are referenced in this book. So, keep that in mind. It's not necessary but book one is a very good read and I suggest you read it. This book's compelling story was realistic and relatable. It is a powerful and poignant tale of loss, heartbreak, anxiety and love. There is some drama in the book but honestly, in my opinion this book pretty much runs on pure emotion. Byron and Myra completely melted my heart. Byron is a big bear of a man with the heart of a teddy bear. He is a totally swoon worthy hero that is strong and brave enough to fight fires but is gentle and sweet enough to woo the wounded heroine. Myra's history will make your heart ache and the life she lives now will be an eye-opener for some. I loved the emotional journey these two went on and I am just so happy that I got to witness it. As someone that lives with anxiety, I have to say that I felt the author did a excellent job not only portraying this issue but resisted the all to often followed impulse to have the "love cures all" ending. While love is what we all yearn for it does not solve everything (even though we wish it could). When writing about mental illness this is crucial point that I feel has to be made even though it doesn't fuel the fantasy that most of us read for. The author succeeded in doing this while creating a romance that will touch your heart and steam up your kindle.
From the Ashes is the second book in the Forged by Fire series, but reads well as a stand alone. Byron responds to a 911 call and finds one of his oldest friends in a panic attack. Realizing that Myra means so much to him but hating how ten years have slipped by them, he hopes to kindle a relationship between them. But is Myra willing to let go of her past to find love again in her present and future?
There’s some truly beautiful and clever imagery in this book that I loved reading! I could completely visualize each scene, and I loved that some of the connections between Byron and Myra just leapt off the pages and I could just feel their chemistry! It was very well written! Byron seemed like such a guy, haha, not really understanding all of Myra’s pain or anxieties, but he was completely there for her, he was supportive, loving, and caring. And I loved Byron with his daughter, too! Myra had some extreme anxieties to work through, but I loved how much her heart wanted more out of life - especially life with Byron. They made a really sweet couple, helped each other, supported one another, and I loved the pride you could find in each of their hearts for their partner. Both made mistakes, but I loved that both wanted to work through them. This book is sweet, emotional, and steamy, but I loved every second I spent reading Byron and Myra’s romance!
Another wonderful, heartfelt story from Eddie Cleveland. "From the Ashes" is the story of Myra and Byron. This story is about some heart wrenching, real life traumas. Myra has serious panic attacks from a horrific accident that happened years ago but she relives each night when she sleeps. Most of the time she can't even leave her home, she has survivors guilt and thinks that she is unworthy of love. These traumas are real and are so well written in this story that you are feeling her anxiety, fears, tears and eventually joys as Myra deals with them.
Byron is a friend from the past. He's a firefighter who runs to her rescue when he recognizes her address from a radio call for help. Without giving the story away lets just say that he has cared about Myra for a very long time, stepped back while she was grieving but now wants to do everything in his power to help her walk back into living again. He's dealt with his share of traumas also so he understands what Myra is going thru.
Have a tissue or two close but also enjoy the joy of reading as these two wonderful characters find their way out "From the Ashes" and into each others lives. You will fall in love with other characters also.
i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the second book in Eddie's series about a small town called Pine Grove and it's fire department. In this book, Byron is a fireman and a single father. Byron is Luke's uncle, we met Luke in the first book. Byron hears a call to Myra's house and he rushes there. Byron was best friends with Myra and her husband before he died in an accident. Myra cut herself off from everyone and built a stone wall around her house. Byron knows he should have checked on her more, but he was unsure what to do for her. Byron has feelings for Myra and he wants to be with her, but she suffers from extreme anxiety and doesn't think she is able to have a relationship. Byron is willing to do whatever will make Myra comfortable and willing to wait for her. I really loved this story and thought Byron was a big teddy bear. I love how he cared for Myra and tried to make things easier for her. I think they were great together and had an amazing connection. Great one and i loved reading more about the town's people and the reappearance of some of the more unique characters. Can't wait for the next book.
Another easy book to read from this author. A township with a tight community and some awesome characters. An enjoyable storyline, which includes some laughter and cross your fingers and hope for the best moments.
Myra is an artist, who lives behind a brick wall. She lived through her worst nightmare ten years ago and has been in hiding ever since. Her whole life was torn from her in one moment, she feels guilty and is stuck in the terror. The town talk about the crazy lady who lives there, she knows what they say and it hurts. Byron was best friends with her deceased husband Ian, she pushed him away when Ian died.
Byron is a single father to an adult daughter. He has struggled since she’s moved out and doesn’t rely or need him as much. When he gets called to Myra’s address for an emergency he panics and makes the decision to rectify their broken friendship. When Myra pushed him away he let her, in fact he took the opportunity to run from his feelings. It’s time for full disclosure about her effect on him.
From the ashes brings forth new life or so it does when its a forrest fire. In the case of this newest Eddie Cleveland novel from the ashes emerge a broken soul looking to be healed and that soul is found in a suprising place.
Maya is a woman in mourning. A woman who is broken and grasping for air. She finds herself in need of aid and who comes to her rescue but her dead husband's best friend. Her former friend.
Byron arrives at Maya's compound when she calls for assistance. His heart is ready to burst when he sees her. First for leaving her behind all those years ago. The years when she needed a friend the most. But then it beats for the love he has held for her for over a decade.
If you want a sweet, honest and touching love story with a bit of sexy this is the novel for you. I have said it before and I am honored to say it this time. . .Eddie Cleveland has done it again! He has created a brilliant story, characters that you cant help but fall in love with and some sex appeal as well.

There are romance books where the cover is the best part of the download. This is not one of those books. The author writes strong, flawed, characters that heal each other beautifully.
Myra lost her husband in a car accident, changing her immeasurably. The depiction of her anxiety and PTSD rivals case studies I've seen in psychology books - the accuracy is haunting yet respectful. I appreciate that her mind is not magically healed by amazing sex - thank you for the reality amid the romance, Eddie.
There is amazing sex, with a smoldering (yeah, I went there) hot fireman that's been longing for her for years. It's a slow burn (mmm hmm) romance that respects what both adults have already been through.
An example of the writing, in dual POV:
"Something stirs inside me like my soul is a sleeping giant slowly stirring from a century of slumber. It stretches out, breaking free from where the grass grew over it. My heart flutters when my spirit blinks its eyes open and finally sees the world again."
Another well written story from the talented author Eddie Cleveland continuing about the people in fictional Pine Grove. The story pulls you in from the first chapter, two people who have had there lives turned upside down from different tragedies in there pasts take you down a heart wrenching emotional journey, when they realise they both have faults are they willing to overcome them to achieve a HEA. Myra and Byron had know each other for along time, while Myra hides herself away from her past with painting as her only company, Byron is unable to hide due to his job in the fire service. When ten years later there paths recross following Myra having a panic attack they both realise there is a chemistry sparkle between them but how can they break each other’s walls down without breaking themselves first.?? Reading the book will give you the answers you may cry but certain parts will make you laugh out loud. I was given this as an ARC in exchange for a voluntary honest review.
As usual an excellent book from Eddie. Myra is an anxiety sufferer. 10 years she has been suffering since the death of her husband in a car accident. As a driver she tried to help her husband but knew he was gone when she saw his face. Byron a firefighter lost his brother in building fire when he went back for a trapped child and neither came out. What we read is a very emotional story of how Myra tries to go about her life with the effects of grief, ptsd, nightmares and panic attacks. My heart broke for her as she feels she is broken. Byron is looking after his daughter after his wife walked out on them with her turning to drugs and not their child. He has a secret though but is he brave enough to tell Myra who seems to have her own secret. Will this be a HEA with a happy ending for them both or is Myra to broken for anyone? Fabulous story and characters.
They also don't breathe, or have much warmth. They do their job well. They protect. Sometimes too well. Myra has been barely living behind the walls she's built since her world crumbled ten years ago. Barely existing, unable to fully breathe from the pressuring anxiety that haunts her daily and nightly life. Her only escape is her artwork, but even there her mind searches for meaning and hope without understanding her past horror. Can she ever break free and welcome anyone in beyond the sturdy barriers? E. Cleveland writes with such insight into complex human conditions and gives truth to the torment many people experience, but adds sparks of tenderness and hope that make the unbearable lighter and softer so love can work it's way in and heal. Excellent story from an excellent author.
I really liked the fact that main characters were older that 35; really did. And they had real problems that we all can understand. And this is one of the reasons why I like Eddie’s books! Portrait of Myra and her fears was great; I was really able to understand her, specially her struggles with everyday life. Even some will consider her to be week, but I think she was brave and very strong to go to the next day. I liked Byron a lot; he finally made decision not to let Myra go and he was there for her. I liked the fact that Myra did not completely freaked out with Byron confession of love and that Byron was brave to admit it after all this years. Characters were developed; story was fluent and full of love and bit of drama. Nice romance read that made me warm and happy.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book
Great read! This book has it all-feels, steam, humor, and a love story. Myra has been living, if you could call it that, behind walls since her husband's death-using her pain to make art but not really entering into reality, anxiety has her hold up in her world. Byron gets some wake up calls that open his eyes to the fact that he's been just getting by in life-he's raise a daughter alone, avoided commitment-made his own niche in life but when faced with how real life can pop up in your face he starts looking at things differently. Both Myra and Bryon need to heal, need to feel support as they explore the new status of relationship. Beautiful story!
I am loving this firefighter series set in the town of Pine Grove. Myra is suffering from severe anxiety and has literally shut herself away from the world for the last ten years after suffering a tragic loss. When she call in a 911 emergency, she is met by Byron, a firefighter who she knew but lost touch with.
Their reunion was a mixed bag of emotions. They share a sexual chemistry and when they give in to their desires, boy do they know how to burn up the pages! There was a lot of emotional turmoil that they both had to work through and I think they definitely bring the best out in one another. Another fantastic read.
I cannot even find the words to fully describe this book! This is book two in this set so far and once again Eddie wrote an out of this world book! I could not put it down, it was so beautiful and emotional. He brought out a topic that many don't focus on a lot, but showed us that even have something such as anxiety that we are still lovable and there is someone out there that can love you as you are! I loved these characters, and we get a small glance of the previous characters while getting to meet new ones. When I reached the end of this book all I could do was just let out a sigh it was perfect!
I give this book from Eddie Cleveland 5 stars. I have not been disappointed in any of Eddie Cleveland's books. I was captivated from the first sentence to the last word, Byron rushes to Myra's side after hearing a distress call from the phone in the fire station and realizes it is her house. They discover they both are lonely and their friendship from before when Myra's husband was alive. Myra's husband was Byron's best friend and Myra developed panic attacks being out in the world so she shut herself in her and her late husband's home. When Byron gets there he realizes he has stronger than friendship feelings for Myra. Their story of falling in love brought tears to my eyes.
