I plowed through “White Horses,” poems by Linda Blaskey with an urgency that spoke of hunger. What next, what next…A hunger so satisfied I might have said, “Ah,” to myself as I turned out the light and turned over to sleep. I traveled a personal and universal journey in this book, a journey dusty and rueful at times, but brimming with life and the love of it. This is a book that invites the reader in and is bound to have many well-traveled pages where poems have been turned to and read aloud— when a feeling needs the kind of understanding or backtalk only a poem can give.

Stephen Scott Whitaker calls this “debut collection...sharp as fence wire.” Prepare to be held.
