The galaxy is in flames, forcing an unholy alliance between the PAC and the galaxy's most notorious crime boss.
Cabot's been thrust front and center of it all, like a ringleader.
Or a piñata. It depends on how things work out.
Recent events have awakened Cabot's sense of adventure. He's not hedonistic to the point of being suicidal like Nagali, but he's definitely done being a mild-mannered shopkeep.
Desperate times call for desperate measures, and Cabot's all-in to stop the Barony Coalition.
Take on a mission for the PAC? No problem. Take a position of authority on Ditnya Caine's ship, where her crew would prefer to see him dead? Bring it on.
Go undercover to figure out what the Zankarti people are harboring the Barony Coalition?
Sure. He'll do that, too.
The heat is on, all thrusters are go, and Cabot's ready for whatever comes at him next.
The next-to-last Mercenary Warfare book has action, adventure, laughs, and a good measure of Cabot's favorite Alturian brandy.

Zen DiPietro is a lifelong bookworm, writer, and dreamer. Perhaps most importantly, a Browncoat Trekkie Whovian. Also red-haired, left-handed, and uber geek. Absolutely terrible at conforming. A recovering gamer, but we won’t talk about that. Particular loves include badass heroines, British accents, and the smell of Band-Aids. You can sign up for her newsletter at www.zendipietro.com.
I loved this book! Cabot the shopkeep/international trader, Omar his sidekick/friend, and Nagali his totally insane ex-wife are off on another deadly adventure for PAC Intelligence. This time they have to ally with the queen of interspace crime to try to stop (or was that to start?) a war.
I’ve enjoyed every book Zen DePietro has written, and Calculated Risk is no exception. The plot moved along quite well, and I couldn’t put it down until I reached the end. I’m not looking forward to the arc concluding in the next book, but I can’t wait to get my eyes on it.
