A loyal servant to the Dark Horde, Cindy turned her back on it to help save the world, and all she got for her trouble was a brutal murder. But sometimes those that fall get a second chance and now Cindy is back with a thirst for blood. And once she's had her revenge, not a single hero in the Grimm Universe will be left alive.
This book is really for the long, long time Grimm universe fan. It’s got flashes of all the realms and main characters still alive (set after apocalypse events). But here’s the thing, Cinderella is sooo annoying. She non-stop yaps through the whole series. And while there’s a couple gems for lines; most of them are just meh. Those that compare her banter to Harley Quinn or Deadpool clearly need to go back and check in on those characters; where Deadpool is clever and Harley in crazy, Cinderella is just stupid. And thus this little jaunt around the Grimm universe comes off desperate and like a money grabber by Zenescope. It’s too bad as this could have been nostalgic fun for long time fans. Instead it felt like a tornado ripped through, and not the good kind that take you to Oz.
As much as I like Cinderella, this was just a lot of senseless violence with little story. Does the next arc actually pick up after this? Is this canon or one really long joke? I know Cinderella is a bad ass and all but this was just weird. Hopefully there will be some actual story to go along with the next one.
I have not read the prequel to this book but it was decently independent from outside information. If you go into this trade with the idea that Cindy is going to be obnoxious and ridiculous kind of like Deadpool or Harley Quinn then I think you will be decently pleased. Cindy's outfit is ridiculous and poorly designed. She could have looked better. That being said, the art was good and the story was extremely fast paced. If you want an easy read about a psychotic girl on a killing rampage then this trade is for you. I gave it 3 stars simply because I had a good time reading it. I laughed a few times and was amazed at the sheer brutality of it all. Got this from Comic Bento.
I got this from Comic Bento and yeeeeah. They could have picked a better series that fits the alt-fairy tale scene. I didn't hate this, but I'm certainly not going to recommend it to anyone or hold on to it. Cindy was unlikable, and I think it's due to poor writing. The concept is great, but the execution is terrible. It's a fast read, though, and not a gruesome as I was expecting, though I would still keep it firmly in the mature audience rating.
I just can't go on; it's just too awful for words. Even though I only have 40-ish pages left and it'd take little time, it's not worth it. The art is fine but the story and dialogue are atrocious. Why they made Cinderella into an 80's/90's Valley Girl of the worst kind, with lame and terrible puns and jokes, who only wears lingerie (in the vague Disney Cinderella style), I have no clue. It's just stupid all around. Plus, she's not even a serial killer, she's more like a contract killer. Oy.
Take the demented humor of Harley Quinn and add in some extra evil and you have Cinderella. This book is violent with really good art work and coloring. The plot is rushed with a typical ending and requires that the reader know some of the other character's in the Grimm universe from the Zenescope company....Oh' forget the plot, just enjoy the fun unhinged story and art work.
So, this psychotic Cinderella is raised from the dead by dark forces and goes around making lame jokes while easily killing all these other characters that didn't mean anything to me. Thanks a heap, Comic Bento.
Interesting bloodbath perpetrated by the psychotic Cinderella in order to gain favor from Voodoo, who has brought he back from the dead. He wants her to become the weapon of the new Order of Tarot. Highly recommended, but not for kids or squeamish adults.
There seems a whole universe of these vaguely porny Disney Fairytale princess stories out there now, and I really don't see the appeal. But hey, clearly a bunch of folks like them.
