Tired of her colleagues' lack of companionship at work and affected by a painful breakup, Lydia Chen, a therapist for people with special needs, leaves her position at Emory University and decides to move to the outskirts of Savannah, a small town in the southern United States.
Upon arrival in town, she is invited by the authorities to collaborate on the strange case of Stanley, a young autistic who returns home from his parents after being missing for a decade.
Lydia, with the help of detective David Wilson, must enter the mysterious world of Stanley, trying to decipher all the signs to reconstruct the history of the past ten years.
What were the reasons for Stanley's disappearance? What really happened during his absence? Do his parents have anything to do with everything that happened?
As the investigation progresses, Lydia will discover that history hides far more secrets than anyone could have imagined.
