Working for a cranky, old hermit in an isolated house sounds like Ruby’s idea of heaven but her boss isn't quite what she expects.

Tex is a fugitive from the rock and roll world – a tragedy abruptly halted his career. No one knows why, no one knows where he is.

The two of them try to live in the same house without ever seeing each other until Tex screws up, endangering their lives and forcing them to live in close quarters.

Suddenly, the idea of human contact seems more appealing, if only with each other.

The sanctuary they have built is enough for Ruby but the outside world encroaches. The man she's grown to love is Tex the hermit, not Tex the rock star.

Their fledgling love can’t shine brighter than the rock dream but can Ruby bear to let him go?

Candy J. Starr

Candy J. Starr used to be a band manager until she realised that the band she managed was so lacking in charisma that they actually sucked the charisma out of any room they played. “Screw you,” she said, leaving them to wallow in obscurity – totally forgetting that they owed her big bucks for video equipment hire.

Candy has filmed and interviewed some big names in the rock business, and a lot of small ones. She’s seen the dirty little secrets that go on in the back rooms of band venues. She’s seen the ugly side of rock and the very pretty one.

But, of course, everything she writes is fiction.

This book is so far from what I expected. Who'd have thought I'd download what I believed to be smutty rock star romance and end up with a story about actual humans instead?

There is no smut here. Zero. A couple of the scenes could easily have ventured into smut territory, but they stopped before that happened. Consider yourself warned if smut is what you're looking for.

I actually loved Ruby's voice. She was funny and relatable. She was something of a hermit, preferring alone time to such a degree that she hardly left the house and did everything online. And she was this way throughout the entire book, never conveniently changing personalities for the plot's sake. But there were times she had to be mature and step up even though it fell outside her comfort zone.

Tex was different than the type of rock star you usually read about these days. He was also a hermit due to tragic reasons rather than something intrinsic to his personality. He didn't sleep around and wasn't a huge jerk for no reason. Though he was rather needy and didn't seem to know how to clean up after himself, he was a pretty good character.

One thing that made this story different than others of this type was the lack of instalove. I really appreciated that. However, due to the relatively short length of this book, I wish the romance itself had moved a tad faster than it did. There were passages describing the type of cleaning Ruby did in Tex's house, or the time they went shopping, or Ruby programming apps, or other mundanities. I wanted a bit more heat here.

Bonus: There was no slut-shaming or evil woman trying to bag the hot rock star. There's one point where Ruby compares herself to another woman wearing a tight shirt and small skirt, but without actually looking down on her. This woman even has one of the band members sign her boobs and Ruby still doesn't make any snarky comments. Yay!

The ending:

I enjoyed this, but it isn't one I'll likely read again. However, I am interested in checking out more of Starr's work in the future.

EDIT: I just realized the rest of this series continues to follow Tex and Ruby and not the other band members. I really wish their story had been wrapped up in one book, but alas.

There are so many things I loved about this book, and a few things I didn't. Not that those things were ones I hated by any means. I just wish they'd been a little more developed. But I'm getting ahead of myself.

As you know from the summary, Ruby has gone to work for a reclusive hermit in an isolated house. She has no clue who he is, that he's actually a really great-looking ex-rockstar, and it does take her a little bit of time to find out. I loved Ruby from the beginning. She's reclusive herself, cleaning the house for the hermit who keeps himself upstairs and leaves her largely to her own devices downstairs. When she's not cleaning, she spends her time creating her own apps, and I loved this about her. She's motivated, but won't do any complicated type app, as that would cause her to have to work with other people. I never really felt like I got a good handle on why she doesn't really want to be around others any more than Tex does. This is one of those things I felt could have used a little bit more explanation. It didn't detract from me liking her, however. She was cute, composed, sweet, and when she needed to be, with Tex, she could give as good as she got.

The setting reminded me very much of an old gothic romance in a way... where you have a big neglected house, a mysterious man and an innocent girl who stays there. It was nice to have that old flavor popped into the middle of a contemporary New Adult story. It wasn't until something happens that causes the two of them to have to live in closer proximity that things begin to change.

Tex was intriguing character, but once again, I felt like I just didn't know enough. Don't get me wrong...at a point much later in the story, the reader is clued in to why he quit music and became very hermit-like, but during a majority of the story, I just didn't feel a big enough connection with him. And a huge chunk at the beginning of the story we are led to believe how much Tex hates the idea of people know who he is and his new anonymity being threatened, but Ruby finds out, he has no reaction at all. This seemed too contrary to what we knew of him until then. I kept expecting him to at least threaten to fire her now that she knew, etc... but he doesn't.

So a few things about the story didn't quite tie together for me, or weren't exactly logical, I guess you could say. However, I did still enjoy the story. I loved their interactions together and how slow the romance built. I also loved how each helped pull the other out into the light.

So, while there were a couple things that bothered me a bit... on the whole, it was an enjoyable read with good characters and an intriguing story.

I have read a few rock star type reads and found them gritty, well developed and a nice break from my usual heavy reads.

This book is different. But its a GOOD different.

Its the first book is a new series for Candy J Star. I have never had the chance to read one of her books before and I have thoroughly enjoyed it today.

Ruby becomes a housekeeper.....for.....Tex, the ex-rock star.

He is different from every other rock star I have met in these type of books as he is quiet, reserved and likes his own space.

Of course, we know what is going to happen, we know they are eventually going to 'get it on' but as they say, the fun is in the chase....and what a chase!

Its a 3 and 1/2 from me because although I loved it, its predictable. I know that is inevitable with most romances. This is very well written and free flowing.

Read on Kobo!

A former rockstar is hiding away in his luxury pad, becoming somewhat isolated from the world outside and his former bandmates. One girl takes on a job as a housekeeper in the luxury pad and soon finds herself having to deal with his fractured character. At times, this was a good read and the array of characters were interesting to learn and witness (the housekeeper Ruby being my favourite). I was hoping for a little more action, as the pacing did get slow at times. Unknown whether I will carry on with the series, but it was an OK read.

3.5 Reclusive Stars!!

Source: eARC for Honest Review Courtesy of Author and Xpresso Book Tours

Two recluses.  What could go wrong?  Both Ruby and Tex are just about to have their worlds rocked.

Ruby prefers the internet to people and if it weren't for her parents making her leave the nest she wouldn't have left home.  Since she's forced to get a job she gets hired as a housekeeper which is perfect because 1) she loves to clean and keep busy 2) the owner doesn't want to be bothered or seen and 3) she will have lots of time for her computer programming.

Since she assumes her new boss is a cankerous old man she's in for quite the surprise when she finds him cankerous yes but definitely not old nor ugly.  Tex has hidden from his life even though it was once adventurous and grand. He likes it better this way so he doesn't have to deal with his loss or all his emotions.  Thankfully he hired an old house keeper to help him out, but what a surprise it was when he finds out his new housekeeper is a snarky young pretty thing.

Both prefer to be alone but end up needing each other.  The most unlikely friendship but it seems to work for them when Ruby saves Tex.  Now living in a very small recording studio they are forced to get to know each other more and more and start to develop feelings and need for one another.

"I'm going to rock you, Ruby.  I'm going to rock you so you'll stay with me forever.  I'll play like I've never played before."

Ruby would prefer to stay hidden but she knows that Tex is meant for more, so she's willing to give this a go.  Whatever it is between them.  She encourages him to live again but what will it mean for her?  Even though it's a bit unhealthy both Ruby and Tex like living in their little sheltered bubble. Now torn with what to do she leaves the choice up to Tex to decide.

Recomendo

A freebie I downloaded onto my kindle...

This was not the story I was expecting, but that doesn't mean I disliked it...
it's a sweet contemporary with a little difference, it's not the instalove kind of plot I was expecting... the protagonist is very relatable and Tex, while being quite confident is not your average cocky rock star... there are no explicit scenes, only one I can think of that could have had the potential to be more but it didn't go that far

The only things I didn't like were
> it was pretty frustrating at times
> a little repetitive in places
> that cliffhanger!

Sweet romance with a quirky protagonist and an unexpected nice-guy rock star lead!

A very happy 3 stars. I grabbed this book recently as a freebie, looking for a rocker romance. This book had the rocker, the awkward girl, and some budding romance, but not the traditional rock star swagger. I think it might almost be better to consider this as a Beauty and the Beast retelling.
It was a good read! I'm going to check out the blurb for book 2...

This is a 2.5 rounded up to three for an immensely annoying book with some qualities that make it quite a bit better than a two but don't redeem it enough to be an actual three.
Firstly, the cover. I don't normally do cover critique unless it's absolutely necessary (see: Sheltered). The cover is the wrong packaging for what it is. It suggests smut when it is not remotely smut, it's a (not terribly entertaining) character study. Nothing happens bedroom wise other than one awkward, incongruous scene.
Secondly: nothing happens even when things happen. I have never come across an author who can make a house burning down so uninteresting.
Thirdly: nothing happens, at all, there is no story arc, let alone a tension arc. There is a house until it burns down. There is a secret until it is told. There is a rock star who doesn't rock anymore until he does. Inbetween life just pitter patters along in minute uninteresting detail.
Fourthly: There is no character development. There is a brooding, ailing, needy person and then there is an MC narrator who is obviously highly functioning autistic - which is never mentioned and that's one of the most redeeming features here, I genuinely loved that - and together they rub along into an unhealthy symbiotic relationship which our MC then destroys for the benefit of the brooding, ailing, needy person in the corner.
Fifthly: it's unoriginal, as if Espedair Street and Sweet Agony had a sexless book child with no teeth. The child takes more after Daddy than Mummy in writing style, should anyone wonder, but minus the sarcastic whit Banks had and more sloppy and repetitive.

The thing that makes it better than a two?
Ruby, the MC.
Starr really created someone there. Not somebody who is particular spectacular or even terribly interesting but REAL. And this is why it is such an annoying book. I wanted a better story for Ruby, a better book and someone with a little more substance than the brooding, ailing, needy rock star in the corner.
Actually, I just wanted a better book.

I struggled to rate this because i liked the overall story but the writing itself was very poor. There were a lot of errors and while i dont rate books because of their errors, this one had way too many to overlook. I didnt like the female character too much but i still continued with it. It wasnt the worst book ive read but felt annoyed when searching for the second part that it was £2.69. Im sorry but the books are quite short, the writing style isnt good and there are far too many errors o charge people this amount of money for the next few books

Unusual.

This is not like most books. This is inside the head of one person most of the time. Very strange to read. Also, you have to go onto the next book. Not sure I am willing to subject myself to more.

**i was given this book by the author in exchange for an honest review. This review can also be seen on my blog at http://goo.gl/qzI8ol...**

Life is what you make of it. It's a compilation of the things that have hurt you, the things that have built you up, of your fears and anxieties and the things that you believe you can't do without. What makes you happy, or sad, angry or afraid. Life is all of this and more, and sometimes even with all that it's not enough. Or maybe it's too much.

Cutting yourself off from all those experiences, from the people and the pain, but also from the happiness that could be yours, it breeds something inside of you that is inexplicable and inexplainable. Like a kernel of hope that you can heal and also silken strand of despair that you won't, or that you can't. To make yourself feel more in control you pull yourself back, away and into yourself.

But what happens when you pull away so far that suddenly your isolation has you insulated from the whole world and you're all alone?

For Ruby and Tex that's exactly the way they want things. Complete isolation from the world, isolation that most would consider unhealthy but for them is simply the balm they need to live. They have their own reasons, their own fears but for them, being isolated together is practically a dream come true. Yes they struggle briefly at first to find a way to comfortably be around one another, but it takes far less time than either of them expected to reach a level of dependancy on the other.

And then what happens when their joined isolation becomes less insular? How will these two people who have so fiercely defended their personal isolation adapt when the world throws them twists?

I really enjoyed the range of emotion that Candy J. Starr employed for these characters. The surprise of discovering that the other wasn't what they expected was just the start. And watching as the story unfolded and Ruby and Tex came to realize that they cared for the other was so heartening and nice to read. It was almost as if one day they turned a corner and the feeling was suddenly there, except that it wasn't really sudden and had actually been building from the start.

I am actually looking forward to reading the next part of this story and seeing what's going to happen next for Tex and Ruby, for Devon and Brownie, and even for Hannah. My only complaint about the book? It's a cliff hanger - and I loath not having the hole story. I despise the uncertainty and the constant wondering about what comes next. Which pretty much garuntee's I'm reading the next book, doesn't it?

I think you'll like it. It's not a particularly difficult read, nor particularly long. The characters are interesting to learn about and are honestly pretty unique to anything I've read on a whole. So go for it and you may just find yourself in a hot seat like me, waiting until you can get your hands on the second story like me.

mignon mykel : reviews

This title was written very much in an internal way -- a lot of internal dialogue. So much so, that after the first few pages, I had to go to the epilogue to see if it would change (not that epilogue reading is ever a hardship for me).

When I saw the end was extremely internal too?

I wasn't sure I was going to make it... But I kept trucking along.

What drew me to this book was, quite honestly, the cover. As I was setting up my blitz post and had an extra large version of that fine gentleman on my screen, I just knew I had to read the book (aw, c'mon, I've been single a long time a sometimes a nice looking guy just does it for you). So I checked my Thirty One commission bank account and then my fun money bank account and decided to one-click this bad boy.

So again, with all the internal schpeel going on? I was afraid that I should have saved my money for ROPES AND REVENGE.

No worries, though: I lost track of time and just like that, the book was over.

Slightly introverted, techy girl, Ruby answered a Craigslist ad to clean a house after her parents abandon her. At twenty - two, she doesn't have a whole lot of anything and her parents want her to grow up, more or less. The man who placed the ad was slightly elusive, didn't want to know anything about her, and demanded that they have no contact.

Worked for her.

After an accidental face-to-face, and then a drunken mistake of Tex's part, they end up sharing much closer quarters than a two story house.

I rather liked Ruby when she was being bossy, and I liked the playful side of Tex when it finally showed up. These two end up having a very easy relationship. It's no wonder that Ruby fears that everything will change once his old world starts falling into place.

As much as the tone bothered me (and all the 'we need's when they only just truly started getting along), the dialogue and sweet times are what kept me going. Typically if I get a 'heart clench' moment during a book, they're around vows of love. In this one, though, it was in simple coversations; it was in Tex telling Ruby he needed her, for her to come back. It was in the way she lay beside him as his heart broke.

That said, I will be sitting her (patiently?) waiting for the next installment!

Ruby is perfectly happy in the confinement of her own home, cleaning it spotless when she isn't designing apps. But when she turns 22, her parents tell her she's got to make it on her own ... outside.

Working as a housekeeper for a geriatric recluse who stipulated in his emails that they weren't to cross paths in his large house is a job made in heaven. Only he turns out to be the opposite of old. But Ruby can handle a young sexy guy as long as they occupy different floors.

When a destructive fire forces them to share the same space, they both have to seriously recalibrate their entire outlook on the perks of companionship. And when Tex is coerced to woo the world once again through his music, Ruby's solitude won't ever feel the same.

I loved the premise of this story. Give me a grumpy recluse, and I'll give up (almost) anything to read his story. This one is told from Ruby's point of view. We're in her head the entire time and Candy J. Starr does an excellent job keeping in line with her young Australian heroine. I totally got Ruby. She knows exactly what she wants. She's not timid or frightened. She hates the world, anything team related and avoids interactions if she can help it, but this is her choice not the result of some crazy phobia. I hope we get a better look into what shaped her in the second book.

However, I had issues relating to Tex. Although he's supposed to have grown up the hard way, fending for himself and his younger sister, he has no concept of money or basic life skills. How had he survived until he made it big? Had it not been for Ruby, he wouldn't have made it through a department store! Another issue I had with him was his total lack of empathy. Sure, he's going through some serious stuff, but even when he emerges, he's still all about mixed signals. He has unreasonable demands and expects people to just deal. And how could he be sleeping next to Ruby for weeks without ever acting on it (until he did, well, sort of)?

Great heroine, not so great hero, interesting premise, spot-on writing. I'm definitely reading the next part of this story.

☆☆☆☆5-ROCK YOU STARS☆☆☆☆☆
*Copy provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

ROCK YOU is one of those books that have you drowned yourself in the story until you get to the bottom of the book. It's a slow burn type of romance, but I loved it. It sort of reminded me of beauty and the beast, in a way.

Hiding from the world while fighting his demons was the his way of coping. Tex lost his younger sister Julia and it's been a few years, but still he has not moved on. Living in a mansion that looked like no human being would wish to live in. Dark and scary. Looking like no one even lives in his house. But it was his own and he was fine with it. The only problem is that he cannot clean up after himself. He needs a housekeeper and he needs one asap, since it was suggested.

Ruby was living with her parents, but when the rent was too much that she could no longer afford it, she had to find a job and live on her own. Since making apps for devices isn't enough to live off of, she needs to find a job. She finds one that was something she could do and still continue with making apps the apps when done with her day job.

 photo RockYou1-2_zpsozsr8joy.jpg

Tex hires Ruby to be his housekeeper and sets a schedule for her so that they would come across each other since he's so afraid that people might recognize him. Together they work things out. One chance of crossing paths might change how Tex has been living. Living like a hermit but ending for him soon enough. Ruby thought that by pushing him into something he's been trying to get away from might not be such a good idea after all.

Tex and Ruby's love story was a slow brewing type, but was one that I loved. Since ROCK YOU is book one of of the Fallen Star series, it ends with a cliffhanger. And I can't wait to get my hands on and find out what happened to both Ruby and Tex. I highly recommend you start with the series.

The story of Tex and Ruby.
Ruby has been pushed out of the warm loving embrace of her parents' home as they run off to live in Bali for a while. She's a bit of a recluse, holing up inside the house, writing programming for her own little apps - not apps that she markets and such - because she wants nothing to do with dealing with other people. She writes the apps for herself, and is happy if a few people happen to find them and buy them.
She finds an ad on Craigslist to be a housekeeper for what she assume is an old guy. She takes the job, happy that doesn't want to deal with her at all. This will leave her free time to work on her apps.
The house is terrifyingly scary - like the creepy place from Pyscho. She continues on inside, and finds the place a literal health hazard.
When she thinks a burglar has come in, she meets the 'old guy'. Turns out, he's not old, but a hot guy! A hot guy that used to be a big rock star. Still, he wants nothing to do with seeing her/talking to her, and she agrees. Only one night she smells smoke. Tex has been drinking and smoking and --oops, catches the house on fire. She saves him, and he is so forlorn, she can't help but stick around with him when he begs her.
The story that follows is both heartbreaking and maddening! Many times, I wanted to shake Tex!
The entire story is told from the first person perspective of Ruby, so I did miss getting to know Tex through his thoughts.
Tex can totally ignore people and shut down and get angry at the drop of a hat, but he is a true artist. Though I got really angry at him, I also fell for him. I understand how Ruby couldn't leave him despite some of his most maddening of ways and moods.
I enjoyed Ruby a ton. Her 'I can hole up in the house for the rest of my life and be happy' idea sounds like heaven to me (at times!).
I had absolutely NO idea that this story was the first part of -unsure how many - and wanted to scream when the story ended! How dare the author do this to me?! Make me pine away for Tex and give me such a wonderful story, only to leave me hanging!!!
Needless to say, I'll be anxiously awaiting the second book! HURRY!

DNF... I got about 80% through & even then I was struggling with this. The writing wasn't that great, the characters were annoying & the premise was just absurd.

So Ruby, apparently, was pretty much raised like a recluse with parents that sound like completely irresponsibly wakadoos. She's completely detached from the real world except for college. So she takes a job as a housekeeper for some crotchety old hermit living in this huge, estate that's falling apart. She has no contact with her employer, Tex O'Malley, except through emails, so when she gets to the house there are instructions left in the form of a note. The place is in shambles, messy & dirty. So she gets right down to cleaning the kitchen (mind you she uses bleach to disinfect dishes. WHAT?!) & the rest of her duties. She eventually runs into the crotchety old man, except he's not. He's a good looking, slightly disheveled younger guy. His only request is that she stay out of his way. Through her boredom, she wanders around the property & comes to a bungalow type of building where she discovers Tex was some kind of rockstar.

Fast forward, she wakes up one night to the house full of smoke. She runs around looking for Tex & trying to find out where the smoke is coming from. Turns out the jackass passed out drunk on his bed with a cigarette in his hand. They barely manage to escape & the house almost completely burns to the ground. He refuses to leave the property after inspectors & fire department finish with the property. So they decide to stay in the bungalow, that's a recording studio.

Ugh... I just couldn't stand the weird & emo behavior from Tex. He's suppose to be in his 30's but acts like some kind of creepy teenager. The angst & mood swings were annoying. And I just don't understand why, after only a short time, does he want to keep Ruby employed & with him when there's no house left. The 2 main characters were just very disconnected & odd. There was no chemistry between them & they both seemed kind of infantile.

Bored & annoyed me.

I LOVED Ruby's personality. Right off the bat, her sarcasm and outlook on life drew me in. I feel like she's my kindred spirit.

When Ruby shows up to a housekeeping job she accepted over the internet she gets a lot more than she bargained for. After her first night, she has a run in with her new boss and finds out that he's nothing like she imagined. Being a person that is so NOT a people person (I can relate so much with her), she's willing to put up with the super cranky and rude guy just so she can live in the solitude she so much desires. She's found her dream job and doesn't want to do anything to jeopardize it. He's demanded that she steer clear of him and that's easy enough. Until they have to make due with living in close quarters.

What started out as a housekeeper/boss relationship begins to flourish (slowly) into a friendship. They still keep to themselves but you start to see that they really get each other. As they learn more about each other, they learn that they are very much alike. And to discover her boss is a former superstar turned recluse, she struggles with his desire to remain secluded in their own little world and knowing get that being back on stage is something deep down he really wants. But she shows her strength and unselfishness by helping him battle his demons so he can move forward with his life...in the hopes that there is room for her in it.

It was so great to see Ruby's character experience her meeting with Tex and evolve around what life with him is becoming. Her sarcasm really stood out for me. She was funny and enjoyable to get to know. I loved how she created her home scenarios to explain some of the unknown at the beginning of her situation. It was so much like something I would think.

A great story and I look forward to finding out how things turn out for Ruby and Tex.

"Rock You" follows the story of Ruby, a 22 years old girl who has to left her parents' house since they decided to move to Bali and rented the house in a price Ruby can't afford. Through Craiglist, Ruby found a job as a housekeeper in a big house at a secluded area. At first Ruby thought that her employer was a hermit-like old man, until she met Tex O'Malley, the hot and reclusive ex-rock star.

I like this novel, but I think it could be better. First of all, I like Ruby. She was described as an anti-social, though I'd call her reclusive/hikikomori-ish, with a great sense of humor. My problem with her is that her characterizations weren't consistent enough. It's true that at the beginning she showed that withdrawn personality, but later it suddenly disappeared without enough effort/uncomfortable situations she had to go though in the story. And no, I don't count what happened in the recording studio as uncomfortable enough for the change.

"You need to leave the nest," Mum had said. "You need to go out into the real world."

I also like Tex. He was the sensitive rock star type, the type of male lead that I haven't seen enough of (in my admittedly little repertoire of) contemporary romance. I couldn't help but kept on thinking of Hugh Grant during the whole story. I don't know why. Was it due to the rom-com nature of the novel?

"The other thing is that you aren't alive, Tex. Not really. You can't just stay shut up from the world. [...]"

The story is also surprisingly clean. There were only kisses and one time when they almost did it. So, if you're looking for a hot steamy novel, maybe not this one.

Overall, I enjoy the story. It was funny and compelling. I plan to read the continuation of Ruby and Tex.

After reading the synopsis, I had high hopes for this book but it was a let down. I stopped at 40% because Ruby just rambled on and she was so weird. I understand that Tex was hiding from the music world but they barely had interaction and I was skimming just to find it. I wanted more from this book and was disappointed.

What happens when a hermit and a loner ends up living together and stop being polite?
Well anything can happen. Friendship. Music. Love.

When Tex hired a housekeeper, he expected a middle aged woman to show up, but what he got was a beautiful, simple young woman named Ruby. She’s feisty, speaks what's on her mind and she has a beautiful heart. When Ruby was hired as a housekeeper, she expected to be working for an old guy, but what she got was a young handsome man hiding under his hood. He was a grump, a hermit who didn’t want anyone in his way. Tex was rude and grumpy to Ruby, but she chose to put up with him because she needed the job. But anytime Tex’s strong personality was too much, Ruby stood up for herself and always put Tex in his place. Everything was fine with them for a little while, staying out of each other’s way was easy..Until their feelings got in the way.

When Tex Rockstar past became the future again and on his way to stardom, Ruby started to question who she really is to him. Ruby thinks herself as an ordinary girl, she didn’t see herself in his rock star life. Will Tex find a balance of being a rock star and being the guy that Ruby had fallen for? Read and find out.

This is book 1 of the Falling Star Series and what a start it is. I am definitely hooked and cannot wait to get my hands on book 2. Love it so much. #MustRead <3

Ruby is a loner who lives at home and is more comfortable online than in real life and Tex is a recluse rock star who has demons chasing him. They get together when Ruby agrees to become his housekeeper. The funny thing is that Ruby thinks she’s working for an old, eccentric recluse but when a house fire forces them together, she realizes just how wrong she is.
GAHHHHH!! I need to know what happens next! I would’ve preferred the book end in a different fashion that didn’t make me want to throw things but that’s how it goes sometimes. Okay, so that might be a bit dramatic but it’s pretty close. This is my first Candy J. Starr book and I’m intrigued to read more because these characters were definitely not your run of the mill rock star and girl he falls in love with.
Beware: There was more angst in this book than a couple YA novels put together.

This book is a very interesting turn for a Rock Star Romance. Ruby is a loner who lives at home and is more comfortable online than in real life and Tex is a recluse rock star whose ghosts from the past still haunt him. With the major events that happen in this book Ruby and Tex seem to be a perfect match as employer and employee and as friends. But could it move forward? Are they ready for that? You will have to read and find out what happens. I truly enjoyed this angsty, slightly dark, emotional, quick read, even tho there is a cliffhanger. I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

Great read

Really liked this series. The first book you get to know the characters. I do like Tex a lot. Ruby is a handful especially in book 3. I got a little tired of her whoa is me attitude. But that is in the 3rd book. They are a pair of dysfunctional people. But they help each other with getting through some of the hurdles. Slow build up with steamy parts.
Interesting back storyline with Tex's sister and the background characters.
I have read all 3 stories about Ruby and Tex and am on the 4th book about Devon.
Recommend all the books.

Well damn, if that wasn't as delicious as, umm, melt in the middle chocolate pudding, pizza, anything with Ben & Jerry's written on the carton...

Delicious enough to have me reading at 3 AM, with work tomorrow and finishing the whole thing in one sitting. I love misfits and I love that rockstar shit. The only thing I didn't love was the ending.

Right, where's my credit card? Time for the next one!

When you want to read something that ain't to long. And then the author doesn't give you an ending. But hey! But the next book an maybe. Maybe we can figure something out. That really annoys me to no end. But I did like the book. It grabbed my attention. And I love the Mr Rochester thingy going on. But I would have loved it more to get a little but of an ending without having to buy the next book. It makes me thing the author isn't about the process. More about the money...

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I'd give Rock You 4 stars. To start off if you don't like cliffhangers you probably shouldn't download this book! Butt if you like new adult rocker romance then go right ahead!

I have to say Ruby is awesome! She reminded me of a realistic 21st century young adult… hermit and addicted to technology hahha… I related to her the most because real life people ewww.
