"Sometimes, the assholes turn out to be braver than you thought," Harry said. He looked at Draco a little too steadily. "And sometimes, maybe, they were never cowards to begin with."

That final day when Harry finally won and killed Voldemort, should've marked the final victory of the Order against the Death Eaters, instead it sparked a new beginning and a new threat.
Yaxley took over Voldemort's reign and with no Horcruxes under his name, he seems to be a more efficient rival.
In a desperate attempt to save the last remaining Order members, they're forced to trust the man who started this war that has no ending. Draco Malfoy makes them an offer they can not refuse and all he wants in exchange is for Hermione to become his.

Hermione agrees to move into Malfoy Manor and pretend to be Draco's love interest if that means that the others be safe. She will spy on the Death Eaters and report back anything she can, so that they can end this war once and for all but she has a hard time realizing how little she meant to the Weasleys.
She knows that Molly would've done everything to protect her children. She knows that Harry is the chosen one and the only hope for the people of Britain. She also knows that she is the one that has to do this but she can't help but feel the desperation of loneliness.
Her only communication with the Order is by Molly and that only consist of an acknowledgment of having received the notes that Hermione send them and a simple "Good Job". There is no word of Ron and no word of Harry. No indication that anybody misses her or even thinks of her. Nothing.

Even though Draco informed Hermione that his feelings for her were none existent and that this relationship is a farce to bring down Yaxley, every day the pair grows closer.
Draco pretends to be madly in love with Hermione and she in turn has to pretend to have changed sides to be with him. They both have to play the role of a love struck person that would do anything to be closer to the other, even if that means to betray your family and friends.
As time goes on and Hermione and Draco are forced to spend all of their time kissing in places where they're easily spotted, their feelings for eachother start to change and when Hermione finds out that Ron has moved on and is expecting a baby with Gabrielle Delacure, it's the final push to bring her and Draco together.

Just after their honeymoon, Hermione sets her plan in motion to bring down Yaxley. With the help of Draco, Narcissa and an ingenious Percy Weasley, she will end this war once and for all.

I love ruthless Hermione. It was good and I enjoyed it, but there were some things that didn't make sense or work 100% for me.

Great description and more realistic portrayal of flawed characters. Absolutely loved it
