When surf instructor Carly Bridger falls for Gage Craven, she discovers the love she’s always longed for. But will the painful parts of her past threaten to tear it away?
Gage Craven has finally gained his famous father’s approval by agreeing to star in a Hollywood film. And while he’s basking in the feels of being his old man’s pride and joy, Gage can’t help but worry over the many ways he could lose it. Topping Dad’s must-do list are two very simple words: Stay Single. After all, what other father and son team could claim to have taken the title of Hollywood’s Most Eligible Bachelor? But when Carly Bridger surfs in and takes Gage’s life by storm, he stands to lose the relationship he worked so hard to earn. No doubt Carly’s worth the risk, but will Gage’s Hollywood ties scare her away?
Second-grade teacher Carly Bridger is on the verge of breaking free from her past—namely, a cowboy poet named Jimmy who loves his broken heart more than her. Carly can only hope her summer job teaching surf at the Royal Palm will move her one step closer to the life she longs for. That hope comes to life when Hollywood hunk, Gage Craven, shows Carly she is able to feel something for another man after all. Yet just as hope for a future with Gage begins to flourish, the past she’s trying to forget comes back to haunt her.
Will these crashing tides destroy their budding relationship, or will their new love be strong enough to survive the storm?
USA Today Bestselling author Kimberly Krey is known as the Queen of Steamy Clean Romance. She's a fervent lover of God, family, and cheese platters, as well as the ultimate hater of laundry. Her readers count on faith-filled romance novels that stay clean without losing the steam.
The Royal Palm resort is the perfect setting for this swoony romance and I'm ready to book my vacation now! Carly is a teacher during the school year, and a surf instructor at the resort during the summers. Gage is an up-and-coming actor who needs to learn to surf for his new movie and the insta-sparks fly from the first time their eyes meet. Oh, my swoon (insert all the heart eyes).
Carly has a painful secret from her past and I love how Gage brings a breath of fresh air to her life and helps her see what can be and what she needs to do to move on. She is so sweet and deserves more. Gage is charming, persistent, and absolutely adorable! He almost seems to good to be true, but he's got something to overcome too. I love when a story reveals relatable characters and their human characteristics, while still delivering a story worth reading.
In a perfect setting, filled with sun, surf, and swoon, the mistress of steamy clean romance strikes again, offering a powerful tale with a heartbreaking issue and presenting a flicker of hope that is fanned by the flames of forgiveness, maturity, and rock-solid characters. Grab a fan and a tropical drink, and sit back and enjoy.
Content: mild romance (a past mistake, swoony kissing)

I wish I could take a magical trip to the Royal Palms resort! It sounds heavenly. Because the beach!! 😍 This story was so sweet with two characters that I couldn't help but root for. For Carly it was all about letting go of one thing in order to hold on to another. It was a tender journey. I loved the descriptions of feeling the warmth of the sun and the sand of the beach which I am currently longing for. Oh, and I loved the kissing too.
What can I say about these characters? Ah! Carly is such a tender soul. She's battling difficulties over a great loss in her past and struggling to help her ex-boyfriend do the same. She hopes the two might have a future, but the greater part of her knows it's not meant to be. In walks the one and only Gage Craven. He needs surfing lessons for his upcoming lead in a Hollywood movie, and Carly's just the woman for the job, whether she likes it or not. And Gage! He's always longed for his famous father's affections, and accepting the movie role gained him that very thing, but at what cost? Can he keep Carly as well as his father's love, or will he have to let go of one to hang onto the other? I love the undeniable chemistry between these two characters! And even more, I love the courage, strength, and resiliency they show in their journey. I hope you enjoy it as well!
This book is very similar in writing style to the type of books that Cami Checketts writes. So fans of hers will definitely enjoy this one! Sweet, clean romance with no swearing, no sex. Kimberly Krey has a smooth, fast-paced, down-to-Earth writing style so it’s always a perfect way to escape reality for a few hours.
This story was definitely fun to read. The heroine is a wave-riding elementary school teacher! Wow! What a combination! She is one cool chick. Gage is a movie star trying to become an expert surfer 🏄 for a movie role and he insists on Carly being his teacher. He’s prepared to pay the big bucks to make it happen too. Carly doesn’t like teaching adults. She teaches kids, like her other profession. However, her boss doesn’t give her a choice and she has to teach Gage, whom she’s had a crush on since... forever!
-‘Carly grinned. Gage was different than she’d imagined. Friendlier, easier to talk to. And he smelled good too... Don’t get sucked in by him, Carly.’-
Things start to warm up between Carly and Gage and soon Carly is considering opening her heart up again after a painful breakup. Complications arise when her previous relationship shows up and she must decide between her past - and her future...
Romance, clean; series but stand-alone read This was more of a 3.5 for me as a reader, but a cute ending that wrapped things up so well so rounded up. I loved the back and forth at the end of the novel, how he presented himself and got her to see his true heart. Misunderstandings, misleading information, but hearts that saw past the hurts and miscommunications, and fears made for a cute read. The beach/surfing setting with the fun Hollywood backstory of the H made for a fun overall read. Family, complications from fame, plus great overall chemistry, and genuine real heart made for a good read for me.
I love all of Kimberly's books, but this is definitely a favorite. I loved how she handled Carly's loss and Gage's reaction to it. Even though he had a really privileged life, he was very down to earth with great character traits. He wasn't afraid to be vulnerable, and he helped Carly take down her walls and start to live and love again. Wonderful book, highly recommend.
This book was delightful, and left me longing for warm summer days on the beach. Carly made me want to try surfing, and Gage was a perfect swoon-worthy hero! I liked the way the characters bantered and went from lighthearted getting-to-know-you questions to serious and more meaningful conversations. A fun and clean romance for sure!
Royal Palm Resort was a beautiful backdrop for the surfing and romance in the budding romance in this book. Both Gage and Carly struggle through issues but are able to work through them with Gods help. Great family love abounds.
This book was touching, not only in the romance, but also in tender memories. Carly loves to teach children, both in the classroom and on surfboards. Gage is studying to be an architect, but is going to star in one movie to please his father. Both of these characters are extremely likable, but not perfect. I was definitely wanting them to make it as a couple. There were a few bumps in the road along the way to a fabulous HEA. The book addresses a serious health issue and does so very well. I would recommend this book to readers of clean/wholesome romance and to Christian fiction readers. I got my copy of this well-written book through KU.
I like the issues addressed in this book. Past pain can paralyze a person from moving forward. It isn't easy to face the past, but it is necessary if we want to be free of fear.
I had a free copy of this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. I enjoyed reading this book. The characters were believable and their problems real. Kimberly Krey did a great job with the plot. I also enjoyed the setting for this book.
