Décima entrega de la saga del ex-policía Ferran Mascarell, ambientada en la Barcelona de posguerra. Aquí el inspector tendrá que resolver unos casos de su amigo el detective David Fortuny, que ha sufrido un accidente.
Como el resto de episodios, está bien escrita, con diálogos ágiles y una excelente ambientación. La intriga en sí me ha resultado bastante previsible, pero he disfrutado con el desfile de personajes, todos muy bien caracterizados.

Com a fanàtic de l’Inspector Mascarell, trobo que aquesta és la novel·la més plana. Casos senzills i un final que, per a mi, no és creïble. Això sí, el costumbrisme que tan bé dibuixa Jordi Sierra et transporta completament a la Barcelona de la postguerra. Sembla que t’hi trobis!

This is the tenth novel in Jordi Sierra i Fabra’s Inspector Mascarell series. It is set in September and October 1951, three months after the previous novel, Diez dias de junio.
I won’t say too much about the plot. Well, I will. David Fortuny, the private detective we met in Diez dias de junio, turns up at Miquel Mascarell’s door asking for help with three cases that he has taken on. These are a jealous husband who wants his wife kept under surveillance; a father who wants to find out what his son gets up to when he slips out of the house; and grandparents who want to know what became of the child their unmarried daughter gave birth to eight years earlier. Mascarell immediately refuses to get involved because he wants a quiet life with Patro and their daughter Raquel. The following day, Fortuny’s girlfriend, Amalia, turns up at their door in tears. Fortuny has been hit by a car and is now in hospital in a coma. The driver has disappeared leaving a couple of empty spirit bottles in the car. Thus the police believe it was a drink drive accident but Amalia is convinced it was a deliberate attempt to murder Fortuny. She implores Miquel to investigate and, of course, he has no choice…….
Miquel begins investigating all three cases at once in his inimitable way. Fortuny remains in a coma for several days but Miquel discovers that he was close to solving the case of the missing grandchild, which turns out to be the most awful of the three cases, when he was hit by the car. When Fortuny recovers consciousness he tells Miquel about his camera, which he fears has been stolen. Miquel recovers the camera from Fortuny’s notorious motorbike and sidecar. He also finds the receipt for a film that Fortuny was having developed. These show the missing grandchild – now eight years old – playing in a park which Miquel recognises…..
Talking of photos, there is a subplot. Mascarell tells Patro about an album of family photos that disappeared when he was arrested in February 1939. He is finding it more and more difficult to remember what his first wife, Quimeta, and their son, Roger, looked like, so he resolves to track down the album. When he goes back (for the second time) to the flat he shared with Quimeta, the new occupants slam the door in his face. The owner of the block then admits that he sold off all Mascarell’s worldly goods to a house clearance firm…..Mascarell is on the trail…..
Once again we have a brilliant evocation of life in Spain under the Franco dictatorship wrapped up in a gripping detective story. Highly recommended by itself, but it would worth your while to read the previous novels in the series before tackling this one.

Doce años después de la guerra, siguen muchas heridas abiertas en un mundo muy duro para los vencidos, las mujeres y los marginados. En un nuevo caso (ahora como detective) el ex inspector Mascarell nos meterá en investigaciones muy dispares en las que el régimen totalitario es intransigente. Durante estos diez libros he ido conociendo a los protagonistas y cogiéndoles cariño, en este último el calor humano de Mascarell , su gran sentido de la justicia y su bondad lo hacen todavía más cercano y entrañable. Como siempre ambientado en Barcelona y con un rigor documental de la España de aquellos años. Este es el último libro escrito, por ahora, de la saga y la dejo con pena porque la he disfrutado mucho

Nuevos casos de el inspector mascarell de los tres que he leído quizás sea el que más me ha gustado ... Muy ágil de leer ya que al ser diferente ya que se trata de tres casos en uno hay que ir haciendo eculubraciónes acerca de ellos como digo , Jordi Sierra i Fabra ya se va a mantener entre mis autores ya que sus novelas son fáciles de leer ,agiles , adictivas .. en resumen quien conozca la saga ya sabe de qué hablo y quien no y pueda que empiece desde el 1@ porque eso sí al no ir en orden hay cosas que se escapan .. pero se sigue bien ..4/5

Los fans del inspector Mascarell sabemos bien cuales son sus virtudes y cuales sus defectos. Por lo tanto, no hace falta extenderse a nombrarlos por décima vez. En general, esta entrega es una novela entretenida con la novedad de que en lugar de un caso, tenemos tres. De ellos, dos son muy muy previsibles mientras el tercero si me ha sorprendido moderadamente. Habitualmente, encuentro las novelas de Mascarell bastante verosímiles, excepto por el hecho de que en 4 años el pobre hombre se haya metido ya en 10 líos, pero en esta entrega hay algunos discursos de Miquel y Patro, que me han parecido demasiado modernos para la época. En resumen, una buena entrega aunque lejos de las mejores para mi gusto.

Después de la gran novena entrega, nos encontramos con la que seguramente es la más floja. Como ya se preveía en la anterior, la aparición del investigador David Fortuny es una salida para Mascarell y no tener que seguir ligando los casos a su pasado.
En este libro le toca investigar tres casos que David Fortuny no puede al haber sido aparentemente atropellado. Los casos son bastante más flojos que en anteriores entregas, de resolución fácil y previsible y la vida personal de Mascarell gana peso para ligar algunos puntos no conocidos de su pasado, así como resaltar su estrenada paternidad a sus 66 años.
Lo más logrado del libro es el final, pero no quita que el resto del libro flojee en referencia a todo lo leído anteriormente.

Primer libro terminado del año 2023, aunque su mayor parte lo leyera en las últimas horas del 22.
Una nueva trama de la familia Mascarell. Los casos del ex inspector ya no son, simplemente, de él, sino del elenco de personajes de los que se ha ido rodeando en las anteriores entregas.
El conjunto es el de siempre, una buena historia con temas que enseñan cómo fueron los años de posguerra.
El desenlace es algo forzado e inverosímil, yo lo habría planteado de otra forma, pero por eso yo leo y disfruto, y gente como el autor nos sigue regalando su ingenio y arte para que pasemos buenos ratos.

I've read all of the Mascarell books and have enjoyed every one. It's a hard call but this one has an argument for shading first place. El Inspector is stretched across three different cases, all infringing on the wrongs of the francoist regime, as well as his new role as a sexuagenarian father and with his unwanted but deserving colleague in a coma and at risk of assassination. And what an ending! If you find this incredible, all I can say is you haven't known Miquel Mascarell as long as I have.

Me gusta mucho este autor pero este libro no me ha convencido : A la mitad la trama principal todavía no ha empezado y en general la mayoría de las páginas se dedican a narrar la vida diaria de Mascarell con escenas y diálogos intrascendentes y a ambientación, eso si como siempre muy buena, para luego en unas pocas páginas rematar cada caso y seguir dando vueltas a lo mismo .Para remate, el final me ha parecido precipitado y totalmente inverosímil. Hasta ahora la peor de la serie.

Fantàstic! Aquesta vegada amb l'originalitat de tractar-se de tres casos enlloc de només un. És una història més calmada i menys espectacular, però impossible de deixar de banda fins arribar al final. Llarga vida a en Miquel Mascarell!! ( i al geni responsable de la seva creació, en Jordi Sierra i Fabra ;-) )

Como de costumbre, el ex-inspector Mascarell repite con éxito, esta vez resuelve 3 casos partiendo básicamente de cero. Resulta terrible esa práctica de entonces de robar niños a madres solteras o rojas, es un acierto del autor arrojar luz a esta parte de la historia. No dejo de aprender y de disfrutar de la mano de este maravilloso personaje.

Malos tratos, infidelidad, doble moral, hipocresía, amantes que se fugan, homosexualidad, esposa estéril que se deprime e intenta suicidarse, marido militar que la adora y acude a redes que fingen muertes de bebés (robados a madres solteras) para darlos en adopción a matrimonios "normales" de buena posición social. Médicos, monjas, militares...

La décima entrega de esta serie del inspector Mascarell y no decepciona! Intriga y suspenso como siempre. Ya al final me imagine lo que pasaría pero no importa, me encantó. Seguirá la serie o terminará aquí?? A ver lo que decida el autor. Por mi que siga, me encantan sus cuentos y aventuras!

Episodi fluixet de la sèrie, amb un aspecte de fons (els robatoris de nounats perpetrats pels vencedors impunes de la guerra civil a l'Espanya franquista) ja revisat en capítols anteriors i un final més pirotècnic que creïble. Malgrat tot, com sempre, molt entretingut.

Qué decir de Mascarell? Pues eso, que me sigue encantando. Aunque quizás este libro no me ha atrapado tanto como los anteriores, pero lo he disfrutado igualmente. Me gusta el universo Mascarell.

Cuantas más novelas leo de esta serie mas me gustan. Y de nuevo. Quiero destacar mi admiracion a este autor por haber creado un personaje como Mascarell que tiene una escala de valores tan hermosa 💖
