In Suz Korb's captivating modern fantasy novel, "Divine," readers are invited to follow the thrilling journey of Kate, an ordinary teenager who unexpectedly finds herself entwined in the tumultuous world of Greek mythology and its pantheon of gods and goddesses. When a seemingly harmless accident at a chocolate event propels Kate and her town into the depths of Hades, her life takes an extraordinary turn. Within this enchanting realm, Kate encounters gods and goddesses who yearn for a taste of normalcy, just like any high school student. Drawn into an unexpected romantic entanglement, she finds herself torn between not one, but two charismatic and alluring deities, each with their own mysterious pasts. However, Kate's adventures take a harrowing turn when she's cursed with a head of serpentine hair, much like the fearsome gorgon of ancient myth. As her nightmares morph into a horrifying reality, Kate realizes that the fate of her hometown and the world itself hangs in the balance. With gods who enjoy playing with the lives of humans, she must summon newfound strengths and embark on a perilous quest to save her loved ones from a destiny intertwined with the whims of divine powers. In "Divine," Suz Korb skillfully melds the fantastical with the contemporary, immersing readers in a modern world laced with ancient mythology. As Kate navigates the complexities of love, friendship, and the struggle for normalcy, her journey resonates with themes of self-discovery and the unbreakable spirit of a teenager faced with extraordinary challenges. This enthralling novel is a whirlwind of adventure, romance, and mythical intrigue that will keep readers on the edge of their seats until the very last page.

If you enjoy YA fantasy that’s a little bit different, or even if you are fairly new to the genre, then this is well worth sinking into on an evening!
This is a book made up of a few stories, I often struggle with such things as I find that as i get to know the characters the story has finished and is moving on. In this case, each one was good fun and stuck to the character Kate, in her various scenarios involving the gods. It meant that each story was fast paced, the characters varies but maintaining that common theme to link everything, with familiar faces popping in and out.
In short, this was a fast read with several plots to excite and entertain from start to end. If you’re looking for something short for a break, whether a genre swap for a little bit or on a commute or work break, this is perfect!
My thanks to the Author via TBConFB Reviewers group for a copy of this in exchange for an honest review. I gave this collection of 5 short stories an 8/10 or 4/5 stars.
The 5 stories all interlinked with one another, to create a continuing tale of Kate, her developing relationships and adventures with the Gods. With plenty of returning characters in the short stories, they were a joy to read and it was great to find out what fate and the Gods had in store for Kate.
I enjoyed this series of short stories and found them to be a well written collection.
Quite different and unusual fantasy short stories featuring the same main character in scenarios. I enjoyed them all equally and found it refreshing that they were related short stories. Found the print font a bit small.
I received a copy of this book from TBC REVIEWERS request thank you This was a collection of 5 short stories with connected characters. I genuinely found this an easy read and it kept me engaged Thank you
Divine the goddess story collection by Suz Kirb. A unique and different fantasy read. This was a collection of 5 short stories. The main character grew on me. I loved the cover. 4*
As much as I do enjoy fantasy, even YA fantasy, this one is definitely more appropriate to actual young adult readers. I had to to take the occasional eye-roll break. I do have 2 teens of my own and teach teens, so the behavior was totally appropriate. Humorous and entertaining. And if you're expecting teen girls, I would recommend this.
