The Order #3

Chrysalis

Rate this book
After Wolf Manor, Fawn vowed to never be weak, broken, or scared again. She has wrenched her power from the Vultures, visiting them under the cover of darkness to deliver the same drug they’d given her. This version has a different side effect: death.
It doesn’t stop the nightmares, it can’t erase what happened, but revenge is the only distraction from Lyon Estate. Tucked in the wilderness, she draws back into herself until Master Lyon demands they make good on their deal. In order to continue her vengeance, he is to be her Owner—really this time.
While it is a small sacrifice to make, Fawn isn’t prepared to be pulled back into Elliot’s world, where the rules of the Order exist, but in a new way. Running from him sends her into the arms of others in House Chimera. People who should be off limits, but they also stir something within her wholly different than the emotions Master Lyon can conjure. Marius is patient, and she finds herself clinging to him more now than ever before. People like them don’t believe in love, but can they choose it?
Fawn is no longer the prey, but beyond the trees, a lone Wolf is hunting…

description If you've been following along with my reviews, then you know that this series has been a real struggle for me. It has SO many things I usually avoid in my romance books. To say it has pushed me clear off my comfort zone cliff is an understatement. (lol) At the same time, there has been something wildly compelling about this story that hooked me enough I just can't seem to quite it.

description

After two books I had a good idea what to expect, so I went into this one with a little less trepidation. And this book was my favorite so far. It was tamer than I expected, both in action and in sex. Not to say there wasn't a couple hot sex scenes (M/F, M/M/F, Implied M/M) because ooh lá lá there was, but overall it felt less sex and drama centered than the first two books (and NO humiliation...bonus). That worked especially well here because it gave us readers a bit of a breather and also allowed for a deeper connection to form between Fawn and Marius.

description

We also finally get some insight into Odette and Elliot's relationship. I am still not a fan of that whole situation, but Odette herself is sweet and kind, so it was hard to hate her. I am still not a complete fan of Elliott's either. I am not sure I trust him 100% yet. However, my seething hatred for him has dampened a little. (lol) I love that Fawn (Doe) and Marius grow closer, and ok, I'll admit all three of them (Elliot, Fawn, and Marius) make for a sexy and sweet trio. Last, major things are going DOWN at the end of this book and now I am dying to get my hands on the next (final??) book! Hopefully, I don't have too long to wait.

WOW, this was really a wild ride. One of this books where you can't put it down and you let all around you fade away.
The first 2 books in the series were like a prelude to this one.
It's ends with a cliffhanger, but let me tell you, with a epic one.
I hope we'll read the next book really soon, because the suspense kills me.
This book starts where the last finished. Like in the other books your are transported middle in the action. It's really difficult to take a break from reading, because the story is so gripping that you don't want to take a break (but who needs sleep, right? 😂).
It's still a dark and dangerous world around the story, but the story begins with healing and forgiving. After the world of slavery and ownership calm down and family life should take place, it's not so easy for Fawn to accepted the freedom.
It's not easy to forget the betrayal that was caused with the decisions Elliot has made.
She is drifting more and more towards Marius and his gentle nature. She realizes that she loves him as much as Elliot and don't understand how someone can love two people at the same time.
Till now love was something she understood as illusion.
A fairy tale that have been told her as a child, to make her and other girls to a perfect slaves.
The only thing keeping her alive is the revenge on the House Wolf.
The family life end with...😬
No, I'm sorry, that was enough,
you have to discover the rest for yourself, so read this book and enjoy.
I definitely enjoyed it very much
Definitely a must read for all the dark romance lovers, without a HEA 🤷🏻‍♀️, but maybe next time? 😳
This book is not a stand alone. You've to read the previous 2 books to follow the story.

Chrysalis by Nikki Rae

And the storyline continues

Chrysalis, the 3rd book in The Order series, continues with Fawn still struggle to survive her demons and the down fall of Wolf manor. In doing so, she is determined to seek revenge against the disgusting Vultures of the world.

With her return to House Chimera, Fawn battle's with her feelings of betrayal from Master Lyon/Elliot, and begins to rely on and trust Marius more and more each day. She becomes emotionally more dependent on him and in the process finds herself falling for her Owner's friend and servant. But Elliot is determined to put her broken pieces back together, just as he had promised before Wolf manor and Marius is there with his own love for Fawn, to help put her back together. Unfortunately, not all Wolves died at Wolf manor, and now Fawn's greatest fear is lurking and creating more devastation in an attempt to draw her to him.

Chrysalis continues with a dark and disturbing theme, as the 2 previous books, as well as triggers that not all will enjoy. In addition, this book brings in the added trope's of MM and MFM. Certainly not over the top or overly amplified, but enough to add a new pleasing twist. I will definitely be waiting on the continuance of the series with book #4.

As we head into book 3 of this series Fawn is no longer under the Vultures hold but as expected there’s a window of time that is needed to fully accept and understand this new reality and position in life. We see more interaction with Marius and Doe then we previously have seen and it’s a connection that is beautiful and trusting as the one we witnessed her develop with Elliot. This story as the others has triggers that not all readers are open to but I will say that this story pulls you in and has you wanting to know more, what will happen next? The cliffhanger is frustrating yet exciting because their story is not finished and we know that we will be right alongside House Chimera one again shortly.

You ever just keep reading and dont stop between books. Nikki has you at the edge of your seat kindle in one hand and a mug paused halfway to your mouth while your thumb and eyes move quickly as you devour the story of Fawn and the struggles she goes through. This is a dark romance with triggers. Not for the faint of heart. Vengeance, jealousy, love and a whole lot of yes sir!

OMG this series was so dark like anything I have read before. I don't even know where to begin with my review without giving anything away and beside my head is such a mess right now. So many emotions and questions going through it. Okay first thing first..this series needs to be read in order as every book ends in a cliffhanger. The first book is Bloom then Wilt and then Chrysalis.
When I started Bloom I knew this will be a dark read from the beginning I just didn't know how dark it will get, because trust me this series is nor for the faint of heart. The topic is really disturbing and for some readers it might be hard to read. But if you love dark reads and have no problem reading them (like me) then I highly recommend you read this one.
This books were absolutely amazing and no doubt will be one of my top reads in the Dark Romance genre. I loved it so fucking much that I was surprised how much I did.
It was my first read by this author and she just became one of my new favorite authors that you need to keep an eye on. She also became one of the authors who managed to challange my dark mind and go into the very dark conrners of it. And those authors are very few for now. She gave me so many feelings while reading her books. I have never cry on dark romance but trust me I did here. All the things Fawn and Elliot and Marius went through their whole life just made my heart feel so much for them. They went through so much pain that I wondered if it will ever end.
Reading page after page I never knew what to expect next. The story was so captivating that I could not turn them fast enough to find out what will happen next. And I still don't know what will happen next as it ended with a cliffhanger and now I need to wait for the next book and I am so lost I don't know what to do with my life. I have so many questions that need answers and I really wished I had the next book so I could start it stright away.
Brilliant, unputdownable, unforgettable story. Must Read.

This book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Nikki Rae!

“You are a Lyon now. You are a Chimera,” he added in a whisper, “If you do not like who you are, you can change it.”

Fawn escaped the Wolf Manor and now, she is out for revenge on the Vultures.

I really liked this book! Again, just as in the second installment, the dark aspects of this novel actually made sense to me. Since this is a non-spoiler review, I won’t be revealing much. But, I would like to think of this book as a setup for the shit-storm that will take place in the next installment.

The ending of this book made reading all the baths Fawn took, worth it.

This doesn’t mean I hated the baths, it just means I liked the ending that much. 😀

The thing is, this book actually worked a lot on the romance and chemistry between Fawn and Master Lyon and … that’s a spoiler! Hardcore romantic scenes usually don’t interest me as much as they used to, so I kinda got bored, especially during baths.

“In our world, one much take pleasure where one can find it. I’m…” His face contorted as he struggled to explain. “I’m not happy most of the time.”

But, if you actually think about it, this book is not written in the usual dark romance way. It had a lot of character building, actually dealing with trauma (it’s mostly just mint tea and talking, but I don’t mind) and most importantly, CONSENT. Lack of consent was one of the major problems I had with the first book. I’m so happy that this very important aspect of a relationship (I don’t care if it’s ‘dark’ or not) was addressed. Master Lyon, even though he still Owns her, gave her a choice in most of the matters.

I have read atleast 20 dark romance series, and this was the first time consent was addressed evenly throughout the book. Pennies by Pepper Winters also addressed consent a little but, mostly in the first installment.

He often diverted my attention from the present with what would happen in the future- never anything life-altering, but these small promises were enough to tame the rising panic in my chest.

I found this technique of managing how lost Fawn felt almost plausible. It didn’t feel forced. Also, this book kind of introduced bondage which made me even more excited for the next installment.

“Sometimes,” he said, no space between us now, being helpless with someone you love can heal how helpless you’ve been in the past.”

Sidenote, this gave me MAJOR bisexual panic !! Again, something different for a dark romance novel.

Overall, the ending made this book for me. It was logical, I wanted it to happen, I didn’t want it to happen. My heart is broken.

I was surprised by this story but not disappointed. After an impressive start the narrative slows down as we see Fawn try and find out where she fits in the new world she has found herself. I felt this was a much slower narrative than the others, not the same slow burn as we’ve seen before, I think I wanted more events to happen rather than such a detailed focus on the emotional side. That might be my own hangover from the end of the second book though.

I didn’t quite see the girl who wanted to burn down the establishment. We’d come from Wilt and while there were recoveries and emotional drain and turmoil, I still thought there’d be less vulnerability. I had to keep reminding myself that it was about her mental stability and recovery and the aftershock of everything that has happened. Elliot mentions that he needs to rebuild her after breaking her but I didn’t see her as broken at the end of Wilt, I saw her as her own renewed person. If we’re to look at her as being broken, I suppose that explains why this novel is focused a lot on her personal journey to be “rebuilt” rather than more external story.

That is not to say it wasn’t filled with wonderful things within this focus. There is a seductive exploration of trust and consent which only enforces the foreign, new relationship Fawn and Elliot have. There are more moments of intimacy between the two but there are also a few new moments with characters both new and familiar. The theme that you can love more than one person is evident and there is a focus on sorting through new emotions from Fawn rather than anything entirely explicit.

After such intimacy and emotion the focus shifts as the rest of the world intrudes once more and wreaks havoc. The illusion is shattered and reality and the past has come back with a vengeance. Rae brings this book to an exciting conclusion and leads us into the the end. Hopefully this includes an ending where we get to see Fawn bring down the establishment and seek the vengeance she deserves.

*I received this book from the author and Stephanie's Book Reports in exchange for my honest opinion.

YASSSSS!!!!!! Wait....NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! What just happened?

This is the third installment to this series and to say that I haven't been completely obsessed with it would be a blatant lie. In fact, I pretty much read all three back to back to back and now find myself in a bit of a book hangover as reality finally hits me......I have to wait for the next one....NOOOOO!!!!

After completely losing her trust in her Master, Doe finds herself actually trying to return to the person she was before the Wolf Manor incident. But in trying, she's finding out more secrets. Secrets that are helping her realize what she wants and desires. The question is, can she open herself up again?

Master Lyon and Mr. B. have never hidden their feelings, at least not in regards to Doe. So it became only natural that their feelings would become even more transparent, opening more doors and possibilities. But when the past comes darting around the corner, will their feelings outweigh the risks?

All. The. Feels. All of them. After everything each of these characters has been through, watching this unfold warmed my heart more than I thought it would. Geez. How did I get so attached to these characters? It's more likely due to the fact this author knows how to make us love them through her words. But I digress....

If you're looking for a HEA, although we may get what we're looking for eventually, it's not gonna happen in this one. Well...it will, just not in conclusion. But one thing's for sure, you WILL NOT be disappointed. Buckle up and enjoy the ride. It gets a little bumpy.

"After everything I have done, what had been done to me, there was nothing left but darkness."

Oooh boy! This book is filled with so many raw emotions that I don't even know how to begin describing it. Chrysalis is the third installment in The Order Series, and it continues from where Wilt left off. After destroying Wolfe Manor, Fawn is determined to bring down all the Vultures. But there is still danger lurking around the corner. After everything that happened, it's hard for Fawn to regain her trust in Elliot and she begins to form a special bond with Marius. Her feelings for both Master Lyon and Mr. B bloom and soon Fawn realizes that it is possible to love two people at the same time. Odette and Marius are such great characters, I really enjoyed learning more about their lives and how they became the persons they are today. The erotic prose was exquisite, the chemistry levels were off the charts. The book ends with yet another cliffhanger and I can't wait to see what happens next. I really need these characters to have a happy ending, my heart was aching for them. It was such an intense and emotional read. I highly recommend it!

English:
"Chrysalis" by Nikki Rae is the third book in the "The Order" series. It' s a dark romance with BDSM, with angst, damaged and captive characters, and sex slaves. An overly intriguing book with inappropriate content for certain people.

After Wolf Manor, Fawn vowed to never be weak, broken, or scared again. She has wrenched her power from the Vultures, visiting them under the cover of darkness to deliver the same drug they’d given her. This version has a different side effect: death. Fawn isn’t prepared to be pulled back into Elliot’s world, where the rules of the Order exist, but in a new way. Running from him sends her into the arms of others in House Chimera. People who should be off limits, but they also stir something within her wholly different than the emotions Master Lyon can conjure. Marius is patient, and she finds herself clinging to him more now than ever before.

Well, this book has been a change from the previous ones and very good. With the beginning, I already saw the great change of the protagonist and her new life, surrounded by Elliot, Marius, and Odette. I thought I was going to see a lot of differences between Fawn and Odette, and even a lot of jealousy, and a negative atmosphere. It was what worried me most about this book, and the surprise was great when I discovered as is the Odette character.

After everything I had done, what had been done to me, there was nothing left but darkness…

As for Fawn as well, I was surprised by her change, her way of being, although she still has parts of her previous life that she keeps with Elliot. Although, at all times Fawn likes that until she discovers what the relationship between Elliot and Odette is like does not conform well.

But Fawn and Marius were the ones who made me enjoy this book the most. I'm honestly between a rock and a hard place if I have to choose one like Fawn does, but she knows what to do. Marius in the first book didn't catch my attention, although in the second I started to like how he was with Fawn, and he helped her and more. But I love this book very much.

He said he’d rip out my heart if I didn’t obey” I confesed.
“You are my heart”, Marius whispered, “What happens to you happens to me”

Enjoy with this book all the changes that are in it, and also the tension that accumulates in the last chapters. Even the relationship between Fawn and Odette, and how Odette helps and gives her confidence, Fawn needed and not bad stuff, but the trio was most of all. That part I wanted and wanted so badly.

I tried really hard to not like these characters. Fawn’s story is tragic. She’s a fighter, but still a damsel that needs saving? Yes, but I can’t help rooting for her, for her cause. Because what was done to her was so vile; I want her to succeed.
And Master Lyon. I wanted to hate him. I wanted to see him as the villian, but he is a victim too. One who knows Fawn’s hurt because he has felt the pain and injustice too. So it’s so hard to not like these characters.
Now this book we learn more about Marius. The servant, who is so much more. I never wanted to dislike him, but we just didn’t know very much about him till this book. And now...I kind of love Marius.
As much as I didn’t want to be, I am pretty fond of them all. I am rooting for them all. I am so excited and nervous about where their story is headed.

Oh my my my this series with each book keeps getting darker and darker and just a warning there are triggers.

This is book 3 and picks up where Wilt left off and oh my yes revenge is sweet when you practice to deceive and that's what Fawn has set out to do against the one's who were cruel to her, but sometimes the best laid plans don't always work.

This book will make you want to know more of what's going to happen next. It does end on a cliffhanger, but it's so worth the read if you've been reading the series but if you haven't you definitely need to.

This is just my opinion and my review.

It’s just left me speechless and enamored. You have to read this series! I am yearning for the next book! Polyamorous situations and trigger warning.

Original review

This book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Nikki Rae!

Chrysalis
is the third book in The Order series and continues the story of Fawn/Doe and Elliot/Master Lyon.

In the beginning it was a bit hard to get into the story because it’s been such a long time since I read the second book in the series, Wilt, but when I finished the first two chapters I was immediately into the story. Chrysalis is just so fast paced and well written, like Bloom and Wilt, and I couldn’t get enough of the story!

The Order had given my Master the seeds; he was the one who had made them sprout into wild vines, covering every inch of truth I could have seen and making me question each second we shared

I remember not knowing what to think of Elliot/Master Lyon because of how Wilt ended, but now I love him all over again. We get to see a different side of him not that everything’s changed and I love it. Marius and Odette are both interesting characters and I don’t really want to spoil anything but damn… And then my favourite character: Fawn/Doe. She’s changed so much from how we know her in Bloom and I loved her character development. She’s become stronger and more beautiful (as a person).

Marius had meant to offer me comfort, but the slice of moon outside mocked me. I was trapped. We all were. No amount of stars could make the Wolves stop chasing us into different cages.

Chrysalis was everything that I needed and it was well worth the wait. I highly recommend this series because I love how dark this series is and Nikki Rae is just one of my favourite authors, so I have to recommend her books! I’m looking forward to reading the sequel!

Outstanding! I don't think I can put into words how amazing this book is.
We finally got to see Fawn start to come to terms with everything that has happened to her and with her feelings for the people of House Chimera.
And it was like a soothing balm to the wounds created by the events at the end of the previous book. We also got a deeper understanding of Marius, Elliot, and Odette's relationships and how they all weave together with Fawn.

It's like each of the men fit together with her like a puzzle piece. Their strengths and weaknesses balancing each other so well that when apart they seem broken and don't make much sense. But when they are together they fill all the empty pieces of each other until the picture is clear. That is when they are truly beautiful and whole and the chemistry between them is amazing.

But reality is rarely kind for very long and no sooner does Fawn start putting her life back together does it get shattered all over again.

This book basically made me feel every emotion there is and had me holding my breath until the very end.
In my opinion Chrysalis is Highly recommended.

Well, I’ve read this trilogy to date, but I’m not quite sure what I think exactly. Fawn was sold for the first time when she was nine years old. She fought to protect herself and was badly scarred. You see, there’s a place where slaves are kept and trained until they’re sold to a house. Since her first sale she’s been there. Many years later she’s sold again. Her Master, Elliot shows her kindness instead of pure hate. As Fawn grows feeling for him she finds out that not only is Elliot married but that he was a slave himself. And that he bought her to trade her for his wife. So, that’s book one.

In the next book they grow closer together and actually have some intimate interactions. Through many twists and turns our story continues into book three, which is this one.

Fawn’s only goal now is revenge against the Vultures while still being hunted by a Wolf and a Lyon lying in wait. Elliot has helped her and now he wants her to be his slave, but Fawn has come to enjoy her freedom.

And, hello cliffy I’m sorry but you’ll have to wait for the next book for more.

There is a lot going on in these books. They kept my interest, but I did get bored at times. At other times I couldn’t put it down. The author takes us on an interesting journey that I was not expecting. What a roller coaster of a journey.

Book 3 in The Order series by Nikki Rae

🖤 After the events in Wilt, Chrysalis starts off with Fawn adjusting to the freedom she hasn’t quite accepted yet. As always with this series, you’re in for a wild ride. This story teeters between love & healing and heartbreak & betrayal.

🖤 Fawn killed the Wolf herself and took her freedom by force (which she is struggling to accept). The only thing keeping her going is her plan for revenge on the Vultures of the Grimm Order Society. With Elliot’s betrayal pushing them further apart, Fawn leans into the more gentle Marius, leaving her even more confused on how she feels about her Owner and even his wife.

🖤 Elliot did what he said he would. Not only did he get his wife back, he also rescued Fawn from the Wolves he tossed her to. But he unintentionally broke her in the process. He struggles to fix what he broke, while also trying to protect them from one Wolf they thought was dead.

🖤 Relationships are tested and new ones are explored. The journey’s of Fawn, Elliot, Marius, and Odette are far from over. Fawn almost didn’t survive Elliot’s betrayal, but can he survive her’s?

After everything that Fawn has been through, you wonder how she is so strong, even when she doesn’t think or feel that way. She is definitely an intriguing mix of gullibility, strength and darkness. Feeling betrayed by Elliot and now knowing where she stands with him and Odette as well as seeing a surprising if not sensual twist on her relationship with Marius. The relationships between characters is certainly complex and filled with emotions, sensuality and intrigue in this third book which are a lot more developed and ultimately raw in comparison to the first one – Bloom.

All three of the books take you through a range of human emotion; cruelty, jealousy, love, passion to name but a few and you are left on your seat wanting more. These books are certainly not for the faint hearted, should be read in order and expect to have a cliff-hanger that will leave you asking so many questions. You have been warned!

ARC received for a fair and honest review.

This is book 3 in the series. In this book we see how Fawn is doing after being rescued from the Wolf. We see how Fawn tries to readjust back in living with Master Lyon and the rest of the members. In this book we get to know who Odette is and what her relationship is really with Elliott, we also got to see more of Marius and the relationship he has with Elliott.

There was parts I felt the story was dragging a bit but in the end. You get hooked and of course the story ends on a cliffhanger and I need to read the next book to see what will happen to all if them.

If you haven’t read the other books in the series you need to in order to understand the story.

Oh no, what's happening? This series started off so intense and beautiful. I'm enthousiastic of the storyline and the way the writer combines deep psychological experiences with enough action to keep me reading hours on end.
But in this book, the FMC just stopped developing? And perhaps even more than that, the character was all over the place? I just couldn't follow her motivations and emotions any longer. Almost felt like they were written to fit the plot... Yeah, I lost my connection to the single POV it's written in. Will I or will I not read the next book?

This is book three in The Order Series and Fawn is still struggling to survive while seeking revenge against the Vultures. And let me tell you once I started this series I couldn’t put down and kept wanting more. The relationship between them is so intriguing to me and I wanna understand their feelings and how their story will turn out, specially with that cliffhanger at the end!! To me is a 5 ⭐️ read and completely worth the read!

These books are such a wild ride! This book I actually remained liking Master Lyon for the entire book, which I cannot say of the others. The relationship between Fawn and Elliot grows a lot more over this book and definitely becomes spicier! There is also a lot more clarity on the individual relationships between each of the characters! Mr. B is also a huge part of this book which I found myself loving! It does end on a sort of cliff hanger so be prepared to read the next book right away!
