The Emissary was explosive. The Defector is heart-stopping!
In the second thrilling installment of The Earth Epsilon Wars, Matt Reeves and his team, having successfully traveled back in time and taken Dr. Rossiter hostage, set out to assist him in creating the last trump card humanity has left against the Wraith; a deadly, alien-killing pathogen known as the Scourge. But Matt begins to suspect that mankind’s future enemy may already be here in the present, lurking patiently in silence, waiting for the right moment to strike.
Is the next Wraith invasion already here?
Matt will not only be forced to question the mission, but also his own humanity while he races against the clock to uncover the truth about this war and the very fate of mankind itself.

You may have read my last, very brief remarks on the first book in this series by Terrance Mulloy. It was hard to write anything about the book without giving away some very important details about the plot.
I am assuming, that if you are reading this blog post, then you have potentially read the first book, or do not plan on doing so...and therefore I will be sharing info that would be considered spoilers for Book 1 - I suggest you stop reading now if you do not want spoilers for Book 1!
You were warned!
Time travel and alien invasions...yes...it sounds a bit like "Edge of Tomorrow" and it would be easy to leave it at that...but this style of time travel alien invasion story is a different style. There is no resetting...there is no second chance...Matt and his crew are sent to the past utilizing a one way ticket and this is the only chance that they get to beat the Wraith.
Unfortunately for Matt, his team and the human race...the Wraith are way ahead of the silly humans in their attempt to stop the invasion of Earth.
This book started out a little off putting for me due to a ton of technical, scientific speak that probably 99.9999% of the people reading this story will not begin to even slightly comprehend (unless you are a virologist or molecular engineer or something). I get that it is to help convince Dr. Rossiter (a scientist that Matt gets sent back to save from death so that he can complete his work) that Matt and company are not terrorists, but I felt that this could have been glossed over a bit more...but here I am... writing on this little blog in the middle of the internet with a handful of readers while this book is published and being read by many readers...so who am I to judge? 🤷
Readers of the first book will know that Matt's wife, Karen, was killed during the Wraith invasion of Earth. Matt relives this through nightmares in this book while living in the past trying to prevent that from happening, when he seemingly passes by his future wife while walking down the street. At first, one would think that this would be an obvious sign to Matt that the Wraith are here and that this is an asset, or created clone, but this is where Terrance Mulloy's amazing writing helps us realize how unsettling this is for Matt and how it keeps him from thinking rationally!
The story picks up at an incredible pace as the story finds Matt meeting new allies in his mission to save humanity and you will find yourself almost being pulled along trying to keep up as this story gets more and more wild!
This book is an amazing follow up to the first book and is what great science fiction should be! If you have not started reading this series...and you are a fan of science fiction...pick this series up!
Be warned...this cliff hanger at the end of the book will make you want to pick up the next book immediately...so maybe just have that one handy! 😉

Matt has been assigned to a team to assist in carrying out the mission. Together with his teammates, it is a simple matter to retrieve Dr. Rossiter; or at least they thought so. Unknown to the team, there was another interested party monitoring their every move. Under intensive tutoring, Dr. Rossiter begins to believe why the team is here and what it is they want him to do. Unfortunately, the interested party, who turns out to be Wraiths, interferes and ruins everything the team had accomplished. Matt struggles to put some of the pieces back together. Whether he manages to do so will be in the next volume.
CIA, FBI, FBC, NSA. Agents from all over know one thing, and its not the truth. Thrilling, captivating, action packed. Well written and thought out. Well worth the read.
This is an exciting read. The twists and turns are well thought out the characters are well defined. I thoroughly enjoyed the this chapter and will be starting the next later today. I recommend this series to anyone who enjoys a great writing.
