Illicit is a quick, intense paranormal love story filled with great characters, drama and a happily ever after with no cliffhangers. This book is written in third person from the perspective of the both the heroine, Dahlia Danzer and the hero, Forester James.

The prologue provides the reader with an explanation and history of the world the characters are living in and the consequences resulting in choices not acceptable by the higher councils.

Dahlia is a sorceress and musician dreaming of signing a contract with a record label for her music. Forester is an record label executive and the Alpha of his wolf shifter pack. Both are struggling with the rules and expectations of the world around them. When they meet, the chemistry between them is hot and intense, but past experiences intrude and choices are made. Will they both be able to forgive each for the mistakes they’ve made? Or will the Judiciary’s decision stop their relationship before it even begins? Read it to find out!

This was the first book by Kathryn Kohler that I have read and I am looking forward to reading more of her work. This is a voluntary review of an advanced readers copy.

AN ABSOLUTE DELIGHT!!!
OMG! Talk about blindsided. If you're looking for wicked witches, sexy wolves, lots of magic and swirling emotions that will definitely rock your world. Congratulations, my friends you've found it. This bad boy hit the ground running. Kathryn brings every emotion you feel into play front and center. Keeping the action and suspense going throughout this entire tension filled rollercoaster ride. The characters chemistry is intense, sizzling and explosive. The characters are complex, believable and so realistic it propels this bad boy forward bursting to life spectacularly. Always maintaining the characters forward motion while holding you breathless and on a razors edge balancing it out perfectly. The scenes are so graphic and detailed theres no trouble picturing each senario with such a compelling storyline and thrilling plot it really pulls this little guy together beautifully. Remarkable job Kathryn, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.

The preface had me concerned because if the entire book had been written the way the preface was, I would not have completed it. That said, the information in the preface was crucial to the understanding of what would occur throughout the book. Once I started with the prologue, I was hooked. You think a relationship is complicated when the people are different races or countries but just think how difficult it would be if you were from a different group of immortals and you aren't allowed to be together. What would you do if just being together could be a reason to have you killed? I loved Dahlia except when she made her big mistake. Forester was a real sweetheart although he acted like a jerk at the beginning. Cole was funny and a great friend. Raff was definitely a character you didn't like. Ah, but the love story and the risks to have a HEA were worth it.

I really enjoyed reading this fascinating paranormal romance. The story-line & plot is intriguing, well-thought out & written with unique characters that have individual personalities that are quite complex & they are inclined to be devious at times.
There is: a female witch/sorceress with high expectations (Dahlia Danzer), a alpha lycan/wolf shifter & record label producer (Forester James), his not so nice partner (Rafael Cartier aka Raff), a judiciary council, different realms, rules & regulations, adventure, action, magic, twists & turns, intrigue, danger, threats, enemies, power plays, jealousy, spying, memories, attractions, a unexpected surprise, confrontations, blackmail, happiness, love, steamy scenes & a well deserved happy conclusion. I would recommend this paranormal romance.

Fantastic story that you can read quickly set in an intriguing world. All the paranormal creatures have their own realms and councils and try to limit interaction with each other. Lots of plotting and planning going on on the political side of things that effects the lives of the everyday people. But there is one rule everyone agrees on - no interbreeding. Dahlia is a witch and Forester a Lycan, but their attraction in immediate and off the charts and can't be denied. But with the different factions making moves to gain power, their relationship gets caught in the crossfire. Interesting twists, steamy scenes, and a bit of mystery will have you glued to the pages. My only complaint is that I wish there was more!

The judiciary council rules that they shouldn't be together but Dahlia Danzer and Forester James are drawn to each other She is a singer who also happens to be a sorceress he is the alpha of his wolf pack The judiciary says that there should be no cross breeding but the heart wants what the heart wants. Will the judiciary drive them apart will past events destroy their love or will they triumph and have a HEA You will need to read to see

Illicit (challenge of the Immortals)

Choosing this book was one of the best things I've ever done.
This truly is one of my new favorite author's, I look forward to reading more of her books. The characters mesh so well together. Both smart and very loving towards each other no matter what odds are stacked against them
Definitely a fantastic story line that I would highly recommend to all who want to get lost and believe in love .

KU Edition reader...

What a powerful story! Each type/race of paranormal has their own "realm," allowing few ways to interact or intermingle; pregnancy between them is a death sentence! Definitely an exciting and intriguing story you will enjoy!

Paranormal romance

This story read like a contemporary romance with a little magic added into the mix. The characters were interesting and so was the plot.

Has what it takes to become a great series.

Little plot developement. Prologue a bit confusing since it does not explaine the consequences of having called the police....

This book was different from most “shifter realms” books I have previously read. It’s rather intense and does leave a few plot holes, but all in all it’s a pretty decent read.
