What am I supposed to do with myself for the next two and a half months until the final book comes out?!? That cliffhanger has me crying, and I need more immediately.

We get to see more of Dom and Tori's relationship in this one, as they grow closer but also have more obstacles to overcome. I think the queen is so evil and scary! I really want Tori to be more open with Dominic about what is going on, and even though I understand why she isn't, I also want to scream at her for it. At least, as a general rule, there isn't more angst just for the sake of it. Any angst there is has a reason, and is not overdone which is refreshing. When characters actually communicate with each other is my favorite kind of story! I also really liked Tori's interactions with the blood slaves in this one. I can't say any more about this book without giving anything away, but I am so ready for the final installment and will be impatiently and anxiously waiting!

Okay wow. Where do I even start? Hmmm maybe with Leigh Walker is now one of my favorite authors? Or maybe I should mention she has a way of writing a sexy prince into existence? Either way, I want the whole world to know about her books.

I esp. loved the Pact because I feel like there was slightly more steam (still clean and YA) but the scenes with Prince Dom had me swooning even more than usual in this book. Not to mention there were some twists and turns that I didn't see coming.

I seriously love the world the Leigh created and can't wait for the next book in the trilogy to get here.

Having learned that she has travelled back and forth repeatedly over the past nine years and that her mother and sister are alive and living in an adjacent kingdom, newly engaged Victoria is beginning to come terms with her burgeoning powers and developing love for Prince Dominic.

With the wedding two weeks away, Tori tries to stay under Queen Danica’s radar until she can see her mother and sister again. This proves difficult as the Queen wants to use Tori as a tool in her nefarious scheme to enslave mankind and have vampires feed in the open.

As answers come to light regarding her parentage and the reason her blood is special, Queen Danica drops the ultimate bombshell. One that not only threatens her relationship with Dom and their plans to save the Kingdom, but her very life...

The Pact is the second exhilarating instalment of the Vampire Kingdom series and was even more compelling than the first. There were so many twists and jaw dropping moments as unexpected revelations came to light, that I was virtually spinning by the final chapter.

Once again the characters showed real depth and substance which is a testament to the authors characterisation skills. Tori and Dom’s relationship initially blossoms before her world comes crashing down and she’s forced to keep secrets from him in order to protect him. Queen Danica is a particularly nasty formidable villain. I found myself feeling a sense of dread every time Tori was summoned to her presence. Anthony once again provided the light relief. No matter how bad the situation, his banter with Tori had me laughing out loud. I also liked Tori’s camaraderie with the blood slaves this time round.

All in all this was a well crafted, excellent paced, intriguing instalment which ends on a cliffhanger. I can’t wait to read the third and final instalment.

#1 The Trade ★★★★☆
#2 The Pact ★★★☆☆
#3 The Claim ★★★☆☆

I don’t want to be with someone who thinks of me as a chapter. I want to be the whole book. I want that kind of love that lasts, that outlives everything else—space, time, age.

Prepare thyself for a long-winded gripe. It makes me sad when a good series begins to pitter out. Not that I didn't enjoy this book as it was a decent (by which I mean, subtly devolving in quality, but still readable because I'm invested) read, but I do not like the direction it went, there was not enough focus on the main plot and the story seemed strung together in a rather sloppy manner.

I'm not a fan of lengthy recaps for one, it reads like unnecessary filler content. Second, this turned into a total 'will they or won't they' scenario - NO THANKS. I can understand one, maybe two altercations, that's understandable when gone about the right way. No there were many, many times that they broke up, got back together, broke up, got back together, etc. The redundancy was intolerable, and broke believability that they are emotionally capable of a lasting, solid relationship; it sucked so much fun out of them as a couple. With Tori it's a bit more understandable, but only a bit, because she's 18 and I expect some immaturity. Dom however is over 1,000 years old, has social experience from his upbringing, and has had plenty of time to gather wisdom so really, I expect much more from him in the maturity department. We're to believe that they belong together but they can't even communicate or handle their issues like adults. It was just.....just so you know, I'm making a face here.....overly dramatic in a bad way and.....*exhales*.....painful to read. For me, using these kinds of issues as a means to push the plot is a lazy way to go about it. My third gripe is the fact that the humor simmered wayyy down, boo.

Yeah I know, it seems like I hated this book but I really didn't. As I was reading it became extremely apparent that this was not written with my maturity level in mind, so does that make it a bad book? Absolutely not, and I tried to keep this in mind throughout. There are major issues that bother me for sure, but I still stand by what I said when I mentioned that this is a unique concept for a vampire story. I just feel like so much of it stagnated, but despite how the execution dwindled the concept remains pretty fabulous, and younger audiences will undoubtedly connect with these circumstances more deeply than I.

Content Warnings for weight loss pressure, gravely ill loved ones, life-threatening blackmail scenarios, slavery, racism, allusions to human blood-bag breeding sex trafficking, threats of infant/child endangerment, abandonment, threats of child enslavement, violence, cultish themes, and a brief scenario of unsolicited male-on-female groping (not quite alluding to rape, but may still be uncomfortable). ♡

I received this book from the author.

This one picks up pretty much where the first ended.

It’s a continuation of the story in which Victoria is chosen to marry the vampire prince, Dominic. I enjoyed the first half of this book for the details that were released about her and her visits to and from the kingdom. Throughout the book, we learn more about her and her history, and later about her family and how they all tie into the Kingdom.

This book develops the relationship between Dominic and Victoria more. They’re more physical and just generally get closer and learn about each other. As good as this sounds, I wasn’t loving it. While I enjoyed Dominic in book 1, he wasn’t my favorite in this one. He needs to stop freaking out everytime Victoria has a negative thought toward their upcoming wedding. He needs to understand that she hasn’t “known” him for as long. On the flip side of this, Victoria bore me in the first one, but she’s a bit more interesting in this one.

The only problem I had with this book was how bored I was through it. I wasn’t at the edge of my seat. I only seemed to pick it up because I just wanted to read, I knew I had to finish this, or because when I finish it I can move onto book 3 and then other books. These books take me days to get through and there’s really no reason it should, other than my interest level. The story is unique and interesting and book 1 really intrigued me. But this one is slow. Not much happens. We do learn a lot about Victoria and I appreciate how it doesn’t come out all in one blurb. She figures it out or is told as the story progresses. Plus the queen is building herself to be a bigger villain. So it’s not that this book didn’t have anything happen during it; it’s just that what did happen wasn’t super engaging and didn’t make me want to pick the book up.

Going into book 3 now. Hope to see a wedding and the queen’s take down. And for this series to end on a good note.

Tori’s life has been turned upside down. She thought her mother and sister died in car crash, thought she was on her own, and thought she never would fit in anywhere. Boy was she wrong! Turns out her mother and sister are alive and living under the rule of an influential vampire; she’s engaged to a handsome prince-who happens to be a vampire as well and she’s starting to develop friendships, never mind the fact that her future mother in law wants her dead!

The characters are full and vivid. Anthony is still quick witted and hilarious. Tori is maturing, developing a keen insight and learning that she does have a backbone-and is learning to use it. Dominic is a still the dashing and gallant gentlemanly Prince. These characters have great chemistry and have a fantastic camaraderie together.

The other cast of supporting characters are all full bodied as well and you are very quick to pick sides. The Queen is a fantastic villain and you really do feel bad for the King. All characters in this book have worked their way into your hearts and you definitely want the good guys to succeed.

I look forward to reading the next instalment very much. As I said with the first book, and now this one, it’s a great series and I can’t wait to see what happens in the future!

After returning to Dominic's timeline to be with him, Tori starts to actually look forward to her upcoming nuptials. However, as the Queen becomes more and more unhinged it is hard stay focused on the exciting moments ahead.

The Queen knows what Tori is, she knows Tori has the potential to kill her society or indebt an entire race to the Queen, and thus coerces Tori into helping convince guards and blood slaves that their pending relationships and future children will be protected within their new society. The kicker? If she tells Dominic, the Queen separate them.... permanently. Tori finds herself stuck doing the Queen's bidding to save the man she loves.

I, personally, struggled with this predicament because I found it silly for a teenager to decide what was the best way to handle a situation rather than letting the immortal beings in on the secret to come up with a game plan. But as a whole, I enjoyed book 2 in the series better than book 1. I liked seeing Tori's relationship with Anthony as well as the blood slaves blossom. The steamy scenes with her betrothed weren't half bad either ;)

I loved book one but this story was a lot more involved. It was mostly about the new relationship and all the obstacles that two characters had to deal with. I loved the passion between them and the way they worked together. The action was balanced and I loved everything about the story. I could not love a couple more than these two. Dealing with the wedding, the Vampire Queen and all that involved this story kept me turning the pages until the very last one; then I was upset because… another cliffhanger!!! I can’t wait to see how the third story turns out. I have a few questions and hopes that I want answered and to come true! Well written and addictive, this is one of those stories you don’t put down. Get ready to read the entire thing and tell your family you are not available! Highly recommended!! I received an ARC and am leaving an honest review.

Not for me

I just wanted the book to end! The book lacks excitement and was getting dull. It feels like there is no clear conflict in the story. The characters need to think better. It’s more of telling rather than showing or feeling the story. It felt like the author spent so much time on things that does not matter like always having dinner and sucking the life out of the slaves, the reluctant relationship of Dominic and Victoria seems to be very trivial. The character interactions is flat with no unique trait. I was glad it was just over for me. It does not seem to interest me at all.

Swoon worthy!

I was so excited when this darling book was released because I enjoyed the first one so much. To see the relationship grow between Victoria and Dominic has the hopeless romantic in me jumping for joy! Of course there is plenty of suspense to keep me reading too. I was on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next, which would explain why I couldn't put this book down. I have loved everything Leigh Walker has written and this one was no different. Please never stop writing!

I love this series so far!

From the very start i have loved Victoria aka Tori and Prince Dominic aka Dom as a couple! They are perfect for each other despite all odds. The story itself is awesome! It definitely has me hooked still. I need to know what happens next. Trying to be patient until the next book comes out is pretty hard haha. I can't help myself but wonder how this story will end! That's how good it is! I really recommend this series so far. Author Leigh Walker is amazing with her story writing! You will love this series too!

Up ‘til chapter 20 this was all swoon worthy, romantic with a little bit madness and crazy. Then came a twist, a BIG twist and everything was no, no, no what? Why? How can that be? Why did it happen? Please tell me it’s a joke or I misunderstood. But no, I did’t and things got worse in the end. And now I feel like my heart has been ripped out and I want to run away screaming. So, what I wanted to say.... This is an amazing book and everyone should give it a try!

The second book is impressive as the first one.I love tori's character and as she matures out in this book she is more beautiful than ever..Her life is turned upside down as she realizes her family didn't die but are under a vampire's influence.
The chemistry sizzles between Tori and Dom and it is intriguing to watch them grow more and more as a couple.Gripping plot that had me at the edge everytime the evil queen does something.
Very capturing and worthy!!

I've definitely outgrown teenage romance; it's gotten to a point where it's too cringey for me to continue reading. The way Victoria narrated was also quite different from the first book (more expressive and directed towards the reader). I also found a little too many inconsistencies in the writing (e.g. the characters saying they'll be overheard and then still continue talking about confidential topics), which was a little too contradictory for my liking. :/

What a ride. This is for sure an intriguing and thrilling story. This one picks right up from the first book of the series and pulls you right back in. The characters continue to grow and develop their personalities. Some you love others you love to hate. Just when I think the story will go one way it does a 180 and spins away in the opposite direction. Definitely excited for the next book.

The plot twists and turns throughout the story are just amazing with such a well written story line. Victoria and Prince Dominic are such great characters and you can tell they'd be perfect together. It all comes down to what Victoria is willing to risk to be with Dominic to choose her now or forever. I can't wait to read The Claim!!!
