Born out of wedlock by a mother who walked the same road, Joyce Attah’s lineage is plagued by a vicious cycle. Her first love Seyi is a close call to picking up from where her mother stopped and leaves her with a devotion to God that stems out of a crippling fear; fear of continuing a lineage of women who became mothers without being spoken for by a man. Hope flickers when Ik crosses her path and sweeps her off her feet. The past comes calling when he slams the door of friendship in her face. Will the patterns from her family tree determine the rest of her life? Will she be courageous enough to embrace an eternal script that speaks a better promise?
My second Nigerian author's book I am reading and I was not disappointed. I enjoyed the flow of the story and the characters was wonderful. I loved how the author wove faith and the power of God into the most dire of situations. I enjoyed the twists and turns that brought Zaniab and IK together and the theme of forgiveness and identity found in Christ was my favorite part of the story.
I received a copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.
