《射鵰》最成功之處，是在人物的創造。
《射鵰》的故事，甚至可以說是平舖直敘的，所有精采的部分，全來自所創造出來的、活龍活現、無時無刻不在讀者眼前跳躍的人物，如眾所周知的郭靖、黃蓉。
《射鵰》在金庸的作品中，流傳最廣，最易為讀者接受，也在於這一點。

傻人有傻福，一股执着一股拼劲。放在今天，这种一遇上高人就被传经授道的只怕要俗了。恶者机敏，善者鲁莽。恶者逍遥自在，善者忧心抑郁。也就只有亦正亦邪的桃花岛能打破这个界限。江湖上果然到处都是误会啊。比之小红马更爱双雕，都说是有灵性描述的少却反而更足一些。最喜欢的角色，不会是郭靖或黄蓉，只怕是黄药师或洪七公啦。
