Beverley Oakley writes Regency, Victorian and Georgian-set romances full of passion and laced with mystery and intrigue.

Lady Sarah’s Redemption Lady Olivia’s Butterfly A Little Deception
Cute novella with Harlequin sensibility packed into 50-some pages. Grace, a young prostitute at a posh brothel, accepts a seemingly easy gig, i.e. to dispatch some rich guy's virginity on his 21st birthday. She expects a whingy beta-boner clinging to mama's skirts, but surprise! It's the same family that she once worked for as a housemaid, who then sacked her after she became pregnant. But the mistress of the house is haughty & oblivious, so Grace decides to fulfill a private fantasy & boff the son she always wanted...the son who is now blind, thanks in part to her abrupt departure.
Sex ensues, followed by tender feels & dramatic confessions, before a mad rush to the finish line & come-to-Jesus meeting with the villain(s) of the piece. Ellen Wood & Mary Elizabeth Braddon -- those badass broads of sensational Victoriana -- would be proud of this improbable, soapy storyline. (Not coincidentally, I also approve. :D)
Blurb: Grace Fortune trusts no one after she was betrayed by the man she once loved.
Now, she's the most popular 'Cyprian' at Madame Chambon's high-class London House of Assignation, consort of aristocrats and princes.
As Faith prepares for her next job as the special initiation ‘gift’ procured by a mother in fashionable Mayfair for her son’s twenty-first birthday, she plans her revenge.
But revenge is a dish best left uneaten if the truth is not what's being served.
This is a lovely second chances romance and I was happily surprised at the way it turned out. This story is a page turner and I just had to find out what would happen. The main character was a young parlormaid who was compromised and after her life disintegrates she manages to rebuild it. In strange circumstances she finds her second chance and takes it. So eventually it was a win-win situation and I loved it.
Ruined and turned out without a reference, Grace Fortune survives on the meager wage granted to her by selling her body. Told only from Grace's perspective, we see he barrenness of her life and resignation for the next client she's to service. That client changes everything. An engaging read that pulled me into the story completely and had me cheering at the end. Recommended.
This is a very short story. 52 pages but I really loved it. The writing is wonderful, the story was a delight. Just really enjoyed. Will continue on with the series. Just loved!
I am working my way through the Hot Down Under short story series and this was a lovely little historical amidst the more contemporary works. The story of a tragic romance between a high born young man and the maid that is his soul mate is beautifully told. Grace suffered a fall from grace when her beloved David's mother and cousin conspired to tear them apart. Three years later, on his 21st birthday the innocent young man is confronted by a fallen woman who reminds him of his lost love.
This is quite a sweet story, despite the fairly high level of explicitness required for an encounter between a courtesan and the young man she is to instruct. The stories of the two young lovers in the years they are apart are heartbreaking. The ending is satisfying in spite of the limited nature of the story length.
Wow! What an unexpected love story! My first book from this talented Author. I loved it so much! It takes place 1870's London. Grace, is a dark haired beauty. She was working as a maid for a few years in family household. Due to a series of unfortunate and tragic events, she finds herself dismissed. She has no other choice than to work for a high class brothel. One day she is chosen to go to a clients house for his pleasure. But, in this unusual situation the client's mother is paying. When Grace meets the client, she is emotionally and happily surprised. This was a beautifully detailed written short. I enjoyed the story line and the characters. It was so surprising and so enjoyable for me to read. I just wish it was longer. But I really loved it
A steamy and enjoyable second chance romance. When prostitute Grace is hired as a 21st birthday present for an entitled young man, little does she dream that the man is her beloved David. After being raped and disgraced by David's cousin, Laurence, she had no choice but to go to a brothel. Now, will she be able to disguise her love for David and treat him as just another client? Or, will their love be able to rise above her disgrace?
I enjoyed reading this short book, I loved the character development and the sex was just steamy enough without being raunchy.
I am volunteering to leave a review for an ARC of this book. Poor Grace was disgraced by David's cousin. Taking advantage of the fact that she worked for the family, he forces her to pose for him, among other things. She is dismissed and forced into the life of a prostitute. Fate brings her back for hours of pleasure with the love of her life. Will he recognize her, after having lost his sight to that miserable cousin. I think you will enjoy this 4+ book by Ms. Oakley, I did.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this. It kept me on the edge of my seat and I read it in one sitting. Absolutely loved the main character and I became enthralled in her story. Cannot wait for the next installment of the series.
Grave & David's story was heartwarming. Betrayed by people she least expected, her life is thrown in total chaos. He believed she had betrayed their shared dreams. Together they will discovered all their assumptions were incorrect. Highly Recommend. Happy Reading.
Australian author. Grace, cast out on the streets after being raped, was left with no other option but to join Mme Chambon’s brothel in order to survive. Three years later, she is given as a birthday present to the man she had previously loved.
Finally Grace gets some closure on how she was dismissed and ending up a Cypriot. David still mourned the loss of his young love. A satisfying end to their young fate. Thank you for an engaging read, Danny and Debbie Scott.
She is young and in love but the cousin wants her and her employer wants her gone by any means. Three years later, she is a sought after cyprian. She is employed to tutor a virgin male. She goes in and it is someone she knows. I thought this was a very sensual story. You could see something going on in the background, he touched her hair. I loved this tale of honesty between the the two main characters, Grace and David. It was amazing. You could see the progression of the couple and the love beginning again. I hope to read more of Ms. Oakley's work, this one is worth the time. I received this ARC free and voluntarily reviewed irt.
An interesting story. When I downloaded Forsaking Hope it brought back memories of Saving Grace I read it some time ago but did not do a review. With getting an opportunity to have not just this one but two other stories in this series I knew I had to a review. This story like the others is about a young woman for one reason or another is forced into a brothel. Grace comes face to face with the one man who holds her heart. The challenge for Grace and David to face will not be conquered easily but it sure made for an interesting story. I just loved this book and looking forward to Hope and Faith’s story.
Saving Grace by Beverley Oakley is a fairly short read, a great choice for those with limited time for reading. Ms. Oakley has given us a book that is well-written and filled it with fantastic characters. Grace and David's story is a second chance romance packed with drama, sizzle and just a bit of action. I enjoyed reading Saving Grace and look forward to reading more from Beverley Oakley soon. Saving Grace is part of the Fair Cyprians Of London Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
A quick good read! I enjoyed this tale of second chances. Grace has fallen but accepted her life. She is a strong woman. David is not the man she remembers. I loved how innocent he was and how his love was still there. I look forward to reading the rest of this series.
I received a copy of this story through Candid Book Reviews, and this is my unsolicited review.
An interesting, sad and redeeming story of Grace, a woman working in a brothel. Well written short story with intense characters, strong emotions, suspense, love, passion and a satisfying outcome. Kept my interest all the time with the good descriptions and narrations that I followed eagerly.
this was a good short story.. it was sweet and interesting.. it also kept me on the edge of my seat.. it was fast paced and very good. i am glad i got to review it
This story is an eye opener. It sickens the soul to know how terrible life for women during this time period was and how it still is to some degree in today's world.
Originally part of the Hot Down Under series, this erotic romance story is set in the Regency period. The heroine had years ago had been turned out and betrayed. The only work she could find was as a prostitute. Hired by an aristocrat's mother for his birthday present (ewww), the events that follow will change Grace's life once again.
Easy flowing story that was engaging. I was cheering for Grace and wanted her HEA. She's become gutsy since the events of her past and confronted by the man whom she loved, is determined to enjoy her night with him.
Disclaimer: while I know the author personally, this doesn't affect the rating.
I received this book free from the author. This is my honest and voluntary review.
Prostitution enslaves women who have been conditioned to believe that they are worthless & unlovable. This subject has been treated with a sensitivity unlike other books. Since biblical times, women were taught that they were making a choice to be a prostitute. One was expected to starve instead of selling what men were so happy to take. While most stories of prostitution do not have happy endings, our author gave one to Grace and David.
Recommended. Be aware that there are many sexual descriptions.
Circumstances have forced Grace to work as a prostitiute. Her madam sends her on a housecall which will change her life. I've read several of Beverley Oakley's novels, but this is the best. It's a very well done short story that is nicely wrapped up in the end. Nicely paced with surprises for Grace and the reader revealed bit by bit. There is explicit sex so if you don't like to read that, don't read this.
A short story with a handful of various characters. Grace, a prostitute not by choice, is hired as a special "21st birthday present" by a former employer who had thrown her out on the streets years before. David, the young man, has always remained Grace's one true love even though her life as an escort has changed her forever. If you'd like to see if Grace can truly have a Cinderella ending to her awful life, I suggest you read this book!
This was a book about mystery and intrigue. One young blind man about to learn the meaning of sex and how it was done by a woman who worked in a brothel. This was not by choice but by necessity as she had been raped by another man and had his child and lost it because she was not able to get help to save him She won her chance to be with the man she loved and moved on with her life. This was a free Arc read and this is my review and mine alone. Norma Gorrill.
This intriguing story circles around Grace's recognition of three people who changed her life. Grace had no intention of revealing her identity to David. However, her job to initiate him into his masculinity on his 21st birthday, exposed the deceptions behind her status as a Cyprian. Enjoy the irony.
