”you’re mine alone, the law recognizes that. don’t break the law.”

i have read a lot of danmei where the mc & ml walk around in their own little world constantly feeding everyone dog food but adrian yate & zhong yan truly take the cake. these two are absolutely VILE and DISGUSTING when they finally start to communicate. they really went around 24/7 being the most married couple to ever marry

i had a lot of fun reading this!!! there were some aspects with the pacing and plot at times but that’s more of a personal preference. the morally greyness of both the mc (zhong yan) & ml (adrian yate) made up for any things i was iffy plot wise. the sci-fi setting was really immersive!!! i was so envious that zhong yan and adrian were raising a GIANT SPACE BUNNY together

anyways, nmtd was angstier than i thought but it was also more fluffier than i thought. i had a fun time reading it despite the occasional knives the author threw around.

I've only ever read one other sci-fi danmei and that was 'Little Mushroom' and this is complete opposite of that...

It's very romance heavy and I got quite attached to Zhong Ahn (the politician ML) in particular. I started off hating Adrian Tate (the space commander ML) as he was started off as mean to Zhong Ahn but he grew on me and I liked them both in the end.

I found the 1st 1/2 quite addictive. I just couldn't read it fast enough. Sadly, everything slowed down after they accepted the marriage decree and started living it up as lovebirds. Then my interest drained away as the plot seemed to drag on.

I wish the world-building was a little more developed. We are meant to hate the AI 'Butterfuly' that controls society but I couldn't help but want to know why it was so bad. Were only ever told that there are cameras everywhere and they tell you who to marry and if you don't then you pay a fine.

If you want a fun sci-fi romcom danmei then I would recommend this as I did have a good time. However, if want excellent world building and high stakes with only little romance then read 'Little Mushroom'.

Was interested in this novel for the giant space bunnies then ended up really enjoying it! It was honestly slow at times but the fluff makes up for it. This had me smiling like crazy and kicking my legs. There are plenty of funny moments too that made me bust out laughing.

Status: Completed [e-reader]
Final rating: ★★★★☆ (4.0/5 — rounded up)

I started this danmei because of two things: the title and the themes — I’m a complete sucker for found family stories and BL marriages. Normally I stay away from sci-fi and mecha settings because they’re not my strong suit, but the premise sounded too intriguing to ignore. From the start, I knew I’d have to pay attention: the world is complex, full of interplanetary politics and class systems that take a bit to grasp.
The story is set in a futuristic galactic world divided into multiple planets and factions, with strong military, political, and technological hierarchies. People are sorted into different societal structures that govern everything — from relationships to warfare to how power is distributed. It’s dense, and even by the 70-chapter mark I still found myself lost in the mechanics of how everything fits together.

That said, it’s not a deal-breaker — the confusion almost feels intentional, mirroring how alienating the system is to the main characters themselves. The world is demanding and often cruel, forcing everyone into roles they can’t fully control.
Zhong Yan, the protagonist, is a morally gray anti-hero, intelligent yet emotionally scarred, whose decisions often blur the lines between logic and impulse.

What I looked forward to most was the reconciliation between Zhong Yan and Adrian — a moment of honesty and vulnerability where they could finally talk things through. Unfortunately, the story never quite gave that emotional release. Their reunion, following Zhong Yan’s stabbing while protecting Adrian, felt abrupt. It was a “good for them” moment, but it lacked the reflective pause I expected — no real conversation, no processing of the mess between them. By chapter 74, it already felt too late to meaningfully revisit that tension.

My reading journey was long. Between university and life, I stopped and started multiple times. When I returned after long breaks, the linear writing helped me slide back into the story without confusion, but the emotional grip loosened along the way. Sometimes I found myself reading just to finish, not because I was fully invested.

Zhong Yan’s intelligence and complexity were what drew me in at first, but some of his later choices puzzled me — oddly rash for someone so calculating. Still, his moral ambiguity and emotional restraint remained fascinating.

Finishing the book felt like a mix of relief and quiet frustration. The ending left me unsatisfied: not because it was bad, but because it felt rushed and emotionally flat, with some threads left hanging that I would’ve loved to see explored. After so many chapters of slow-burn tension and world-building, the conclusion didn’t land as deeply as it could have.

That said, No Money to Divorce still stands as a compelling story about duty, love, and survival in a structured, cold universe. It didn’t end the way I hoped, but the journey — especially Zhong Yan’s — was worth the effort.

"They we're finally moving forward to the rest of their lives in peace an happiness without obstructions"

What a good reading.

I like to mention that it's super refreshing when I encountered a truly anti-hero/morally gray MC, Zhong Yan, while his moral might not be on the right path, doesn't really wish misery upon others unless they're on his way. Or I could say he is more apathetic towards anything aside Adrian. If he has to kill for his goals and he will do so, such a character truly charming

On the other hand the ML, the basic justice warrior character design. I would say this actually makes the Hero x Villain kinda ship, the one you can say "the villain would sacrifice the world to save you"

I've seen some people think Adrian is very childish at how he act around Zhong Yan at early chapter. But reading further, you'll actually understand his point, as he also mentioned, he has a different standard when it comes to Zhong Yan before, thus why he felt betrayed, but you see how he come to learn to compromise and then to just give in, because his feelings are far more greater than his ideology he held for Zhong Yan.

I would just say it's kinda pity there's not enough of their domestic life. Regardless, this is a worth it reading

dnf at ch56.

It's too silly but not comedic enough to make it work. The plot is all over, and characters are not fleshed out well enough to bear the amount of drama that it intends to build up.

I actually would not mind the characters, I don't dislike them, but there is not enough detail to build an emotional connection with any of them. It just feels annoying. I wanted to like this, I am upset, lol. I feel like this story was bad enough that it made me go back to the work I was procrastinating on.

Great translation, which kept me going.

In overall, the storyline was good. I enjoyed the plot changes of ZY villainess throughout the story… and Adrian is a lovable character since the beginning… but what was that with The giant rabbit story? For my taste, it took way to much words in the book… half of it was pretty unnecessary information…

This was a surprisingly thoughtful romance novel. The setting was well-thought-out and the characters were richly developed (with the exception of perhaps some of the villains).

I quite enjoyed the political intrigue in this novel; it was very House of Cards-esque, if only Frank Underwood had a partner with a moral compass. I love how Zhong Yan doesn't wait and hope for the best -- he plots and strives using whatever means possible to get what he wants. Zhong Yan is very similar to the main character in Dexter (a TV series about a do-gooder serial killer), in that he's smart, brilliant at manipulating others, and doesn't care about the majority of mankind. However, he does care about Adrian, who in turn cares about humanity, and so acts in a way that brings about good. I loved reading about the development of the relationship between Adrian and Zhong Yan as they learn to come to accommodate each other's different opinions. They might not always agree, but they learn to move past that because they love each other. I really enjoyed how the painful misunderstandings at the beginning evolve into harmonious compromises.

There were many thought-provoking themes in the book, the primary of which is obviously the question of free will. Are centuries of peace worth humans giving up their free will? And what happens when the entity in control of all decision-making turns from benevolent to harmful? Like any dictatorship or oligarchy, the system works well whenever the leaders act in the best interest of their community, but what guarantees that these leaders or their successors won't get corrupted by the power they hold?

There's also a question of whether an AI will ever be able to understand humans with their unpredictable emotional biases. I thought it interesting that the AI government was portrayed as evil in this book, whereas a human government was portrayed as good. In my mind, a good AI-led government is probably as good as a good human one; and a bad AI-led government is probably just as bad as a bad human one. The main difference I guess is that it's easier imagining overthrowing a bad human-led government than an omnipotent AI-led one.

There are so many themes that this novel touches on. Whether motives matter if the end result is good. The importance of dissent in monitoring and identifying corruption in the establishment. How an elite education isn't just for the academic knowledge, but the community of intellectual peers it fosters. And of course, the magical luck and cuteness of space bunnies.

English title: No money to divorce

This was a very pleasant surprise for me. Actually I wasn't planning to read it now but it caught my attention randomly one day so I said why not.

It's very short (in danmei terms) but very enjoyable. I loved the pining in the beginning, Zhong Yan's personality caught me by surprise because I thought he'd be very cold, the kind to hide his emotions. But no, it was actually very obvious that he was affected by Adrian's attitude towards him.

Honestly, I can't blame either of them for what happened in the past and I really enjoyed their dynamic too. Zhong Yan is the type who'd burn down the world for his beloved and Adrian, although he actually has love for humanity, would still do anything for ZY.

Even the SF part didn't scare me off, I was actually hooked at the end. I was also scared that the finale would be ridiculous, as I saw in many books but although not perfect, it was definitely good. Oh, and it's a HE.

It's not a perfect 5⭐, more like a 4.50-4.75⭐ /5.

A cute m/m romance with a sci-fi but low-key setting. Non-explicit. It avoids many of the typical issues in danmei, such as heteronormative gender roles and one character being over effeminate in behavior. Two and a half stars because there's some lack of character development and the writing seems pretty bland in translation, but this is much better than the average translated danmei.
