After I caught my boyfriend cheating, I tried to be mature about it with an amicable split. But he took his retaliation too far, and I have officially had enough. No more Miss Nice Haven.

No one is allowed to lie to me, betray, embarrass, and devastate me, fill me with self-doubt, or put my future at risk, and expect to get away with it. He is going to feel my wrath.

Enter Wick Webster, his archenemy.

Nothing would provoke my ex more than to see me moving on with the one guy he hates most, so that’s exactly what I plan to do.

The only hitch in my brilliant scheme is Wick himself. He’s just gotta be all love-not-war and peace-is-the-only-way. He’s more concerned about helping me heal than seeking my sweet revenge.

And what the hell is it about his soothing presence and yummy looks that calls to me until I forget how much pain I’m in? He’s making it awfully hard to use and abuse him for my malicious means. The damn guy is making me fall for him.

Bad doesn’t even begin to describe this.

h’s bf cheats on her and later H lets it slip that he knows about his cheating and he knows he had done it in the past too. When the h gets mad at him for not telling her he tells her for all he knows she’s aware of it plus how would he know she would want to know about this?

Later we find out that the bf got into the relationship with h solely to hurt H, made a sex tape of the h and made the H watch and cheated regularly on the h to hurt the H knowing it would hurt him if he mistreated the h. So the things he claimed on the previous paragraph is an out and out lie. he DID know h wasn’t aware of it. He DID know h was being emotionally abused by the bf, he DID know h would have support if he speaks up and extends his support and leave this Abusive relationship behind. He does nothing. He sits back for three years. Watches the bf emotionally abuse and cheat on the h. Goes and loses his virginity to someone else.

The h is SO dim and since she NEVER met a decent person boyfriend or girlfriend wise that she’s overlooking the fact that it is in fact the H’s fault that she was abused, and forgives him refusing to accept his share of blame. No, his fault was not that he didn’t approach her first, or let the bf bully him. His fault is that he enabled the bully. A boyfriend who records their girlfriend’s sexual act without their consent is an abuser. Making them delete it is just sweeping it under the rug. How does he know he hadn’t done it again? His fault is his silence and unwillingness of protecting someone he claimed he loved.

This sends incredibly wrong message about forgiveness, bullying, and courage. And on top of it, it was not engaging writing and was terribly wrong.

The h needed to acknowledge the H’s fault and move on by herself. Get a job, get into couple of relationship and may be revisit this in 10 years when the H is capable of being a man instead of the boy he is.

Another minus point, this is terribly YA, I didn’t realise that from the blurb.

Blurb is also kinda misleading, she never really tried to use him for revenge, he never discouraged her either. I have a feeling the author doesn’t understand her own book and failed to summarise it herself.

”You can’t fix me. No one can. Only I can find my way back to the light”
“Well…”
I glanced around the kitchen before coming back to shrug at her once more. ”Then I’ll just stay with you in the dark and keep you company until you do.”

”THE REVENGE PLAN” is the latest installment of the ”Forbidden Men” series by Linda Kage and I’m wondering why I haven’t read all of the books yet. I absolutely loved ”Price of a Kiss” and couldn’t believe that so much time has passed that Mason and Reese have a niece old enough to be in her senior year of college. This story is a new adult, “friends-to-lovers” romance with enough angst to put your heart through emotional turmoil, but it’s completely worth it!! Wickham Webster is one hell of a swoon-worthy Hero. Once the story unfolds there is no doubt that readers are going to fall head over heels in love with him.

Haven Gamble catches her boyfriend in the act of cheating on her with her roommate. This sends her into an emotional tailspin and the one person who comes to her rescue is her boyfriend’s arch nemesis and fellow teammate on the football team. Wick and Topher have had a feud going on for years and only a handful of people know the true origin of their rivalry. I thought Haven’s reaction to Topher’s betrayal was a little extreme, but I get that it helped to develop the connection between her and Wick. The two end up being roommates and as time goes on a connection blossoms, one that seems to be so right and as if it was always meant to be.

Interspersed within the story are several chapters titled ”Hopeless Henry”. It’s an ongoing fictional story that posts weekly in the college newspaper. At first, I didn’t know what to make of these chapters, but as I got further into the plot, the puzzle pieces started to fit. I like what Linda Kage did there!!

Here are my overall ratings:

Heroes: 5++++++
Heroine: 4
Plot: 4.5
Angst: 4.5
Steam: 4
Chemistry Between Hero & Heroine: 5

”THE REVENGE PLAN” is currently available. It’s the perfect summer read! I am sure if you haven’t read the other books in the series, you’ll end up wanting to get to them all! I know I went and one-clicked a bunch of them!!

I love Linda Kage’s books so much, and I couldn’t wait to get back into her ‘Forbidden Men’ series. Haven, the heroine of this story, is the daughter of Sarah and Brandt. Their book was one of my favorites of that series so I was so excited to jump into this one. Though it wasn’t my favorite of hers, I still enjoyed it.

The Revenge Plan starts out with Haven catching her boyfriend of three years cheating on her with her roommate. It’s an ugly scene and she runs straight into Wick. Wick is a great guy, but happens to be her ex’s archenemy. Still, Haven is in a pinch and having no where to live, she becomes Wick’s roommate. Things get a little tricky from there.

Wick Webster is a fabulous hero. I truly did adore him. But I feel like at times, he let Haven walk all over him. She was fine, and grew on me by the end… but there was a lot of the book she annoyed me some. Even though I was sympathetic to all she went through, I didn’t love her immaturity.

There was sort of a side story of Hopeless Henry tied in to this one, and I really enjoyed this aspect of the story. At first, I had no clue why this was being thrown in, but a little past half way I was able to connect the dots and that little twist was probably my favorite part of the story.

I listened to the audio book, and this is one of those times I think I would have rather read it then listened to it. The narration was okay, but it wasn’t great. The narrators didn’t sound like I imagined Haven and Wick would sound.

If you’re looking for a new adult romance with a bit of drama that’s friends to lovers, and is fast paced this may be the book for you. Even though there were a few things that didn’t jive with me, there was also a lot I loved! I hope Kage writes more spin offs from the ‘Forbidden Men’ series because seeing the family members was such a treat!

I really love Linda Kage's Forbidden Men series and when I started this book, I had no idea that this was a spin-off of sorts. You see Haven is Sarah and Brandt's daughter, and damn if that fact doesn't make me giddy like a little girl !!!!

I loved Sarah and Brandt, they were awesome and I can honestly say that Haven definitely inherited their wonderful traits. She sure as hell is just as strong...well, Sarah might be a tad bit stronger :P

But that is nothing compared to Wick's traits. OMG, I loved that man the moment I set my eyes on him (in my mind..you should see him...he is so HOT). He was so deliciously funny, we should all be blessed with a man like that.

Now this book is long...but it didn't feel long to me. Maybe that's because I was so freaking happy to be back into the world of some of my favorite characters again. I wasn't bored for a second. I just got pulled into the story from the very first page and there was nothing I could do but finish it. I like my books to be a bit on the longer side. That way I feel like I actually have a chance, to get to know the characters. There is also something about this author's writing style that really does it for me.

I can only hope that there will be more books like this to follow. I would love for all the offspring to get their own book...

Now I think it's re-read time again, because I really do miss my "Forbidden Men".

I absolutely love Linda Kage and since this is a spin off from my favourite Forbidden Men series I just had to read this as soon as it was released.

Wick is a 'Beta' male and I suppose I'd describe Haven as a pretty strong female lead. For me, it was a great dynamic and I loved these 2 together ❤️

When Haven finds herself homeless after being cheated on, the pair end up as roommates and a friendship begins.

Roomates to friends to lovers, a new adult college sports romance that was such an entertaining read.

Not rating this one, because I skimmed the majority of it.

It’s extremely long. Extremely predictable after a certain point. If you like long and drawn out combined with slow burn, then you will definitely enjoy this read. I however didn’t feel the connection between the characters, so I wasn’t invested enough. If you like the characters after the first 10 chapters, then you will probably love this book. The voices of the dialogue and inner monologue just started to irk me around chapter 12, so I knew that I wouldn’t make it. Started to skim through, and it was ok at best.

So no rating.

At about a quarter in, I'm done. This book has the weakest idea of sprucing up flashbacks, ever, and they paint Wick really, really poorly. The stupid flashback gimmick is to have a different, but obviously parallel story (like it's marching band instead of football team, for example). Only the "Henry" sections are so ploddingly written and the Henry character is such a naïve and gormless idiot that I cringe every time I get to another one of these stupendously bad expository maunderings. This puling coward has to be cajoled and tricked into trying for positions he's suited for and can't be bothered to even find out the name of the girl he's crushing on and practically faints the one time he interacts with her in actual person. Seriously, get this kid a psychologist or mentor or something because he's painfully immature and needs some life coping skills, stat.

That Wick is being openly compared to this hopeless twit is destroying my engagement with the story. That he has the same failings is obvious and I just can't even take any more of his fumbling around. The author manipulates this so that his "dream girl" develops an emotional attachment in a trying moment and then thrusts them together with some unlikely developments. Which means that Wick hasn't grown at all in the years since he was the "Henry" analog. This might, might, have worked if we could see a grown-up or more mature version who had learned to overcome his cowardice and make a play for the dream girl. But no. It's all "fate" that's going to force this story to progress and that's just stupid. I don't want him to win the girl. He's still a milquetoast weenie and I don't care that he's some great jock because he's a pencil-necked geek in every way that matters.

So I am a really huge fan of Linda's Forbidden Men series. Like obsessively fan girl kind of fan. But with everything going on in my life I somehow missed this book sneaking up on me. But as I sat down and read the first chapter I knew it and I was stressing out that I had already read it somehow until I realised it was a teaser in a previous read and my little goldfish brain clued in to how obsessed I had been over that teaser way way back when that I still remembered it almost word for word and then I was even more excited to read this.

But OMG did I mention how much is going on in our damn real life trying to drag me away from reading. All I wanted to do was hide in a corner and read this book but somehow it took me three days of it being constantly on my mind. And that's after I clued in to Helpless Henry after the third installment.

Honestly Haven and Wick were just everything. They are the epitome of new adult college romance leading characters. Wick is the best book boyfriend ever. And poor Haven managing to be so kick arse after her massive acehole ex-boyfriend and everything he put them through. Just sigh.

And of course the secondary characters were perfect. And I loved the tiny little snippets of the Forbidden Men family through this because even though we didn't get nearly enough of them (let's be honest there probably never could be enough of them) we still got enough to make us all think of them and let out dreamy sighs.

So yeah this book was perfect. It was nothing like the Forbidden Men series but naturally it has the same amazing writing and perfect characters and I loved it to pieces. And to be honest I don't know if i want more Forbidden Men offspring or some Cannon or maybe one of Wicks sisters or Linda could just get busy and get to work on all of the above please and thank you.

Side note how beautiful is that cover?

I guess to sum up this book is awesome and if you like New Adult, college romance one click this now and dive on in. And if you're new to Linda Kage, crawl out from under your rock and get reading.

Er mahhh GHHHEERRDDD I love Linda. Was this her best? No. That belongs to Price of a Kiss (MASON!!!!). But-at worst-I know when I pick up one of her books, I'm going to get a beautiful, amazing, sometimes-but-not-always tortured male lead, a lot of unnecessary (yet I need and crave it from THIS author?) drama, and a lot of dialogue that will crack me up because...really? Lol. Yeah, no. Convos don't really happen like that....but I dig them so hard.

And Wick?? My God. The PERFECT BBF. AND-the way this story was woven together? It was so odd...but then when it actually CONNECTED? I couldn't help but lose my breath and just die a little at how cute it was. Like...ugh. My heart. Cheesy but...I loved it.

Maybe more review to come, maybe not :)

The Revenge Plan
Harper & Wick

So here I am excited to read a full novel from one of the kids in the Forbidden Men Series. After reading The Price of Mason I was really curious on what's going on with their lives.

And now we get to meet Harper which I didn't like much. I really understand wanting to be independent but the way she was adamant about it didn't sit well with me. I also didn't like her OTT reactions 😕. I was really looking forward to her revenge, but got disappointed til the very end😕. Their story was also dragged too long. Good thing we have Harper's cousins and Wick's sisters that helps liven up the story.

All in all it was just okay, truly sad for giving it low rating.😣

I wanted to love this book. I wanted to love it so much! I was so excited when I heard that Linda Kage had a new book coming out, and when I learned that it was a spin-off from the Forbidden Men series, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. I was so ready to fall in love with it, but it just didn’t work for me. There was so much about it that didn’t work, and I feel like it was a marathon to even finished it (at 500+ pages, that’s not far off), but finish it I did and now I need to sort through my feels, because I have a lot of them.

Haven is the daughter of Brandt and Sarah from Priceless (one of my fave couples of the Forbidden Men series, and a 5-star read). She’s a senior in college and is gearing up for graduation when she walks in on her boyfriend and her roommate having wild hot sex on her couch. It sends her running, and she literally runs right into Wick Webster, the campus good guy and the sworn enemy of her boyfriend. Wick immediately steps up to protect Haven, and by the end of the night she ends up renting a room in his apartment, setting them up to develop a close friendship with a special connection as the good guy tries to help Haven move on.

“You can’t fix this.” She shook her head as if I made no sense. “You can’t fix me. Not one can. Only I can find my way back to the light.”
“Well” … “Then I’ll just stay with you in the dark and keep you company until you do.”

Their friendship is complicated by Wick’s longstanding feelings for Haven, and Haven’s growing attraction to him. It’s no surprise how the story is going to end up, but in the meantime, Haven is determined to reclaim her life and get back at the boy who shattered her so completely.

“The best way to get back at him would be to just move on and be happy.”

It should be a gorgeous friends-to-lovers romance, but I found myself unable to connect to either Haven or Wick, or their romance. I think it all stems from the fact that I found the characters to be really overly cliched.

Haven is overly naïve and hyper emotional. The sight of her boyfriend having sex with her roommate sends her into a catatonic state where she is pretty much a vegetable except for clinging to Wick (up until that point, a stranger) and wailing every time he attempts to separate himself, which seemed a bit much. And her innocence and victimisation is played up too much – after three years of a relationship she still believes that once men hit a certain point in foreplay, they have to keep going otherwise they’ll be in pain. I mean, this is a 21-year-old senior in college. Really?

Wick is an absolute sweetheart. He’s sweet, kind, gentle and understanding, but the way he moons over the heroine and the way he is so struck dumb by her that he won’t stand up for himself (or for her when he knows she is being mistreated) makes him come off like a bit of a victim himself. He does have moments where he shows his strength, which I enjoyed, I just needed some more of it.

And Topher, the bad guy. Damn. Could this guy get any more evil? His cruelty and viciousness is appalling, with every word and action taken to the extreme . Again, really?

The epic moment of disbelief at these characters for me was this squick-enducing effort –

The story of ‘Hopeless Henry’, a fictional character whose story is published in the college newsletter is interspersed through the chapters. At first I was completely confused, but by the time the second one comes along I had figured out the link and it actually adds a lot of depth to the book. I’m not sure how I feel about this and the way it was done, but I guess Kage was going for something a little bit different, and she kind of made it work.

In addition to seeing Haven’s parents, Brandt and Sarah, there’s a whole troop of cousins to get to know. If you haven’t read the Forgotten Men series, you would be completely lost trying to tie the families in together - I’ve read them and I still got lost as it was all clumsily explained, but the cameos were a treat. And with Wick’s best friend, Cannon, and his fantastic sisters all shining in their scenes, I’m guessing that this book may go on to become its own series. We shall see.

So yeah. Disappointing that this book didn’t really do it for me. I’m seeing a lot of love for it though, which is great, and I’m still looking forward to reading more from this author.

A very sad 2 stars. It was just ok.

Estás en mi sangre. En mi alma. Eres solo... eres mi Refugio..

The revenge plan de Linda Kage, libro 1 serie Webster Siblings

Izzy, Darcy y Charlie me hicieron reír mucho.

To be completely honest, when I finished this I decided 2 stars would be a fitting rating, however now that I'm reviewing it and doing a little more thinking about it, I don't feel like it deserves even a fraction beyond 1 star.

First off let me get the writing out of the way. It was dull, very melodramatic, and extremely over the top. The 3 POVs also were very similar in tone and even in phrasing at times they were basically the same voice. And I feel like the author didn't think the whole Henry part through, because yes I get that Lizzy had access to her brother's messages an email accounts, but who would really write in such detailed explicit way about every single tiniest thing going on in three years of their life in emails and messages?

Let's not forget about the blurb; to say it was misleading will be putting it mildly. I was waiting for this kickass heroine and brilliant revenge scheming, and even a bit of fake dating maybe, but there was no talking about a revenge plan until the 20th chapter--pretty much the whole first half of the book, then it took the back seat again for most of the rest. Not to mention that Haven sorely lacked all backbone and brain cells and was too immersed in self-pity to be able to plot any revenging. Really, "Pity Party" is a way more fitting title than "Revenge Plan".

Now, on to the hero. Oh, that coward fuckup. As much as the author tried to over angelize him (I don't think that's a real word but it's necessary here), he was a villain and a liar by omission, and he shouldn't be that easily let off the hook. you most definitely don't destroy it because that's called enabling a lowlife to get away not only with bullying, but with a serious crime as well. You're a damn college senior, you should know better.

I know I am having a serious case of rambling here, but the way the author mistreated such serious stuff seriously grated on my nerves. So a single pathetic star it is.

Gah! I loved this book. Love it!

I love books that have a huge family built throughout a series and then you meet more and more. While this is a standalone, we do meet the daughter of one of the beloved Forbidden Series couples, Brandt and Sarah!

This book was beautiful and at times crazy and hilarious. I love, love, love characters whose passion comes off the pages and you can feel Wick's passion. I also love women who don't let others push them around and take life by the horns, even if it's hard and it hurts. Perfect combo in The Revenge Plan.

This book had me laughing out loud, yelling at the characters and stupidity, and getting so mad at how the world works and how awful people can be. But it also had me swooning so hard and smiling even harder at how loyal the families we make through blood and choice can be.

One thing and the best way to explain without spoiling it... When you look at the table of contents, you see there is 3 POVs and at first I was like, what? But do not be alarmed. Once you figure it out, you'll be in awe and then you'll be laughing and proud and blown away at the loyalty of family that comes from it.

Another fantastic read from Linda Kage! I look forward to the next one she brings to us!

1 Estrellas.

POSIBLES SPOILER.

I could but I refuse to hate - read this book.

Not even the moment when she learns that

I really loved this book, Sarah and Brandts story was my favourite of all the Forbidden Men, so getting to read their daughters story was excellent. So many moments when i wanted to yell at characters about what they were doing or saying, and holding my breath hoping things weren't all about to go horribly wrong. Such a great read, already looking forward to the next one.

Well, this is not what I expected at all, in the best way! This was my first book by the author and I went in thinking I knew what was going to happen from the blurb, but honestly, the book became so much more emotional and moving than I had thought. I couldn’t put the book down at all. I stayed up way too late so I could finish it in one sitting. It’s a super slow burn college romance with a bit of a roommates to more trope.

Haven walks in on her boyfriend with her roommate, and immediately takes off running and runs straight into Wick, her boyfriend's enemy. He goes way beyond what is expected to help her, and their friendship starts. Wick was amazing. He was quiet, sweet, but protective. Wick's family was fantastic. I loved all the scenes with his sisters! Haven was strong, independent and had to change a lot throughout the book. She did have a flair for the dramatic but you definitely can understand why.

There is an added element of Hopeless Henry’s story. I thought this part was super creative and not what you expect at all and I loved it! There are quite a few characters. I think many of them were from the author’s previous books, but as a newcomer to the author, I had no idea who these people were and was pretty confused in their scenes with the main characters.

This book was a wonderful surprise and something I truly enjoyed. I don’t think I’ll get these characters out of my head for a long time. Highly recommend!

* I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I don't know how to write this review.

I love the forbidden men series beyond anything. Linda Kage became my most favourite authors of all time. And I waited 6 months for this book to come out.

When I read the teaser in Price of Mason I just knew I had to read this. I just knew it was going to be epic.

And then I finally got the book. I cleared my whole day to just sit back and read this book without any interruptions. I...was loving it so much I was overjoyed. I couldn't wait to finish it and give it a five star review and claim it as my best book EVER. I freaking fell in love with Wick Webster within the first chapter.

I didn't expect to be this hurt or disappointed as the story progressed. I wanted more. More from the female character. More from the male character. More from the plot dammit! After chapter 10 it just...stopped being amazing.
I am crying miserably at how much it hurt to see my favourite book going downhill as it continued.

To understand why I didn't love it:
The main plot base was interesting as hell (and terribly heartbreaking). I loved how things went on till about the tenth chapter I guess. Then I just wanted more. I wanted more chemistry between them. More meaningful moments between them. Hell the build up of their love. I didn't feel the love between them. I didn't understand the love between them. I felt disconnected from both the characters.

I have to admit. I am not a fan of the female character in the book. I was not overly fond of her in the beginning but it just got worse as the book goes on. I was loving Wick from the beginning and then that too slowly lost its charm. Somewhere along the way all I could think about was Wick deserved better.
I just .. something was off about the story. I can't really put my finger on it. It was turning out to be epic but suddenly just toppled off and hit the bottom.

I hate that I couldn't love it like I wanted to. Maybe I had too much of built up expectations about the greatness of this book. I don't know.
I love Linda Kage and I'm really looking forward to reading her next book truly hoping to read one that becomes my next favourite.

(It's just my view. Other readers may not feel the same so please do read and figure it out if this book is for you)

The Revenge Plan is the first full length novel in the "Descendants" series by this author. I have had this one on my kindle for a while and I was eager to get to this one. Especially lately I have been working on the novellas for this series. I just love this whole Forbidden Men world that this author has created. Its so entertaining. This book was a bit different than I was expecting. I really found the major plot with the hero and heroine to be so superb. I just adored the way that these two are together. And we see how they just fit together. There is some revenge aspects that build between these two. I love a good revenge plot, and this one was so well done.

So basically the set up of this one is where the heroine walks in on her boyfriend having sex with her roommate. She she runs off and finds haven with her ex boyfriend's nemesis on the football team, and through a course of events, they become roommates. But even though his friends think its a mistake for him to build anything with Haven. But as Wick and Haven really bond together and find their path to each other, some secrets of the past become revealed and their relationship will become more deeper than either of them would have expected.

I really found this one so interesting. There is a backstory that I would say you want to stick with it, I know at first it makes no sense, but trust me, as the story progresses, you will see later in the story how it connects so deeply to the main storyline with Wick and Haven. I absolutely adored it. It just added so much more to Wick and Haven's story. I really loved the way that Linda Kage built this story. It gets a bit wild with some of the revenge aspects, but in the end, the villain gets the justice he deserves.

Overall I became so satisfied with how this one played out and I can't wait to see what the author delivers with these books!

Finaly, a story worthy of her early "Forbidden Men" books. And plus, it has a story within the story which was a bonus and had me guessing of it's purpose till the very end.
Far-fetched at times but a non-stop reading kind of book.
I loved the Hero but the heroine came out a bit naive and immature.

Copy provided by the authors in exchange for an honest review

I need to say that I love the cover, it's the kind of cover that I find myself drawn to.
I kind of feel that the title is not very accurate here, I mean, technically it wasn't like a major revenge plan, so... I don't know.
I truly have mix feelings about the whole plot. I loved Wick in those first chapters, he seemed so protective and bad-ass at the same time, and he kind of was throughout the book, but in some cases, he was so... weak.
It had been a long time since I read a book with so much drama. I mean, the characters didn't have a break, it was events after events. Quite overwhelming, I wasn't prepared for that.
