Lacy Williams wishes her writing career was more like what you see on Hallmark movies: dreamy brainstorming from a French chateau or a few minutes at the computer in a million-dollar New York City penthouse. In reality, she’s up before the sun, putting words on the page before her kids wake up for the day. Those early-morning and late-night writing sessions add up, and Lacy has published fifty books in almost a decade, first with a big five publisher and then as an indie author. More a draft of a story, than an actual story, it moved along a little too quick to be believable. But, it was cute, if quick. Right up to the Epilogue. Which I assume, in retrospect, is to introduce the next book. But, at the time I finished the book, it just left me scratching my head. All-in-all, I gave it 3 stars, average. Not great, not terrible, just average.
The Crown Prince needed to get over his brother running off with his fiancé. The Queen has hired a matchmaker to get him back to dating. What happens when the Prince falls for the matchmaker? This book was a cute quick read but could have benefited from another round of editing.
I’m not sure that this is could be a Cowboy Fairytale. Not a Cowboy in sight. There was instead a prince and a matchmaker trying to find a suitable date for the Prince which was to lead to marriage. As expected the two were attracted to each other. Very predictable.
The Epilogue of this book leaves the reader without the tidy wrap-up today's romance readers have come to expect. Rather it is actually a preview of the next book in the series. I seriously hope this was an error that will be corrected, because IMHO it was a very cheap trick unworthy of Lacy Williams.
The story is short and the epilogue introduces the next princess. The queen's son had a broken engagement and now should be looking for a spouse, according to his mom. He's not interested.
