Is it ever a good idea to dig up the past? When a member of the Historical Society is murdered, there’s no magical cause to be found. If anything, it seems like it might be a case of simple revenge. But when the society goes on to unveil an old, forgotten school in Riddler’s Edge, it seems that there could be far more to the murder than meets the eye. Riddler’s Edge School for the Gifted was a safe haven for supernatural children. So why was the school set on fire in the sixties? And why has it been forgotten until now? In order to find the real murderer, Ash and the gang must first find the surviving students. Along the way, they might just dig up some more secrets, too – like who is really behind the group known as Vlad’s Boys? And until they find the answers, they have a wedding to organise, a wedding that almost everyone believes is doomed …

She loves reading in every genre, but writing cozy mysteries is just about the most fun she's had in a decade.

I thought I loved the first few books, but these last books have been even better! Its like the mysteries and the storyline just keep getting better and better as you go! I can already sense that I'm going to be incredibly sad to come to the end of this series.
This series is just so good. I would read this series from book one but each book concludes. I'm American and I'm not crazy about series set outside the U.S. but this series is exceptionally good in the cozy genre. Aisling (not sure how to pronounce) or Ash is a mixture of fairy and witch is a local newspaper reporter but she often helps Dylan, a police detective and her boyfriend, with cases. Dylan isn't the whiny overprotective boyfriend but let's Ash take care of herself. This is series has been proofread for errors where I've found none that's very rare. Old School Witch is the perfect mixture of mystery and humor. Now, I must impatiently wait for the next book.
A great read that opens up the way for more mayhem and disaster. Okay I did twig who the one of the baddies was very early on but it was still a pot full of twists and turns that kept you guessing. Although the 'right' people were seriously outgunned it does make you wonder what they can do to upset their power level to make an even playing field. A car boot sale leads to murder, a ghost familiar, a memory spell being lifted and a big ego trip. Can our heroes work out why a memory spell was worked in the first place? What place do the vampires have in the scheme of things? All the while whilst trying to organise a wedding and carry on a normal life. Will they be able to fight it?
Okay, I put off reading this not because I didn't want to read it, but because I desperately wanted to...does that make sense. I'm so glad I put it off until #7 came out. The suspense would have made me crazy. I so dislike unfinished stories. Yes, it wrapped with a solution, but the overarching story was so close I could taste it. In some areas I felt a little drag, but it was just enough to let me pause, read another book, and come back to it reenergized. It was so worth it because once I was done I needed #7 right away.
I love the world-building and consistent use of magic in this series; it IS a paranormal cozy, after all! I'm also enjoying these quirky, delightful characters and the well managed situations. The author has cleverly switched things up, so now there are new questions, such as why was her grandfather so determined to lure Aisling to town, where does she fit in with Vlad's Boys' plans, and is it coincidental that Pru and Jared alone have power? Wondering about the end game has me completely absorbed with these mysteries and eager for "A Little Bit Vampy!"
I have been entertained for hours with the series set not just in riddlers cove, but in the adjoining town too. A twist I didn’t expect and the usual people struggling to help. A vampire wedding, a forgotten school and dead children back in the 60s. Looking forwards to the next book!
Characters are very interesting and the plots are really planted in the witch world with humans usually clueless. Should be read in order to grasp relationships and plot lines.
Will they or won't they? Our and Jared don't want their parents to get married again, but they seem determined to go through with it. Plot twists lead to a good ending.
Surprises around every corner and evil lurking an excellent show of power on both sides but is it amazing to see who actually wins this round! Read and find out!
This story was somewhat darker than some of the others in this series. It is building up to a big finale in the final book, but this one ended on a cliffhanger.
This book was unsettling and disturbing. A little too dark with a tinge of horror story it for my tastes. I prefer books that are light, funny, heartwarming with romance mixed in. After reading this 6th book, I've realized that this series just isn't for me. I don't like the way I feel after finishing the book.
In my review of book 5, I stated that The Fishermen's Friend should be burned to the ground. My reasoning was because the bad guys in two different books in this series had done it. I even snarked at the author about it. Then in this book, the author has Aisling speculate that the place is cursed due to the above. WELL PLAYED! I had a small internal laugh over this.
This is a well-written book with well-developed characters. The plot was interesting. The reason why it's not a higher rating for me is because I didn't like the way I felt after finishing the book. I felt pensive and down. I hated the ending. HATED. THE. ENDING. The part at the "wedding from hell".
