His wolf is out of control. She’s a wild thing that won’t be tamed.
Ex-Army Specialist Jace River has a lock on his bedroom door, but it’s not to keep anyone out; it’s to keep his nightmares from breaking loose. His wolf is an out-of-control killer, which means he can never risk shifting, never truly be part of his pack, and definitely never take a mate.

Piper Wilding works for the Army as a civilian, traveling the world for her work in counterintelligence and fighting the bad guys while bedding down the good ones. The best part? It keeps her far from her asshole father in Seattle, the rest of the Wilding pack, and the pressure to take a mate. Settling down isn’t her thing, and after what happened to her mother, Piper vowed she would never be tied down by magic or men again.

While Jace’s wolf keeps him Sleepless in Seattle, Piper returns home to find her missing kid brother. When she breaks into the River brothers' safehouse, sparks fly and claws come out. Her sexy skills threaten to bring out Jace’s wolf, and Jace’s good-guy hotness reminds Piper how tempting shifter men can be. They’re like fire and gasoline, and as they race to find Piper’s brother, the heat threatens to burn down all their carefully constructed walls. But falling in love has never been so dangerous—and being together means taking risks that neither might survive.

RECOMMENDED: Read Jaxson (Riverwise Private Security 1) FIRST! Jace is a complete novel with HEA, the second in the Riverwise Private Security trilogy (all standalone stories, but best enjoyed if you read them in order!).

ARC received for review

Great continuation from Jaxson's HEA ended. The search for Agent Smith continues.

Jace and Piper were just great. There's a whole lot of insta-lust and insta-love...I mean they've only known each other like "six minutes". Lots of action, suspense, and hot sex.

Now what's Jared's story? I wanna know more about Piper's brothers and Owen.

Ok so this was good. At least a 3 or maybe even 3.5 stars. But I am at a total loss. Something happened at the end of the book that I found so disgusting that I am unsure if I should rate this book or just leave unrated.

For those interested

Jace

description

Enjoying this series and it's ultimate bad guys! Sexy shifter Jace falls hard for a female that has sworn to never take a mate.

Piper's a ho that never sleeps with decent men and has never known a good man. She guards her heart until she meets Jace and can't resist the pull.

This series is full of action with sexy shifters. Also, these books should be read in order.

SPOILERS!
Had been looking forward to this story but was really disappointed. Not with the actual plot, though it was a tad predictable, what WASN'T predictable was the bestiality scene near the end of the book!!!! I really wished I had read some reviews before purchasing. Totally ruined the whole book for me and seriously turned me off this author. I can't honestly give a higher review as I feel that strongly about it.
I understand books about shifters (and I've seriously read a lot) deal with a humans "animal" side, but what should NEVER be acceptable is for a human to give an animal a bj, I don't honestly care that there is a human side in the wolf somewhere!!! Nope and NOPE! Totally different when two animals (or shifters) to get it on while in animal form, not that I want a detailed description of that (I could watch a documentary for that) but "mating" happens when shifted, NOT a human and a animal. Its really hard to say anything else about this book as this is a huge issue for me.
What has me worried is I purchased book 3 at the same time as this one, I really hope she doesn't go there again. I'll read it because I brought it...

I enjoyed this story; I knew going in Jace was probably going to be my favorite because I really liked him in the first book. His past tortures him and this book we see more of this but also we see him merge from the past. I love books like that.
Piper is a pretty strong female lead which I also love she knows what she wants and she isn’t going to let anyone stop her. She is on a mission to find her brother and nothing is going to stop her.

Their relationship progressed so nicely it wasn’t instalove which I know sometime shifter books like to do. This was a lot smoother at least it was for me.

I really liked this narration I want more like it. I think both narrators did a great job, I would listen to them both again.

The first book was good, but this one was even better. It had my attention from start to finish and I had so much fun reading about Jace and Piper. While this book features a new couple, we still get to see the characters from book one as well and this book continues the suspense plot line that was set-up in book one and will probably continue in the next one as well. I thought this worked really well and it gives the series a good sense of continuity even with the focus shifting to another couple.

Jace and Piper are so good together. I really liked reading about these two. From that first slightly awkward scene at the start were they meet that showed their personalities till the satisfying scene at the end. These two were a lot of fun to read about and they were really good together. While the romance develops fast that didn't bother me as I certainly felt their romance and I liked them together. There's no unnecessarily drama and I liked seeing them open up to each other share their secrets and help each other deal with things.

Jace has a wolf that's out of control and goes wild when he shifts, so he doesn't. He can't submit to his alpha and he can't take a mate and sleeps with a lock on his bedroom. He's a good guy who cares about his family and when Piper shows up he wants to help and believes her intuition that something is wrong. Like Piper says he's a good guy through and through.

Piper is used to being alone and trusting only herself. She could run off a bit hot headed, but her heart was on the right spot and while it might seem reckless, she did think things through and knew what she was doing most of the time. She cares deeply for her brother Noah and when he goes missing, she has to find him no matter what it takes. Which is how she lands at the River pack safe house and meets Jace. Piper has had a bad childhood and it was heartbreaking to read what she has gone through. She has build a wall around her, not allowing anyone to get close. And it was amazing to see Jace slowly break down that wall and see her open up to him and then help him as well. These two got the best out of each other and I liked seeing them figure it all out and work together.

We get a bit more of a grip on the world here and it was interesting to see the suspense plot line continue about someone's who's capturing shifters. We learn a few new pieces here, but I am sure we haven't seen the last of them yet. There are some interesting revelations towards the end. Although I had hoped we would learn why Jace his wolf was so big as that never got explained. But maybe that's a piece that get revealed later.

To summarize: I really enjoyed reading this book! I really liked this couple and seeing them help and heal each other and deal with their respective secrets. They were both great characters with depth and personality and I I loved them together. Alisa Woods really knows how to write a great paranormal romance, this book has a solid story, great characters, shifting, romance and even a bit of a suspense storyline thrown in. The suspense storyline was set-up in the first book and I think it will continue in the next one as well. We get to see the couple from the first book again as well, which was fun. All in all I can't wait to read book 3 and see how it wraps this series up!

3.5/5 stars. (RabidReads.com)Second in the River Pack Wolves series, Jace is the story of Jace Rivers, a wolf shifter who’s wolf is out of control. Because of this, he tries to never shift due to the havoc that ensues when that happens. When Piper Wilding of the Wilding Wolf Pack sneaks into his mother’s estate and he catches her, both him and his wolf sit up and pays attention.

I first met Jace in book one, Jaxson, and become interested in him, as I was with all the brothers. I wanted to see how he would get his happily ever after due to his unruly/scary/huge wolf. He has vowed to never mate because he doesn’t want to ever put someone in danger from his wolf. Piper wasn’t featured in the first book, but I immediately liked her character. She’s a counter-intelligent agent posted abroad for the U.S. army. She’s also the black sheep of the Wilding family, is beautiful, and vows she will never mate. After meeting Jace, those best laid plans really come into question for her. And for him as well.

Shifters are going missing. The River Pack has been on the case since it was first noticed in Jaxson’s book. Now Piper’s brother, Noah, is missing. Her other brother, Daniel is staying at the River Pack estate so she hunts him down there. The reader sees early on in the story the disdain her family has for her. Noah is her closest family member and she doesn’t want to lose him no matter how horrible members of her family treat her. Her biggest enemy is her father, a general with not a smidgen of love inside him, for her.

What follows is on the edge of your seat suspense at times. Piper joins the pack in the hunt for the missing shifters and a romance begins to happen with Jace as well. Jaxson, and his mate Olivia are back as a newly mated pair and are involved as well. Although the mystery part of the book is important, the crux of this story is the romance between Jace and Piper. I enjoyed the romance and sensual scenes with one notable exception. Towards the end of the read one of the sex scenes became so out there for me, that it pretty much ruined the whole scene for me. Luckily, it happens so late in the book or I might have not finished it. And that is all I am saying about that, other than to say it was pretty different, and not in a good way.

I read, instead of listened and completely enjoyed the narration by J.F. Harding and Laura Hopelcong. I thought the different voices were done well and liked having both a male and female narrator to better authenticate the voices. I would definitely be interested in listening to the next installment by them, as well-if they are involved with that one.

All in all, I would recommend this to adult paranormal romance readers. These do go in order so I suggest you start with Jaxson, so you won’t be lost. Next up is Jared, about another broken brother in the River Park Pack.

This continues the thrilling paranormal saga as the River Pack Wolves endeavour to search for Agent Smith and put an end to his abuse and experimentation on shifters….

Each story has centred on one of the three River brothers - this time it is Jace’s story. Jace was in the Army but nightmares from his final days in service mean he now has a lock on his bedroom door to keep him locked in, never risking shifting and determined never to take a mate and put them at risk from his killer wolf.

Piper Wilding still works for the Army but is a civilian travelling the world in her role in counterintelligence. She’s more than happy to do this as it keeps her away from her pack and especially from her father. She is also determined never to take a mate after what happened to her mother.

When Piper finds that her brother is missing, she’s determined to find him, using whatever means she can - including breaking into the River brothers’ safe house! Not a good move! When Jace discovers her, there’s instant attraction and they’ll be battling that as well as working to find Noah in this fast paced, action packed tale. All the characters are well developed, the plot is brilliant with so many twists and turns the reader is never quite sure where they’ll end up going! Jace is a brilliant, very caring man and it seems incredible that his wolf is a killer but you’ll just have to read it to find out what really happened. Piper is feisty, highly intelligent, belligerent, stubborn and determined, especially when it comes to protecting those she loves.

This starts out as a rescue mission, as Piper convinces the River Wolf Pack to help search for Noah but the romance is also superb as secrets and fears need revealing and disposing of if they are ever to have a chance together. A superb addition to the series which I have no hesitation in highly recommending!

Thanks to the author for letting me read an ARC of this book in exchange for this, an honest review.

Jace (River Pack Wolves #2) by Alisa Woods Piper Wilding is assisted by wolf shifter/Ex-Army Specialist, Jace River, in the mission to help find her missing brother.

Alisa Woods creates another worthy shapeshifter and exciting novel.

I really like Jace. He has not shifted into his wolf form because he fears losing control and hurting someone. He cares about others and is a good man. I like how his wolf is distinctive, setting him apart.

Piper is a fun heroine. She works in counterintelligence, making her role in the story intriguing. Piper has an interesting family dynamic. I am glad I did not have her father. Her relationship with her brother, Daniel is strained. She gets along best with her youngest brother, Noah. She is strong individual and has a good heart.

The plot was mysterious and exciting. It has ties to the first book but is also uniquely its own story. There were many interesting twists. I enjoyed the military aspect. Jace is an exciting novel that is hard to put down. I am looking forward to Jared’s story.

Jace is book two of the Riverwise Private Security paranormal romance series.

To get the most from this series I recommend reading them in order.

This is the story of Piper and Jace. Piper's younger brother has disappeared and she arrives at a shifter safehouse to ask for help. This coincides with rumours of disappearances of other shifters. Jace and the River pack of wolves vow to help Piper find Noah.

Another quick easy read hot romance

So Jace is huge huh?

I think this may have been my favorite in this series. Piper is independent, fiesty and damaged. Jace is commanding, gentle, patient, sexy, huge and damaged. Did I mention that he is sexy and huge? Lol, totally excited about book 3!

I read the first book in this series a while ago. Here, we move on to brother number two. As is the case with most shifter books, it's all about finding your mate. The two main characters put aside their reservations and fall in love shockingly quickly. The villains and conspiracy are cartoonishly evil, and the heroes almost saintly. It's not all wrapped up at the end because then there wouldn't be a reason for the series to continue.
Typos: sentence fragment (...can you?" The Colonel demanded), comma used for period (Piper agreed emphatically, she didn't understand), repeated word (and the downed the guards).

Went too far, gross

Started out strong and intriguing... kinda trudged along, faltering major conflict and resolution. And then the author went too far and tied the edge f actual bestiality. That's when I stopped reading (around 92~93%) and now I'm not sure if I want to read anything else by her, for fear that she might continue this disturbing concept. Seriously, what the hell.

I give it 2 stars since the story was mildly interesting.

I enjoyed this story. OVER 18 READING

Jace is woken by his nightmares and decides to go downstairs and discovers someone who has broken into the house who kisses him crazy before telling him why she was there. Piper is sure her little brother is missing and she wants to talk to her other brother who lives at Jace and his families pack home...But his protective side comes out when he sees how Piper is treated because he believes her as do his brothers when they hear. It is why they decide to help but she leads Jace on a merry chase before they realize how important they have become to each other. They discover a plan that will hurt all shifters, get captured and find themselves in cages like her brother. Also finding out who is behind the missing soldiers and the testing on shifters that goes back to Jace when he was the only survivor of his last military tour a year ago. Jace has been led to believe he killed many and destroyed a village leaving his really huge and very powerful wolf out of control and so damaged that he can't ever claim a mate, shift near anyone again or trust his wolf. Piper tried to tell him that she doesn't know what happened over there but she knows that what he thinks happened didn't because there is no way he could have done what he said he did. These two keep finding danger, always trying to protect the other and find enjoyment in how the other person deals with everything they come up against. There is a love story that builds as they face over whelming odds with Piper growing up only able to depend on herself and always expecting others to look down on her and Jace from a loving family and pack who always back each other.

Ex-Army Specialist Jace River cannot control his wolf and so sleeps with a lock on his bedroom door. It also means he cannot risk shifting and so never truly be part of the pack. Plus even worse, there is also no way he could ever take a mate. Feisty Piper Wilding works for the army in counterintelligence travelling the world which has the distinct advantage of keeping her away from any pressure to take a mate (especially after what happened to her mother) plus her asshole father in Seattle. Pipper returns to try and find her missing brother and starts by breaking into the safe house used by the Rivers brothers'. When Jace finds her sparks fly and claws come out especially when her sexy skills threaten to bring out his wolf. The combination of Jace and Piper is like fire and gasoline and as they work together to try and find Piper's brother the heat threatens to burn down both of their carefully constructed walls - the problem is that them being together is dangerous and there is a definitely a risk that neither of them will survive.

Wow, this story was smoking hot and the combination of Jace and Piper was just explosive. I loved the way that Piper was able to calm down his wolf and some of the revelations of this story which helped Jace to understand exactly what did happen in his past. Well written and easy to understand, it definitely helps if you have already read the previous book in the series. I definitely became addicted to the story and invested in it and was praying that they could find a way to be together. The father certainly was a piece of work who will deserve every punishment he might receive in the future. Does contain some sexual content.

>Book Review – Jace

>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the second in the River Pack Wolves series and ends in an HEA. Jace is an army vet shifter who is afraid of his bear. He was told that his bear killed his army mates. Jace has no memory of the incident except through nightmares. Piper is an undercover government operative shifter looking for her missing brother. This plot of a governmental group stealing and experimenting on shifters is continued in this story. Jaxson and Olivia for book 1 make a few appearances in this story.

>Jace and Piper fight their attraction while hunting for Piper’s brother. There is an uncomfortable scene with Piper, in human form, going down on Jace in bear form. The transformation of Jace from a man who is afraid of his bear to one who accepts the bear and his shifting lifestyle is awesome to see. Piper is a little harder to warm up to, until you meet her horrid father and realize Piper acts as she does to survive.

> This story is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving the story 4 stars. Beastiality wasn’t necessary.

River Pack Wolves Book Two

When Piper Wilding shows up at the River Pack's safe house claiming that her brother, Noah, is missing, Jace immediately signs on to help rescue the other wolf. However, Piper's other brother, Daniel, isn't convinced. Piper knows she cannot wait on men to make a decision regarding her brother's life, so she steals Daniel's clearance pass and sneaks onto the military base to find answers. Daniel and Jace come to the rescue, but an old enemy makes an appearance and now Jace knows that Noah's disappearance might be connected to others.

Audio Review:
J. F. Harding and Laura Hopatcong could have been great narrators if the only characters they spoke for were the MCs. However, the secondary characters became somewhat cartoon-ish and mismatched. The two didn't seem to have any communication on voice for any of the characters.

If you're looking for a fast paced shifter adventure, this is the book for you!

*I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Another story of the River Pack wolves, this time is about the baby brother, Jace. He has issues with his wolf, and has no desire to have a mate, but then Piper arrives, and everything changes. I liked that the arrival of Daniel's sister helps to advance the story and brings the closer to resolve the mystery of the missing shifters, and I liked the characters, their issues and their struggles to get closer.

When we finally learn about Jace's past, and we get to learn more about the shifter conspiracy, everything become clearer and their romance finally blossoms. I liked the advance of the story and how the kind of characters in the book.

This is book 2 in the River Pack Wolves Series, Jace and Piper's story. I recommend reading book 1 first because there are a lot of details in this book that built upon events in the first book.

This story had good and bad things going on which landed me with a dead on 3 star rating. The good- Jace and how caring he is, Piper and how strong she is to have endured her life. The sex between them is hot (for the most part). The government story line was good, but there are beginning to be some wholes. The Bestiality was not okay at all. It is a brief scene, but I curled my nose and thought "I'm I really reading what I think I'm reading." and low and behold yes

I listened to this story with Audible. J. F. Harding and Laura Hopatcong did very well with their respective main characters, but not so much with the secondary characters.

I do plan to read book 3

Warning. A bestial sex act takes place in this book. Wish I had been warned.
An enjoyable read that follows on well from book one nicely until we get a disturbing act happen. I would never have picked up this book if I had read this act in any reviews.
Wasn’t a real fan of the apparent whorish behaviour of the heroine Piper but I did like her attitude and smarts. Can understand why with a father like hers.
Glad Jace found out the truth about his past but sad for all his fellow comrades.
Unfortunately there is a scene at the end that ruined this book completely. I found it it was grossly disgusting and uncalled for.
A human woman giving a wolf a BJ is just wrong on too many counts. I don’t care that she is a shifter herself, she shifted to human and put her mouth on him whilst he was in wolf form.
I returned the book. I am loath to read book three but as I already have it downloaded I will check all reviews first.
If book three goes there I will never read this author again.

This book began on a high note. It had everything I look for in an exciting story. Suspense, mystery, lots of action and even military elements. Truthfully I was metaphorically on the edge of my seat. Jace was an amazing character and while I didn’t love Piper because I found her a bit too arrogant, she was a character I liked enough to tolerate. The story was really good.

However…..

Towards the end of the book, after the danger was temporarily put to the side, a particular sexual scene between the H/h completely turned my stomach and erased my enjoyment of the book. I have read more than 100 shifter novels and never once came across a scene of beastiality in a a shifter romance. Because I am invested in the drama that arcs between the three books in the series I’m going to read the last book and PRAY the author doesn’t repeat the offensive scene.

This is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it.

Shifter romance with a side of thriller

No plot spoilers
No potential triggers
There are some sex scenes and some swearing.
Be aware, there is one scene of bestiality that turned my stomach, it should have been edited out.
There are some grammatical errors that irritated but didn't kill the book, also the syntax is slightly odd but it's not a book killer.
The characterisation is okay, the plotline could have been so much better if just a little more detail had been worked in.
There are some pages where the balance between show and tell is purely tell and that definitely made me skip paragraphs because some of it was repetition.
There is one more book in the series so I expect I will purchase it but I swear to god if there's any more bestiality I will drop the book and demand my money back

Jace

This is book 2 in a series of 3, and although it isn't absolutely necessary to the first book, Jaxson, it would make this one much more enjoyable if you have read it.
This story takes p!ace immediately after the first, and continues the adventures of the Rivers and Wildings, two packs of wolf shifters in the Seattle area.
Jace River can't shift into his wolf or take a mate, and Piper Wilding doesn't want a mate. But Piper's brother is missing and it looks like it's the same bad guys that were taking shifters off the streets previously.
Jace and Piper are thrown together and the attraction is immediate. Piper must show Jace that it's ok to trust himself, and Jace has to show Piper that it's ok to trust someone else.
