How much fun is this series? I must admit it's my guilty pleasure. The SPEAR team, now known as Strike Force One, have taken a new direction. After some time off they join up in Las Vegas to help guard a display of priceless Faberge Eggs. Of course things go wrong and the eggs are stolen, which brings our team to the fore, chasing the culprits to Los Angeles, and then down to Mexico, where things really start to heat up.

At first I wasn't sure about the new direction of this series, but now I'm convinced. It has more scope than just chasing baddies that want world domination. A ripping yarn that's quick and fun to read. Who cares if it's totally implausible. Recommended for all lovers of action and adventure.

After the traumatic events of Devils Island the team have gone their separate ways for some r and r, and you know thats not going to last long. We find Spear up against another elite team, but these are thieves and their agenda will have Spear chasing them though Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Mexico. The action and suspense comes thick and fast as does the banter and camaraderie along with the chaos and violence. This is another superb book from David as others have noted I cant believe this is the 21st Matt Drake so much has happened and hopefully so much more to come, keep up the amazing work David and thank you.

The Faberge Heist - a review by Rosemary Kenny

Shades of Ocean's 11 and Mission Impossible abound in the plot of David Leadbeater's 21st novel of his great Matt Drake series, with its fabulous heist mission. Matt, Alicia, Mai, Kenzie, leader Hayden, Yorgi, Gunther, Dino, Molokai, Dahl, Kinnimaka, Luther and Dallas, together form the POTUS' top secret team of super-agents (within the pantheon of those guarding the safety and effectiveness of those in power), aka Strike Force, a group ready to bring their particular talents to one or more threats to the US and the wider world in specialist 'sub-teams'.While their particular enemies, The Devil and the Blood King are still at large, the targets in Strike Force's latest mission are the 14 'known' Russian Faberge eggs and 4 new ones, exhibited at a purpose-built display centre in Las Vegas, of all places. Needless to say there's skulduggery afoot, with murder, mayhem and more, for the Strike Force's elite team to overcome.Your mission, (should you decide to accept it!) is to get your copy of The Faberge Heist by the incomparable David Leadbeater today - then climb back up to your luxury penthouse suite,to succumb to the delights and dangers within - and you'll pass your mission with flying colours!

21st in the Matt Drake series by David Leadbeater - can you believe it? The Faberge Heist is a thrilling action-adventure book about the famous SPEAR group. They've gone on vacation for the first time after re-forming the group to accept or reject jobs on their on volition. After months of rest, relaxation and doing as they pleased, they each find themselves itching to get back to the danger that keeps them alive and excited.

Their are rumors that an impossible heist will take place in Las Vegas at the opening of an incredible display of more Faberge eggs, including 4 thought to be lost, than has ever happened before. The team accepts the job since it is also rumored that the heist will likely be carried out by The One Percenters who have previously carried out 8 heists without leaving a clue. Irrisistible!

As always, there's non-stop action and death defying challenges. As all 20 of the previous aventures for the group formerly known as SPEAR, 21 is a job to read.

Matt Drake as part of Team Spear have had some time apart, except for the evolving relationships between some of the characters, then come back together for this fast paced and exciting new adventure.

This book takes the team in a different direction which sees them choosing which missions they want to be involved with. Whether you’ve been an avid fan of David Leadbetter’s novels from book
1 or are someone that has just discovered the author, you will slip straight into this story and I guarantee will not be disappointed by what you discover as you turn the pages towards the dramatic conclusion.

I am a huge fan of Matt Drake and the characters he spends time with and I’m already looking forward to the next instalment.

I really liked how this book took a slightly different path to the previous ones, it was great to see how they acted while on forced leave and then when they get a job as you saw them again as people and not just continuous fighting machines and felt like a reconnected with them. There was still plenty of action and some great twists along with some good old banter I know we all love from them. It was great to see the new guys still with them and that they haven't forgotten about the Blood King nor the Devil. You can feel things are changing for them not just with work but personally and I loved it as I feel there is many more options for how the future books can go.

Close, but no cigar

David Leadbetter made a bold move with the Faberge Heist by deviating from his normal formula In the Matt Drake series. I am sorry to say that I did not like the result.
Was the book well-written? Yes, of course. But I did not really enjoy it nearly as much as his many other Matt Drake books.
I look forward to reading Four Sacred Treasures, the next book in the series, in which the author returns to the type of plot line that I have come to love in almost all of his other Matt Drake books.

More action with the reinvented SPEAR Team. Although the action was later in coming, it was good to catch up with the team and how they coped with their long overdue R & R. When the action did start it was non-stop as usual making it hard to put down to the very end! I can't wait to see how the new lifestyle goes down with the different and newer members of the team. Fast paced & Thrilling

The Spear team, now revamped as Strike Force One, has been on vacation after their time on Devil's Island but are ready to return to what they do best, kick some a&& and stop the bad guys. From Utah to Vegas, California and Mexico the team does what only they can do. Loads of action, new characters and an intriguing group of thieves are on Strike Force radar now.

David needs to use American terms.for Americans and not British ones. We dont have satnavs we dont do takeaway..all of this and more detracts from the story line. Additionaly if youre going to use US military or law enforcement in your stories make sure u learn weapon systems they use. Anti terrorost forces use HKs not SIG smgs

After the events of Devil Island, the team has now been reinvented and Spear Team have become Strike Force One. The new format meant this book was not quiet the non stop action of previous books, with a continuous theme. Still a good book, with the characters still on top form.

Are you kidding?

The same group saving the rest of the country. Some of the scenarios are unbelievable. Lots of action and character development leading to another book to come.

Yet another

A slow burner, which is unusual, but a brilliant end as usual. I've said it before and I'll say it again, why aren't these books turned into films, they'd be amazing?

It is a bit slower than previous books if you are looking for non stop action from the go. Still entertaining and a good read.

Renamed Strike Force One enforced down time for the team is causing them some problems. They are not used to being Idle, but as usual that is about change..Nice to see old relationships being renewed and one in particular not standing the test of tune. Personal problems are pushed to the side as once ed they've finally got a job and looked it over inside and out they once again hit the ground running and chasing the bad guys. Keep them coming David.!
