Controlled chaos. Centuries-old secrets. A deep, abiding hatred that runs through the veins, and lineage, of two ancient families.
Charlotte is chosen by the sinister LaViolettes, with claims about her parentage that are both impossible and yet ring true—too true. She draws closer to Harlowe and her enigmatic clan, but the more she learns, the greater the danger to herself, her family, and her new but unexpected love, Lawrence.
Nicolas’ rise to the head of the family comes with distance from Lauren. His love for her has grown, not waned, but involving her only puts her back in harm’s way. To protect her, he must turn away from her and focus on the new, powerful threat facing down his family… one greater than any foe they’ve known so far.
As Charlotte spins deeper down the rabbit hole, Nicolas must determine when is too soon, and too late, to play the careful hand he’s been building.

A Storm of Revelations: Midnight Dynasty Book Two is as engrossing as the first book in author Sarah M. Cradit’s spin-off series. A Storm of Revelations, set in Paris and Louisiana, begins where A Tempest of Discovery ended. As with the author’s other books, it is critical to read them in order. The plot is complex and deepens with each installment, and the cast of characters expands and their relationships become more entwined as well.
Ms. Cradit richly sets her scenes with amazing detail. Her plot is well thought out, and she has created excellent tension throughout the book. The Deschanels may have met their match in the evil, vengeful LaViolettes. The long-running family feud is heating up, and the need to counter the threat forces Nicolas’ hand. The Deschanels and the Collective will not go down without a fight, but how will the out fox the seemingly all-knowing matriarchs of the LaViolette clan?
I thoroughly enjoyed A Storm of Revelations. The myriad of characters, the sinister foreboding, and the gripping story line made this book a quick read. It is a solid second act to another great saga from author Sarah M. Cradit. This series is a spin-off from her House of Crimson & Clover Saga.

We waited so long for this next book to come out and boy was it worth it! Charlotte got a hug slap in the face with an old family secret. Just because the Deschanel's and LaViolette's were together as a family centuries ago and then they split and one wants revenge, you don't have to start a war for the revenge of your ancestors. But what if there is one person who has the blood of both parts of the family? Do you take back what is rightfully yours? This was nail biting, heart racing, edge of your seat, a step back in time with gruesome rituals and a hate so strong that it makes your skin crawl. Awesome! Fantastic! Next book please!
EN:Thanks to the author who provided me with a copy of the book as a review, my opinion was not affected by it. It continues with the story of New Orleans and families. After I liked volume 1, I was curious what to expect in volume 2 and let me tell you this volume was a rollercoaster of emotions. While I didn't always agree with the characters, I still liked being back there and seeing what happened. A lot happened in this volume in particular that left me speechless. I enjoyed following the characters and how they try to make things right while fighting together. I especially have a weakness for Nicolas in this volume, he is officially my favorite character in this story and I just want him to get what he wants, even if unfortunately it wasn't the case and in turn made me very sad. Then there are the other characters who are complicated but at the same time you can't get enough of them either. Overall it was a great sequel and I fell in love with this world and characters and can't wait to see what's to come.
Two ancient families - on the one side the Deschanels, on the other the sinister LaViolettes, both have age-old secrets but underlying all of that is a deep and abiding hatred of each other. Charlotte is a Deschanel but the LaViolettes make claims about her parentage that must be impossible but also ring true. In drawing closer to Harlowe and the family she realises the great danger to herself, her family and her love Lawrence. As Nicholas rises to the head of the Deschanel family he becomes more distant from Lauren as he realises that to be close to her will put her in greater danger. So he turns away to focus on the LaViolette threat to the family. Nicholas has to work out when to play his hand as Charlotte gets closer to the rabbit hole that is the LaViolette family.
This story was full of intense drama and emotions as the events unfolded between the two families. There were some selfless acts on the part of Nicholas which were unexpected as he was obviously growing up and taking responsibility. This is definitely a game of high stakes and I'm definitely intrigued and want to know how it all turns out. Will the Deschanel family stay safe, will Nicholas and Charlotte regret the choices they have made? Well written and very enjoyable.
My mind is still whirling from this glimpse into the next saga of challenges for the Collective, the LaViolettes. With Charlotte finding out why she was kidnapped and about who they really are, things have gone into free fall. But of course that's not the only thing that is going on. With Nickolas assuming most of Colleens leadership roles things are changing. We see a side of him that has been hidden and that Lauren brought out, and it's heartbreaking. Yes I love seeing him take responsibility but knowing just how much he is also sacrificing (you will have to read it) just makes you feel for him down to your toes. I love where this is going, the intrigue and betrayal, the loss and the threat. The LaViolettes don't play. This family led by women have forged a path that leads to the demise of the Deschanels and they have little wiggle room for those who don't fall in line. Nickolas and Charlotte have a plan. Now all they have to do is execute it. Awesome read, expect the unexpected, prepare yourself for the storm that's coming because the Deschanels will not go down without a fight.
I went into this novel with a curiosity that right away got fed. Feuding families bring in drama that will at times be like a good tennis match. You get wholes of two halves while reading this. It is filled with many emotions that have a storm coming to eat up everyone. Charlotte is one that you will follow with her trek and then you also get Nicolas as his head of the family showing his path. Between them both you get wrapped up with a bow on top soaking up everything with not seeing any relief until more comes.
Ms. Cradit keeps the suspense going in the second book of this engrossing spin off. The Deschanel family may have met there match in the LaViolettets. What lengths will the Deschanel's and the Collective go to to protect the family and defeat the evil clan of the LaViolettets? Can Nicholas do what he needs to do for the family and let Lauren go for her protection? The LaViolettets have a leg up on the Deschanels as they know so much about them while the Collective gathers to battle someone that they had no idea existed. I can't wait to see what happens next.
A Storm of Revelations is the second book in the Midnight Dynasty Series. I loved how we were able to learn more about the characters in this book, the pasts of the families (I had many *gasp* moments), and how they will move forward. It has a great mix of interpersonal interactions between the characters and the larger drama between the families. Sarah gets me every time with these end of the book reveals! I love it! I can't wait to continue the Series and see what else she has in store.
Book 2 in this series doesn’t disappoint!! Filled with drama and intrigue this installment keeps the reader on the edge of our seats. The author never ceases to amaze me with superb plot lines and amazing characters! A page turner and wonderful read!!!
I chose a 5 because every book in this series is a 5 or more this covers generation after generation it covers love hate frustration but this is a family of witches who are in danger can anyone save them?
Wow….. I feel like I’ve been struck with so much emotion after reading this book. It was as good as the first book and I can’t wait to read book three totally recommend this book for lovers of charmed, once upon a time and supernatural
I don't know what it is about these books. The plot moves slowly, but they're addictive like a soap opera. It's the characters, their pride and their hopes and trysts ... the writing is easy to whip through, but pithy at times, and emotionally satisfying. I'm hooked.
Some crazy twists in this book that I wasn't expecting! Kept me turning the pages late into the night(or early into the morning if you want to get technical). Super excited to see what comes next.
Even though I had just read book 1, I think it’s really cool that Sarah goes back and recaps the last bit of book 1, especially with the big reveal. In book 1, there are a lot of characters that we see their POV, but Nic was our main focus. Besides him and Lauren, Charlotte stood out to me, especially after that book 1 ending. Keeping that in mind, it’s no surprise that Charlotte is now the focus of the story. Also, the research that Nic and Lauren were doing on the LaViolettes start to make sense. The LaViolettes and the Deschanels have a long long nasty history. One that even the Deschanels weren’t aware of and the LaViolettes have held a grudge against them. The LaViolettes have a very different way of running their coven, they’re led by women and the men have no power in the decision making, and it’s a very oppressive rule. While the Deschanels have a council that consists of both men and women that make the big decisions that affect the whole coven. Something that really wasn’t for me was Lauren. OMG how I hate her! Book 1 she was annoying. Book 2? Ugh!!!! Bane of my existence. Nicolas is in love with her and it’s well known. Lauren won’t give him a chance because of his bad boy rep and is stubbornly ignoring all the work he’s put in to leave that rep in the past. She’s constantly throwing it in his face. If it was just that, I would be fine but it’s not! She’s so damn indecisive and constantly arguing with herself about Nic – “yes, he’s good now, responsible” “oh no, he’s just a drunk irresponsible playboy”. I kinda sorta feel bad for her because of the shitty family she has but I just don’t have the patience for her letting them walk all over her and her indecisiveness. When her family drama comes to the “office”, Ashley, Nic’s cousin, is there and in the end steps in and rescues Lauren. That’s all good and whatnot BUT when they have sex in the office right after her fam leaves, it’s like wtf! Nic has been there over and over for her, has shown he’s good, and she goes and has sex with someone she really doesn’t know?! WTF! She start a relationship with Ashley, who also has his share of problems and traumas, so not a toxic relationship at all… When she gets into a bad situation, who does she call? Nicolas! Not her boyfriend, Ashley. Nic rescues and takes care of her afterwards. He does all he can. How does she repay him? By jumping him and having sex with him! He tries to fight her off and tells her it’s a bad idea, but apparently for sex she’s not indecisive. The morning after, of course she regrets it and tries to sneak of! What a surprise… Lauren rant over…for now. While Lauren is wasting our time, Nic and Charlotte have come up with a plan to infiltrate the LaViolettes to find out what they want from Charlotte and what their end-goal against the Deschanels. Completely disregarding anything to do with Lauren, I loved the story. It’s fun and interesting seeing two different types of “government” clash but underneath it all, they’re so similar, and their roots aren’t that separated as they had thought. Book ends, with Nic and Charlotte putting their plan into action which leaves us wanting more and with book 3 out, the wait isn’t excruciating.
It's hard to come back to a story after a hiatus and remember exactly what happened the last time. It's even more difficult when there are so many characters involved. At this point, I know the Deschanels better than some of my own distant relatives! However, keeping track of the other families is a little bit more confusing.
Let me get this out of the way at the beginning. This is an amazing story by an incredible author. Full stop. I won't try to recap the plot but I will make a few observations. The Laviolettes are horrifyingly awful. Frankly, they're terrifying. I do not envy Charlotte and am anxious to see her escape their clutches.
Nicholas has become a bit of a hero to me. He has, over the course of many books, experienced the hero's journey multiple times, and at this point, he is becoming the leader the family needs. Which brings me to Colleen, who is slowly starting to realize she doesn't have what it takes anymore. That's a sad realization and something I'd like to see Sarah Cradit explore further in future books.
This book is packed with horrific events, confused lovers (not all), uncertainty, and suspense. I can't wait to find out what happens next!
Wow!!! Sarah M. Cradit has done it again with this second book in the Midnight Dynasty series. Cradit’s writing is fast paced and utterly enthralling; you can’t help but get sucked into this world she’s created. I really loved Charlotte’s internal struggle in this one. And I felt so bad for Nicolas! He has such deep feelings, but he really has changed, considering how nobly he acts despite them. I completely recommend!
