I’m a full-time cancer physician (Medical Oncologist). I was born in Newcastle, UK and moved to Brisbane, Australia in 2004. My professional writing credits include over 200 publications including peer-reviewed research papers, journals, book chapters, conference contributions and electronic outputs in the field of Cancer Research.

I’ve always loved sci-fi and dreamed about being an author in this genre as long as I can remember. My reading faves include ‘old school’ legends such as Arthur C. Clarke, Isaac Asimov, Dan Simmons and Frank Herbert, but I devour almost everything by Alastair Reynolds, Neal Stephenson and Kim Stanley Robinson. Recently I’ve gotten into Richard Morgan and Ann Leckie, and try really, really hard to like Peter F. Hamilton. Also, every time Lee Child brings out a new Reacher I set aside a weekend to just immerse myself in that fabulous character’s mind and world.

It may be a cliché, but yes, I am a Star Wars, Marvel and Tolkien tragic, so if not working or reading or writing, you’ll find me rewatching these movies… and trying to out-quote my two daughters (I usually don’t win).

Finally, I keep fit by cycling as much as I can, and I meditate to stay sane and keep everything in perspective and balanced. My wife, Andrea, can tell you how successful I am at the latter…

Trinity’s Legacy (Vu-Hak War Book 1) by P.A. Vasey is a thrilling book that unites the reader with the grieving Doctor Kate Morgan, while questioning the appearance of Adam Benedict. Dr. Morgan had just lost her daughter in a shootout six months previously. Moving out of the big city and starting over only brought more complications to her life. Adam sent to the ER as a victim of a car accident is just the beginning of the journey these two will take. Coming to terms with aliens is just the start of a rocky relationship for the two.

The characters mesmerized me in Trinity’s Legacy. This is the first of the Vu-Hak War trilogy by P.A. Vasey. With the portal between earth and Vu-Hak, war is expected since their world is dying. Captivating plot with characters that seem realistic. Great start to an alien science fiction.

Set in America, but uses British/Aussie idioms

It’s a great story, but it was very distracting to find characters using British or Aussie idioms. If the characters are supposed to be American, why in the world would they use British terminology instead of American? Very distracting.

Humans and aliens – initial contact!

Australian author PA Vasey is a Medical Oncologist who steps onto the literary stage with this first book of his proposed science fiction series, Vu-Hak War, TRINITY’S LEGACY being Book 1. Vasey may be new to writing novels, but his professional writing credits in Cancer Research are found in over 200 research papers, journals, book chapters, conference contributions and electronic outputs!

Vasey’s medical background serves him well as he opens this first novel of his trilogy with the following: ’The Chief Resident didn’t look at me but just pointed down the corridor in the general direction of the patient bays. She was writing an entry in a chart as her pager went off and the phone by her elbow started ringing. She had the stiff-backed posture of a soldier, and her unlined face was calm and collected as she picked up the phone with one hand while looking at the number on her pager. I saw her smile in that cold and distant way that professionals do as she took another call and started the process of admitting another patient.’ Reality check – excellent! - and the incipient initial exposure of humans to aliens gains credibility.

One aspect that engenders reader respect for an initial volume of a proposed science fiction series is the author’s generosity in sharing information about the cast of characters before the story opens. Vasey does this with aplomb – ‘The Vu-Hak: An ancient and malevolent alien race, once organic, now entities of pure thought, drifting between the stars, limitless and immortal. An alpha species. A species that colonises on a galactic-scale. The portal: A rift in space connecting Earth to the Vu-Hak galaxy. A result of the Cold War’s secret nuclear arms race. Hidden by scientists and U.S. governments for half a century. Forgotten. Kate Morgan: A doctor grieving the recent death of her child. She encounters a strange man in her emergency room. A man who speaks to her telepathically. A man who knows things about her he could not possibly know. Adam Benedict: Amnesic, enigmatic, and not entirely human. The FBI and the Government are desperate to capture him. Driven by urges he cannot understand, he goes on the run, taking Kate Morgan with him. With Adam questioning whether humanity is worth saving, Kate realizes that she is the only thing keeping him human. And time is running out.’

Written with skill and polish usually found only in authors who have extensive novel writing experience, this book delivers a fine cast and unique ideas that, thanks to Vasey’s contemporary language and delivery, makes this fantasy a work with which we can relate. This is a strong beginning for what seems to be a promising new career.

TRINITY'S LEGACY (Vu-Hak War Book 1) Another interesting one for Sci-Fi lovers

Another interesting one for Sci-Fi lovers
A very well written book from an author who is also a scientist. PA Vasey a Medical Oncologist has definitely shown his interest in the field of Sci-Fi and how good he can also be as an author. He has developed a fantastic plot that takes the readers on a journey into the future. like most science fiction in its category, there is a human part to the story and the alien parts which PA Vasey has successfully brought together to give us a wonderful and enjoyable story to read.
The author presents the reader with vivid description of fictional places in the book and at some point I was wondering if they were real-life locations. There is also some fragments of reality contained in the story. There are also a lot of science terminologies used in this book—a good way to expand your vocabulary. From Kate’s point of view, this story tells of struggle and from the point of view of Adam, we also see an internal struggle between a man and an alien being trying to take over his body.

Wow! What an awesome start to a new sci fi trilogy by first time author PA Vasey.
Trinity's Legacy is about an ancient and malevolent alien race, a man who is no longer entirely human, and a woman who may be the only one who can save him and the rest of humanity.
This book had me hooked from the first page, and kept me engrossed all the way to the end.... so much so, that I finished reading it in one day. I am now eagerly awaiting the next installment of this trilogy, but in the meantime I will read the short story "I am Trinity" which is told from Adam's perspective, and leads us into the upcoming book 2.
PA Vasey's writing style is very easy to read, and his characters are well developed and likeable, and I am very excited to see what action is in store for them in the sequel "Trinity's Fall".
PA Vasey is now on my list of authors to watch, and I would definately recommend this book to fans of the sci fi genre.

What will happen to humanity when we encounter an alien species for the first time? Will global panic ensue? Will we/they be able to react with dignity or lean towards war and destruction? This is part of the topic covered in the first of a trilogy by Pa Vasey. This Sci-Fi story is certainly ambitious, the world building is grand and detailed and the alien race, the Vu-Hak is described in great detail as well. It is easy to become entrenched in the plight of the main characters and worry about the outcome. The ending is becoming of a series book, not quite a cliffhanger, but there are plenty of unanswered questions left that should tempt any reader to pick up the next book when it comes out. I certainly enjoyed it although it was not a light read. As with some sci-fi novels you have to be able to suspend some of your ingrained notions of the impossible and be willing to believe in certain things. Intriguing and interesting.

TRINITY'S LEGACY (Vu-Hak War Book 1) by PA Vasey is a fantastic book in the science fiction genre. The first in what promises to be an excellent series, this book tells the story of an ancient and sinister alien race, a man, Adam Benedict, who's not quite human, and a doctor, Kate Morgan who might be the only one able to save everyone. Telepathy, alien races out to destroy, the FBI, and more make for an exciting story as Adam is on the run with Kate Morgan. With a fast pace, lots of action, well drawn characters, and plenty of intrigue, this story will resonate not only with science fiction fans, but others as well. This exciting book with keep you engaged until the final pages. Eager to read more from this author in the follow up books in the series. Highly recommend for a substantial and compelling read about aliens and more.

I was not expecting this!!

This is the first book in the Vu-Hak War Book Trilogy. This isn’t a light read, the storyline explores the relationships between aliens and the human race. This is not like any sci-fi novel I have ever read before. I found myself drawn into the storyline and the characters had a depth and multiple dimensions that I wasn’t expecting when I started this series. It was a pleasant surprise. I enjoyed the relationship between Kate an Adam as she discovers that she is the one who keeps Adam human as he struggles with the alien trying to take him over. Will Kate be able to keep Adam human and save the human race? You’ll have to read to find out because there’s no spoilers here! I’m looking forwards to the second and third books! I know they will have great stories to come!

Started kinda like a very violent Starman

The beginning parts felt a lot like that old movie I loved (Jeff Bridges was amazing!), but very violent. It definitely took quite a turn and I mostly enjoyed it. Enough to read the next one. But, the reason I gave it less stars than I normally would have is the very British way it was written. Don’t get me wrong, I love the Brits, but if you’re writing in a first person point of view of a 100% American woman, you need to stop talking about torches, etc! (They’re FLASHLIGHTS, dangit!)

If you don’t want to Americanize your words, then change your character to a Brit living in America so that it reads more true to the character. Otherwise, it’s going to give your American readers a jarring jolt out of your world every single time the words are the wrong version of English.

Mystery palooza

This whole book has my mind racing a mile a minute. There was so much stuff I wanted to know right now and the development of the story is brilliant. I was kept guessing and answers were coming at a upper satisfying rate. The idea and concept of the story is pretty great and I would recommend this one for sure.

Pretty good! I'm jumping right into the second book to see what happens next. A few minor quibbles (for example, US Route 95 goes through Indian Springs, Nevada, not I-95), and there are some Britishisms that an American would not have used (biscuits instead of cookies, for example), and a couple of technical gaffes. But a decent sf read overall.

Fabulous Sci-fi story

I enjoyed this story a lot, it reminded me of the movie Independence Day in terms of plot. The author employed excellent description to paint a vivid picture of the story’s events, it felt like a movie. I will be heading next to the sequel!

I skimmed this to discover the plot, which was interesting, but the writing style was so not for me. There were huge paragraphs of description and unnecessary detail and it felt flat and performative, rather than rich and full of life and story. I won't be reading any more.

A different take on everything

Adam want like anything she had seen. He appeared human but the medical machines were confounding all of them. What he was, no one has ever seen before. .

From a doctor to the FBI, they all tried to get to the bottom of what made Adam tick.

interesting and fast paced

Different take on first contact with an alien race. Fast paced for sure. At times it felt heavy emotionally due to the doctors history but had other action packed adventures to keep it moving.

Absolutely insane morality on display where an accessory to rape and murder and theft is not really responsible because she has daddy issues. This was a super irritating point.

Otherwise the story is fine, if not too nuts
