Unfortunately, I didn't get to read all of this, specifically the web page expired for the prepub during the scene at the hot springs, but I did have the final part to read as well (basically the climactic battle and some housekeeping with the sorcerer's guild). I did at least skim read to a handful of significant lines in that part 10 that point to some relationship development, which I'm pleased to see (in a series where the main are spending 24/7 together, forced to sleep in the same bed, and are so touchy / feely / huggy, it's hard for me to believe they'd do a "will they won't they" for too long, especially considering they're adults when in Japan).
This volume also begins to develop the Magi Drake, someone that appeared to be more of an occasionally appearing side character, but now appears more like a major cast member. Again, I didn't get to see how they convinced her to sort of party up with them, just saw the very beginning of the hot springs trip (when she's observing their care for one another in awe, it warming her heart, but also disgusting her with the lack of acknowledgement of a relationship when they're so close). She's a new Mommy, and we get to see just a small portion of her struggle (you know how it is, not being able to rest, constantly having to feed your young while you yourself starve, the usual). There's a lot of fan service with her too this volume (both picture wise and in text wise). But she's already got a baby daddy, sorry guys.
If you like pleasant descriptions of food, you'll enjoy this one. I still like to have those "picky eater" representations like in Cooking With Wild Game because I find every single dish being palatable for every human in a work hard to believe, but there's at least hesitancy when they eat stuff like Miso Potatoes on skewers that look "cheap" but turn out to be delicious, of course. Oh, and we do get to see them try and consume cooking they didn't make in the other world and generally feel disgust.
Comedy was decent in this one. Embarrassed expressions / red hot cheeks may have been an overused element to the dynamic, as was the repetition of the gag where they're acting lovey-dovey without noticing then get called out on it by someone in public (librarian, the Magi Drake, and Maribelle's master all do this at moments in the story). I spit out my milk when the librarian's husband saw not only Marie walk out of his house but also the voluptuous black haired (silent foreigner to him) Magi Drake, Rydra, walk out as well on their way to the hot springs resort. They must think he's ordering off a mail-order bride catalog or something at this point (I'm sure he'll play it off as another relative visiting, but how long can you do that if you're all visiting Earth regularly?). xD
Overall, I did enjoy this one. Marie and Kazuhiho closing the gap in their relationship to become closer is the carrot that I'm reading for. The battles I could take or leave (especially now that they have a level 1000 Magi Drake on their side, but that probably means we're looking at tougher opponents in the future if you're a fan of that). There's still some cryptic stuff I'd want to get my head around more on a reread when I'm not zooming through (the relationship between the head of the sorcerer's guild and our Magi Drake friend; Marie's master's deal; the grand wiz and the other dude's plan for the Labrynth exploration). Some of this stuff will surely come up again in future volumes.
