The comedy is fun and has made me chuckle several times, but the characters aren't making a strong impression, aside from Eriko herself. The idea that everyone has their odd and awkward side is nice, though obviously some people negotiate that better than others in social situations.
I was hoping this series would grow on me, but it's starting to look too bland to really take root. Here's a whole volume of will-they-or-won't-they kiss that is more tedious than tantalizing. And the romantic rival withers on the vine before he can even become interesting.
I have one more volume on hold at the library, but i don't see me making it to the end of this series.
Ellie's family is a bunch of weirdos...... and I love it..... Honestly, this manga is so funny. I love how the characters interact with each other. I can totally envision this being adapted as a romcom anime one day. AND DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED WITH OHMI AND ELLIE I LOVE THOSE TWO SO MUCH <3
I'm a little disappointed this potential second lead was nipped in the bud so fast. I mean good for Ellie for being loyal, but Aoba, I was waiting for greatness.
Ohmi's tsundere is bringing me joy though.
Recap: Ohmi's uncle drives them home, Ohmi meets Ellie's dad and apologizes for having her out so late, more Ellie shenanigans and cringey daydreams, meet Aoba again at a tennis match where Ohmi gets jealous and then flakes on the match, Ellie calls out Ohmi for being a brat, Aoba and Ellie go to pancakes before she leaves, Aoba shows up at her school next day and Ohmi sees, math tutoring, almost kissing again.
It's pretty rare for the male protagonist and main love interest to have a compelling back story that doesn't involve some sort of betrayal or love triangle, that's refreshing.
A stronger volume than the last. Funnier moments hit harder. I like Ellie and her issues with figuring out why she likes who she does. I also enjoyed that almost everyone is flawed. Will read volume 3
4.5 stars! I really get a kick out of this manga. Ellie is wild and Ohmi is kind of tsundere, and I really like them as individuals and as a couple 😆 the whole thing is so cutesy and fun. Off to the next!
This volume does a deep dive into Ohmi's backstory, revealing why he tends to put on a facade and hold people at arm's length. It makes me enjoy his dynamic with Eriko even more: since she sees him for who he actually is and still likes him anyway, he ends up falling hard for her. I'm a sucker for vulnerability in love stories so that resonates with me. As I've said in my previous review, this series is so fun and enjoyable. That said, I'm curious about how the story is going to go in the remaining ten volumes.
Cute boys blushing is definitely my weakness– and Omi blushed a lot in this one because of Ellie AAARRGGHHHHH IT'S SO CUTE????
And Ellie's perverted fantasies just keeps getting more ridiculous and funnier. It's finally shown that she inherited her high-level fantasies thanks to her father, but her whole family was hilarious too.
I like that we get a chapter with Omi's POV too. It gives a more in-depth view of how Omi thinks about the entire situation with Ellie, and how despite the perfect-boy image he projected, he's simply a normal boy who wanted live without any expectations from others.
I definitely have a soft spot for this series, Ellie is a super weird protagonist but she's also very endearing. She's different from other shoujo protagonists in that she's weird and she embraces it. I also just really like Omi as a love interest, they're well suited for each other.
Still feeling pretty neutral about this manga series but I’m going to read more volumes because there are interesting moments. I like the introduction of Omi-kun’s former classmate & friend: Aoba-kun. I feel like he’ll either be a potential love interest for Ellie or he’ll be a nice additional friend for both Omi-kun and Ellie. Also, I really liked the chapter that showed Omi-kun’s perspective.
For someone who is secretly prevented and not to forget, have a fan twitter tweeting about her fantasy bf, she’s sure is innocent and an idiot when it comes to social cues (being alert of her surrounding especially the ‘doki-doki’ moments).
Honestly, it’s not that weird that Ellie is assuming they aren't dating. She’s extremely self conscious and he's never outright said to go out with him.
some of this stuff had me holding back laughs lol ellie is bold for still tweeting her fantasies even after ML finds her Twitter account but she *is* rather shameless haha
that being said, it was a fun ride following her around and seeing her attempts to get closer w/ her LI.
just a casual, easygoing read. im not majorly fond of the characs, but they’re pretty entertaining so :D
This is definitely a cute fuwa fuwa manga! I think it's still pretty early for me to judge if this manga is good or not, but so far I'm enjoying the lighthearted vibe this manga gives off. :)
Lectura amena i ben exagerada a estones, l'aniré llegint a poc a poc.
started reading this late so it’s *technically* the next day lol. this volume was HILARIOUS and luckily i didn’t get too much second-hand embarrassment
Volume 2 was much more enjoyable than the first volume. I liked the addition of Aoba. He can see through Ohmi and is protective of Ellie. The relationship between Ellie and Ohmi is interesting. She is cautious, finding it hard to believe Ohmi could really like her. And Ohmi does not know how to honestly engage in a relationship. I am interested in reading the next volume.
Such a cute addition to the series. I am still head over heels in love with the art style and it all feels so marshmallow-y, light-hearted and like floating on clouds haha. Very sweet.
Cutest quote from this volume - "All you do is make me happy."
I enjoyed this volume, especially the last 2 chapters. In chapter 8 we learn from Ohmi’s point of view what middle school was really like for him and what he’s thinking throughout that chapter. Both Eriko and Ohmi are so funny, they are also very awkward together. Normally I don’t like that but these two are just so funny. I am annoyed that every time you think they’re going to kiss, they get interrupted. I’m so tired of shojo manga doing that so much, just let them kiss already!😑 While sometimes Eriko’s pervertedness is embarrassing but other times I love it. Like I mentioned in my vol. 1 review, it’s refreshing to see a shojo lead who is not naive and innocent and she also loves erotic stories. Yeah she’s 16 or 17 but so what? I got into that stuff at 17. I love that Ohmi’s not like many other shojo main guys where he’s so perfect at everything that it gets annoying and they feel like a robot (I don’t know who likes those kind guys, I sure don’t), instead while he is good looking, smart and good at tennis, he’s also bratty at times, is so awkward with Eriko even though it’s so easy for him to talk to other girls and unlike some of those other shojo boys, he actually worked hard to get to where he is instead of skipping classes and still getting good grades. So I’m really happy about that. The whole, everyone-thinks-he’s-good-looking-and-is-obsessed-with-him is so ridiculous and it’s one of those shojo manga cliches that I wish they would either stop or tone it down. The only girl who doesn’t have a crush on him is Eriko’s best friend Sara. I also don’t like the real Aoba, that just ruined him for me. In vol. 1 I thought he was cool and that he could be a great love rival for Ohmi but now I’m like, forget it.
My favourite chapter was chapter 7 because we saw Ohmi lose his cool and get flustered in front of people and admit to Eriko that he was jealous seeing her with another guy.
This was a nice palette cleanser after the last 4 books I read. Now it's time to go back to the thrillers, horrors and anything else that could be considered Halloween books.
"Perverted Ellie... is only allowed to fantasize about ME!"
Oh my god this volume was a riot! I laughed so hard at one scene that I literally started to tear up from it, that's a sign of good comedic timing. I really love Ohmi in this volume, we get to inside his heart and mind more, and he's just a cute little dorky tsundere. I adore him, he's precious. Ellie is amazing too though, definitely relatable to me in a lot of ways. I have had lots of trouble in the past making friends and kind of being invisible. Plus, probably like most of the readers here, I have a perverted mind too lmao.
