Essential reference book for portrait artists. Love that it includes FACS (facial action coding system) and Ekman stuff, pictures of common major emotions as expressed through muscle movements of the face and identifying which muscles are at work.
The book is mostly all visual reference material with bare-bones text. (Appropriate for visual artists, I think.) It includes detailed computer renderings of all the layers of the face, in motion and at rest, with many photos of diverse humans showing the corresponding movements.
Skeleton, muscles, ligaments, fat, and how each is affected by expression.
It's the anatomy book I've been searching for for years. It's just brilliant.
